Great videos, reminds me of spending every spring in the early 80s applying several pots of Isopon P38 to various rusting bits of my 74 Marina 1.8. Also reminds me that I never went anywhere in it without a full toolbox in the boot just in case it broke down.
Takes me back to my childhood in the 70's when my Dad would turn whatever old rust bucket he was driving into a showroom fresh stunner with little more than chicken wire, newspaper and a light skim of filler. It's real shame these old skills are slowly being lost.
Top notch appeal, poor Simon looking dejected at the no tea situation then elated after the tea care package has arrived. Pity it's too late for this year's oscar noms, always entertaining and informative, keep it up guy's 👍👍
Personally I think you guys are getting the balance just right ...humour.... mix of characters and educational ect just keep doing what your doing and we will keep happily watching....great stuff...👍👍
Been watching these youtube videos of cars that have been parked in the same spot and not been driven for years. I'm impressed with the knowledge and abilty of people who bring these cars back to life. The majority of people would send the cars to be scrapped because they don't have the knowledge, ability or finance to restore the cars.
Rev counters back then were rare, as were cloth seats, 5 speed gearboxes, and electric windows, air con and fuel injection were practically none existent, how did we manage ?
You know in 1971 when the Marina and Mk 3 Cortina were the newest cars on the block the Marina actually cost more. Probably had to order it too. That is brand loyalty. To be fair 70s Fords were every bit as bad for rust.
More holes than a swiss cheese. Usually cars in that condition get compressed to a square metal lump. Only enthusiasts try to rescue something like that. Thanks for showing !
The front spoiler at 2.46 appears to be from the Ital. The Gt wouldn't have had one. Perhaps you could use it as a sun visor? Ha , ha. The Brazil metallic TC is a rare one and deserves to be saved. Your doing a great job.
I had one, yellow black roof 1275 kent cam Keith Dod rockers big valves double spings high comp head ported and poliished lightened flywheel oil cooler custom made intake twin su and three branch manifold custom exaust lowered front spax shocks tc diff, they were the days❤
I had a 1300 two door, held together with copious amounts of isopon over sheets of metal from biscuit tins pop rivited into place. Amazing what you could hide from the MOT tester. My 'repair' camouflage of mud and leaves were epic! I was describing torsion rod suspension to a young car enthusiast and he thought I was pulling his leg. Had to find a description on line before he believed me!
My first car was a 1275 Morris Marina, mine had a novel "lucky dip" feature where you could use the gear stick to stir the gearbox and if luck was on your side another gear be selected.
An excellent video - thank you for sharing it with us. It's great to see such activity in the workshop, everyone working as a team and the project progressing well. Coming from a BL factory the car must be amazed at such activity. I think a nod should be given to BL during the restoration, perhaps your next video could start in true BL fashion by showing a picket line outside your workshop?
Great vid as always lads, love the banter and knowledge you all share..! The wheel cover is certainly earning its keep, make sure you don’t damage it or there’ll be another uproar haha …😊
Really enjoying the series so far -making me laugh and good technical content too 👍-always used to wonder in the 80s and 90s where all the brown cars came from though 😂who would go into a showroom to order a brand new car and choose brown(often with a beige vinyl roof)😂😂
It would be great to see you add some period accessories such as Richard Grant rear window louvres, front and rear spoiler maybe a centre console etc if not on this project, some other crap around the same vintage. Lovin the show😊😊
Enjoying the videos guys, you can get some new panels from the Morris Marina & Ital register, not everything is available but the head light panels seem to be there and various other sections, no prices on there though. look forward to the next video.
Cheers! We've joined the club but not bought any panels through them. Apart from the OS head light panel, (and doors and bootlid) I think we've got everything we need now. Si is going to make one.
Slowly but surely the Marina is shedding it's rusty skin for some fresh metal to rot again! I'm just joking of course, I absolutely adore the oddball cars from the 70's and 80's, the Marina is no exception as my dad recalls seeing a couple of them where I live back in the 70's!

Hi, I’d really like to know/see more about the everbrite 20:06 as I ‘d like a coating that keeps my cleaned up aluminium looking good. 👍 keep up the good work/fun. Will it be up for sale when/if 😜 finished?

What was so hard about taki ou the interior. Its stinking of welding. You could have dropped it at the valeting shop and had them all cleaned and wraped. And you can see what the floor is like. Strange restoration. Im just wondering. I been watching from the start.
There was a chance we could lose or break things. We wanted to keep everything together. We know the floor is mint from the underside. And there isn't a valeting shop around here.
