The best twosome in the Scottish hillwalking TH-cam world. Always cheers me up watching yous lads. Can you maybe do some walks in the south of Scotland, like the Annandale Way, West Island Way, St Cuthbert Way or Eildon Hills, Three Brethern or the Merrick etc??
Thanks Mark, those are some very kind words 😊We definitely plan on doing the Merrick at some point, just haven’t decided on a route yet. We will take a look at the other suggestions, have you walked any of them yourself?
Dougs has a down jacket, but not sure why he didn’t have it on, whereas I am in the market for one. When we were wearing as many layers as we were I don’t think we still expected to be cold 🥶
Duo Supreme Tangerine Dream Team! I hear you about best laid plans - as I put together my own end-of-year video it's fun to look back at the highlights but there was also a lot of setbacks. Every year things getting a little bit harder as I get older and deal with more injuries. Here's to a great 2024! Summit Snacks - there may be a spin-off TH-cam channel here. This time was a very tough choice. But my vote goes to the Toffee Doughnut. Yummers.
Its great to look back and reflect on the year thats almost at an end, and to look forward to whats ahead. I don’t think either of us expected to be dealing with injuries and setbacks at the age we are but it seems to happen to most people sadly! Looking forward to seeing your own video Seth
Now. I like the sound of the toffee doughnut. But I also like the sound of the cinnamon bun. But which one's better? There's only one way to find out... FIGHT! C'mon mister cinnamon bun. (Too close to call). Thanks for uploading, guys. ATB for the new year. Happy trails. 🏴🏔👍
Hi Dougie, Hi Alistair, another absolutely belting video, up there with all the rest you have done this year. In terms of summit snacks this week, I’m going for a score draw, I can’t choose between them, some might say, like Dougie, I’m sitting on the fence, or standing on it in his case. 🤣 If you don’t do another video before, I hope you and your families have an amazing Christmas and New Year. All the best Dave 😀🥾⛰🏴🏴🎄🎅🏻
Thanks Dave, we appreciate you joining us on the journey and always enjoy your comments on the videos. Have a great festive period and all the best for the new year!
Super video, as always and I really enjoyed the reviews of the year from both of you. Glad you're both getting out and about together again. As for the Summit Snack winner, that was a tough one this time... as I love cinnamon, the cinnamon bun just edges it... but only just! Although further research may be needed as I've never had a toffee doughnut either!
Alright guys. Fantastic video. Looking forward to see what yous get up to next year. As the the cake wars this time. Am not a fan of either lol. But if I had to choose. It would be the toffee cake this Time. Again amazing video ATB Alan
@HighlandHikers I do like a Jaffa Cake lol. Or sometimes when my wife makes homemade cupcakes I take a couple of them up to lol. Can you recommend any Corbetts I can try out that yous have done that's relatively easy to navigate. The only Corbetts I've done have been the cobbler, Ben ledi and Beinn Each. Thanks.
I quite enjoy a homemade cupcake, especially if it has some proper whipped cream on top. I would say the last few weeks have done were well worth a visit. Beinn nan Imirean or Beinn Udlaidh and Beinn Bhreac-liath were both great walks, with no one else on the mountain. They were straight forward and short enough to fit in the winter days with less daylight.
Another great video you guys! The summit snack is a very close one for me, but it has to be the toffee doughnut! Have a wonderful time over the festive period and all the best for 2024 !!🧑🎄🥯☺
Excellent outing as always guys and I'm torn on the "Summit Snack" winner. I was initially drawn to the cinnamon bun (although I'd call it a cinnamon swirl) but I think I'd go for the donut up there. The cinnamon "swirl" would need a wee cup of tea to go with it. However, if you ever saw me turning down either then there would be something wrong. This was a tough decision. I'm so chuffed Alasdair has found the level and getting the good vibes back. Money and retirement is not the be all and end all, it's a nice notion but happiness far outweighs it. Again, great to see you guys out and here's to 2024 for you both!

Hi guys looking forward to you next outing.
Enjoy the festive period.🎉
Thank you! You too!
Beautiful. Have been there around as well this year during my Rob Roy Way Hike. Thx for sharing.
Thank you! I can imagine the Rob Roy Way will be a lot quieter than the WHW, hope you enjoyed it.
@@HighlandHikers Enjoyed the WHW and the RRW both. But yes, RRW is much a lot quieter. I was mostly alone on the trail.
That sounds pretty good in my opinion. Sometimes just being alone in these places is just what is needed.
I don’t know how you guys do these cold walks in a fleece, the wind cuts right through them
Ask Santa for a light insulated windproof jacket 😂
Dougs has a down jacket, but not sure why he didn’t have it on, whereas I am in the market for one. When we were wearing as many layers as we were I don’t think we still expected to be cold 🥶
The down jacket isn’t great in damp conditions. My fleece has been pretty warm in the wind! -Douglas
@@HighlandHikers yeah I wear synthetic jackets in the hills
@Cornwall1888 I’ve asked Santa for a synthetic jacket already 😄

Toffee donought wins 😂 great video as always guys and keeps me inspired to keep hiking.
Thanks David, seems a close one this week. Hope you have a great time over the festive period and wish you many great hikes in 2024.
Great video guys. It's a cinnamon bun for me all day 💪
Excellent choice and thanks for watching 👍🏻

Nice one Lads 👍

Thanks for watching Alan. The snacks aren’t always for everyone. What would be your typical snack for munching at the top of a mountain?
@HighlandHikers I do like a Jaffa Cake lol. Or sometimes when my wife makes homemade cupcakes I take a couple of them up to lol. @HighlandHikers yea a cupcake with whipped cream is nice. I'll definitely check those mountains out. All the best for Xmas and New year.

Thanks Julie. Hope you have a great festive period too!
Sorry Allistair but dougies donut wins it hands down all day long, great vid as usual lads👍
Thats disappointing Billy! I can’t win them all I suppose

I think we both would have happily had the other summit snack, although I do love a cinnamon bun/swirl!
Looking forward to 2024 as well 😊
Toffee doughnut👍
It seems to be swinging towards the toffee doughnut this week!
