The Crap Car Collective
United Kingdom
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 18 เม.ย. 2022
We are a group of classic car owners, who tend to only buy the crap cars that others forget about. We are currently restoring a rare Morris Marina GT, but in the past we have restored dozens of cars. We currently own around 45 cars between the three of us.
The CCC Christmas Special 2024
We video hours worth of footage every week, and only a small percentage is shown. So, we've rounded up some of the bits that didn't go into the episodes, or some outtakes for your Christmas viewing pleasure.
You can turn it into a drinking game. Any time one of us takes a sip of tea or eats a biscuit, take a drink. If anyone says 'Loook at that' or 'Chuffin hell', down it!
We hope you enjoy it. Have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

We buy Ant Ansteads Alfa from Born Mechanic. What did we find?
มุมมอง 52Kหลายเดือนก่อน
Matts brother, Jim bought an Alfasud from auction. It was renovated by Ant Anstead for his show Born Mechanic. But when he got it, it wouldn't drive. Why was this? What did we find? Edit: Thanks for all the comments about the Russian steel. I made the mistake of taking what I found on the Internet as correct. So please, no more comments about it. Many thanks to Ant and his team for making sure ...

My 1965 Ford Galaxie 500 was bought sight unseen from Facebook. It was believed to have been abandoned for 20 years before being imported to the UK. Will we get it running? Do you want to see more of the restoration? Let us know in the comments. We finish scraping the underseal and start the floor repairs | Part 16
มุมมอง 13K4 หลายเดือนก่อน
The last few weeks has been hard work, chipping away at the underseal to reveal the rot that needs to be repaired. There is more than we thought, but we hope to fly through it. Matt has also thrown a spanner in the works by wanting to fit an overdrive gearbox from an MGB. It's not a straight forward swap. What is wrong with our new E30 325i Touring.
มุมมอง 6K4 หลายเดือนก่อน
We bought this MOT'd BMW 325i Touring from a salvage auction. It still has a bit of MOT left, so Matt wants to put it into daily service. But what is needed to get the car though the next MOT? Lets take a look. Music from #Uppbeat (free for Creators!): uppbeat.io
We fit the original engine back into this 1960 Ford Prefect 30 years after it was removed.
มุมมอง 18K5 หลายเดือนก่อน
Simon bought this 1960 Ford Prefect in 2022 from its first owner. He has known the car a long time. The original engine burned a valve and Simon sold the owner the engine that is now in it. When he bought the car, it came with the original engine, so Simon had it rebuilt by Lockside Engineering, and it's time to re-fit it. This Prefect has also appeared in a few episodes of Heartbeat. You did not just glue a distributor cap together!!!!
I like that you made the point to stress that Ant and his team had helped when the transmission issue was discovered. Most other people would have dumped on him over it.
I had earlier version a 77. It also had a ruined clutch and huge holes under the windscreen, but what a car .
Happy New Year all! 50:20 that looks like a US 4dr Chevrolet Chevette to me 🙂👍
Sud fan! On the program Ant said it’s not that quick 😂 someone on an Alfa forum summed Alfasuds up perfectly, by saying to a young enquirer, ‘the only thing that would keep up with an Alfasud on a twisty road was an alien space craft’. As a 1.5 that’ll fly 👍
Yeah, the cheap Russian steel thing is a myth. Back in the days, a certain amount of scrap metal ended up in steel production for cars. Italian cars tended to use more scarp metal than usual (not 100% sure why) in its steel for car production, which made the steel inferior in quality against rust. That and they did very little in the way of rust proofing and the drainage systems were badly designed. This occurs in particular in the cars produced in the Alfasud plant near Naples (had 15,000 employees back then). So called ALFA sud, as it was the ALFA plant of the South(= sud) of Italy. ALFA means, ‘Anonima Lombardo Fabrica Automobili’ or roughly translated, ‘Anonymous Lombard (the region in Italy where Milan is the capital) Factory of Autobiles’. Because ALFA Romeo was born and based in Milan and FIAT was based in Turin.
