Just found your channel, brings back memories, my father had a dark green Coupe in the late 70s, my mother swore it hated her as it always broke when she drove it!! I am guessing it was only a 1.3, but I do remember it losing all lights apart from the headlights one dark night!
My love of cars started in the 1970s, helping my Dad work on cars at weekends and late at night. DAD was an auto electrician and he could scratch build looms and repair carbs, dynamos, alternators and starter motors. We were a BMC family. Dad passed last year age 93. I still have some of his specialist tools. Do you know of people who could cherish them and make use of them. I'm in Bradford
Hi Graham. Your dad sounded like a great guy. To us, electrics is a black art. We tend to send all our electrical items to a place in Batley. That said, they might be of interest to Ryan. You're more than welcome to pop down for a chat. Drop us an email at the address listed in our profile.

@@crap_car Doing the carb spindle bushes isn't difficult if you go carefully, on the SU's i've done I made a drilling jig to hold the main body using the carb mounting holes and a machine vice to hold the jig, set it up on a pillar drill and worked up in drill sizes (drill through both spindle bush areas to maintain alignment in one action) until bush is a light push fit in the drillings (if the bushings are a tight fit they tend to be tight on the shafts making the butterflys not return smoothly), yes Burlens will do this but there is a cost but it is possible at home, also Burlens do "stay up" float kits that replace the all plastic float/float arm with a plastic with metal arm float (you can find the kits on their website) that tend to shut off the fuel better than the all plastic versions, hope this helps.