Even thought Ant said he was testing it “on the open road”, like the other 7 cars he ‘restored’ he drove it on the test track at Mira proving ground, I wonder why? The Lotus blew up going down hill and pretty much every car made a loss. Tells a story all of its own I guess.
Guys, please try to keep the camera steady so we can actually see what you are trying to show us !
FFS - Wot are all these tyre kickers standing around with great big mugs of tea like charwomen on a break for ? LOL.
The rust free alfasud isnt as rust free as it was said and looks like someone has done repairs in the past Ant probably didnt want to get involved
Some quality footage that never made it in the videos. Very funny
Ant Anstead “ born mechanic”. . ? Funny that. He’s not even a qualified mechanic. 😮 Ed China.. fully qualified…Elvis…same ….Ant……..errr …ex copper. DIY er…….
I don't know if Matt is the star of the show...or he needs professional help 🤪🤪🤪
Yes.
Oh l love seeing old 'farts ' hanging around drinking bloody tea , have you guys got nothing better to do It's time to pull your socks up & finish the bloody marina ? Why cos l think I will be dead by the time you all finished it ! Merry Christmas 🎄
Merry Christmas. Want to lend a hand?
Sure but , there are fees & Charges sadly for room & Board plus airfare from Melbourne Australia to U.K. what's the nearest airport to your shop ? Sorry forgot car hire 😳 😳😲😲😲😲😲😲🤭
I'm way behind on my TH-cams, great video as always lads.
Excellent, I really enjoyed this, have a great Christmas chaps.
Thank you. Have a very Merry Christmas, Graham
I fitted an Accuspark distributor to my "Yorkshiremans Bentley" or MK2 Reliant Robin and it was night and day from points to electronic, the power increase was palpable and the revving range just so swift and sure, I also use Accuspark's triple pronged spark plugs, their high performance HT leads matched with a Lucas Gold performance coil and a NOS completely virgin SU carb the car went from slow poke to quite a scary machine. OK mine thrashes out at 100mphish but it gets there bloody quick and there is a bit of Marina in my 3 pin plug... the gear lever is from a Marina as are the door locks in the interior so if you are in need of interior door stuff Reliant parts will do the job cheaper hehehehehe
The value of the restored car will be less than the cost of the welding wire used to fix it...
Have a good un chaps..
You too!
Merry Christmas lads thanks for the great videos. Cheers Russ
Have a good Christmas, Russ 👍🏻
Happy Christmas you lot from Tasmania Australia…….which is about as low as you can get……..South I mean……😄
Merry Christmas! Thanks for watching!
great banter gents, really love the videos - i tried the drinking game, but was p!ssed after 15 minutes
Looks like you won!
Ah'll 'Ave ter coom back ter this drinkin' game cos I'm bladdered....merry HIC! Christmas
Thank you for the Christmas present brilliant😂
Tea bags 🎅🎄
Happy Christmas chaps and thanks for the content!
Please steer clear of accuspark .very poor quality and troublesome
Onces bought a bright green clover leaf back in the 80s at midland road car auction in Bradford because i loved the rasp sound of engine.my friend popped the hood whilst i was sat admiring the cosy interior he shouted great tyres so i said is that where the spare is and he then said no he could see the front wheels through the inner wings.i was gutted but never bought an alfa ever again. Shame because they got style.performance but may as well been made of paper.❤
Umm AccuSpark!
Bril!. Always a laugh! and always an education for a mechanical 'Noddy' like me!. Nice one!. 🫖☕️
Oi! Tight arse! For the sake of £30 buy a new rocker shaft!
Yeah I know 😂 But the shaft actually isn't that bad. Bushes are a bit worn. A refurbished set of rockers and new shaft would be the only way forward if replacing. But let's be honest, how many miles will this thing do 😂
I’m thinking or interested ? What’s the life expectancy of the engine now .? In comparison to synthetic oils and mineral oils ! Unleaded petrol ⛽️ Should be 100 k plus without a spanner on
It will see us out 😅
Ah. Work progressing on the Moritz Margarina Grand Total. Nice. Good luck, thanks for sharing and have all a nice refreshing holiday season !
Thank you. Merry Christmas!
That wheel tub bracket was a notorious rust trap in the day, always used to check that spot when looking to buy one.
Don't use the accuspark dizzy, they are complete junk, you will definitely have more chance of breaking down with that than the original points and condenser. Parts quality in general is poor nowadays.
Sorry to moan, just a personal experience! Lol
No worries. Thanks for the heads up.
@@richardhaywood4123thanks for the advice. Have you had one fail then?
+1 on the accushite ignition. Either aldon electronic ignition or lumenition. 123 ignition is a bit hit and miss too.
@@aly369interesting, thanks all
Looking at the way the Marina was built, its almost as if it was designed to corrode away, so many rust traps you are doing a grand job, and making me feel guilty at doing nowt to the Morris Oxide !! hopefully after Xmas I can get back on with the old heap have a nice quite Christmas all of you, and take it easy for a few days
Thank you. Hope you have a good one too.
Have a good un and keep them coming with this old girl.
You too. Thanks for watching!
That's a cracking job you lads are doing. Glad to see the abused wheel trims came in handy. Is suppose you have to be careful of a RSPCWT inspection 😅 seasons greetings to you all, Russ
Cheers Russ. And a merry Christmas to you too!
surprised you can still get new parts for the car
Nice job chaps & a Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to all at the CCC HQ.
Thank you! And the same to you!
Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Chaps.
Thank you. And to you too!
well i get it all the time crap new chinessim junk
Ooh i shall watch this multiple times over Christmas! With a suitable tipple of course!
Take a drink every time Matt cleans something.
Thanks for the Christmas present really enjoying it👍👍👍
Great video. Black Alfasud Super 1.5. Great car. The Alfa Romeo experience is simply remarkable. Way way better than entry level BMWs and Mercedes. If only Alfa Romeo can get over the reliability issues, the next 20 years should belong to Alfa Romeo. The Alfa Romeo magic lives on.
It's way too late. Stellantis are busy going bust and making junk like the Tonale. The current Giulia will be the last proper Alfa.
I served in the army in Germany for most of the 80s, a fellow soldier sold his 1978 Beetle and bought a brand new 1983 Alfasud Cloverleaf, I had a drive of it, great fun to drive and was very stylish. I don't really know why he sold the Beetle, he didn't push that, the Alfa was a car for fun and he viewed cars as a way to get from A to B with no fun involved. I got posted, went off to the Falklands, came back and in 1986 bumped into him again. We had enough time to share a couple of beers. He told me he had just finished paying for the Cloverleaf, and considered buying it was the worse decision he'd ever made, it had spent 3 winters in Germany, done about 30,000 KMs and it was rusting away. He told me he'd stopped drying the car after cleaning it, because bits of rust caught in the drying cloth. Granted Germany back then salted roads almost daily to keep them clear, but 3 years from pristine bodywork to rustbox!!! What it is they say? A intelligent man learns from his mistakes, a wise man learns from the mistakes of others. I used his experience of Italian cars as a lifelong guide and have never bought any car made in Italy. Rust is never stylish.
That was worth way more than you paid for it. Stop crying. Terrible channel.
Terrible? I think not 😂
If you think it wasn't ants fault then why make the vid in the manner you did
I don't understand. We made the video because the clutch was knackered and we documented fixing it. If you listen to what we said, you'll hear that Ants team were keen to help us fix it. At no point did we suggest or imply it was Ants fault.
Back when this car was built, CCCP steel was probably the best available. That being said, none was used in the building of these cars.
Put electric power steering & a V8 rover engine in the Marina..
