Well done lads! I was getting withdrawal symptoms. There’s a quick cheat on the front suspension top ball joints that doesn’t need torque wrenches. 1. Screw the bottom lock ring down as far as possible and add the lock tab. 2. Add the spring, the cup and the ball joint. 3. Screw the top cover down as tight as you can, compressing the spring, the balljoint will lockup. 4. Turn the top cover back just one flat of the hex, which will release the ball. 5. Now holding the top cover still, screw the bottom lock ring up and lock the two parts together and pean the lock tab under & over. 5. You’ll find the balljoint a little stiff by hand, but once the suspension is all fitted it will all be fine.
Get as much grease into the internal passage and in and around the cup and ball. Once all is fitted in the car but not sitting on the suspension, have another go with the grease gun until grease squidges out of the rubber dust cap.
Check out the Black Mass II Marina coupe drag racing car from the 80's. From memory, that used to have on Hoosier tyres. And a 383 V8. Wheel-stands galore 😁
Outstanding, Simon is far exceeding the Marina's structural strength it had when it left t'factory with all his repairs, and I quite like his brat it has to be said. You lads appear to be making great progress despite your recent lull, keep up the good work with the usual lashings of banter 👍🏻
Great too see your progress coming along... I can remember when most of the farmers round here had 1 of those subaru pick ups when I was a kid obviosly not that exact model but be quite a rare sight now ...great restoration 👍
In between the banter, there is is some serious craftmanship going on. Well done lads, coming on nicely. And a couple of cable ties will fix the wheel trims to those new wheel nicely 🤣
Those Subaru pick ups were relatively common on the farms near me when I was a kid, couldn't remember the last time I've seen one, I'd love one though they look so cool.
I had a Marina back in the late 80's, it was a rust box! I am surprised that you're channel has never come up on my feed before now! I love restoring crap!
I hated the Marina, it was all I could afford at the time. In the end I painted the whole thing with green hammerite and gave it to my Dad but I will be following your projects. I have several old bangers that I want to restore. One 1981 Saab 900, a 1994 lwb 4.2 TD Safari/Patrol, a 1996 Saab 9000 Aero and a 1996 Toyota Hilux Surf. My son has an old 1987 Micra and a 1987 Nissan Ebro pickup truck with the 2.8 Perkins diesel engine.
Fallen a bit behind this week, great video guys. If Richard B lets you borrow the BOM tyre stick-out gauge I reckon those Hoosiers are firmly in the "taking the piss" range.
You're providing high quality entertainment, not to mention a look over the shoulder of artisans creating masterpieces (and whatever Matt happens to be doing😉). Some things take time to mature and nurture.
Fan-bloody-tastic, chaps! One can really see how quickly that wee beasty will come together with all those bespoke panels - heritage and fabricated. A thought though - can you really call them heritage panels if they have to be fettled to fit? I suppose they go from heritage to bespoke then, so it makes the Marina (or any BL car actually) a one-off designer piece of quality British manufacture! Of course, that's what we always think when we hear the name BL, isn't it? Great to see the other projects you fellows have been working on over the years. I'd heard them talked about, so I'm glad you'll be showcasing them in future episodes as well - and that little Subaru looks absolutely corker! Here in NZ, they were branded the Halo.......yet I have no idea why. They are also known as a Brumby in Australia. I didn't know they were also called a Brat until earlier this year when I tripped over one being done up on another channel. Love that stripe kit they come with as it really dresses the little car up. That era of Subaru (and the wedge Leone that followed it) are my favourites - especially the quad headlight version of 83/84. Back when Subarus were not popular or common....but they still went - and handled - well and were supremely comfortable while doing it. Lovely to see such a beautiful example - and with such low miles too! Keep it coming, chaps (oo-er) and all the best!
you are doing a grand job, I am still tidying my workshop up and finishing jobs I should have done years ago !! I did pull a rusty indicator out of the wing though !!
You must have replaced 80% of the metal on the GT front, not like a BL car to rust like that! Good progress though guys, I have restored a few of my cars, its surprising how repairs snowball as you start taking panels and parts off. I don't suppose you have any idea how much you've spent so far, I bet its a lot! Thanks guys keep it up. 🤔
Brilliant work resurrecting a screwed Marina GT. Laudable to say the least and does you credit. At the end of it all though, you could almost have done an E-Type. Wouldn’t have been any hub cap action then I suppose.
Careful with those pistols. Remember those ones on the film set in USA that were supposed to be loaded with blanks but weren’t. Could blow your nuts off. 😳 And I don’t mean the nuts on the Marina. We have a Subaru Brumby (Brat) here in Australia. Same red but ours is a 91 model so has the four square headlights. It’s in VG original condition but not a show car like yours. You may know this but if you chasing parts a search for Subaru Brumby on Aussie eBay and Aussie Gumtree will bring up some stuff. Cheers.
Those pistols have been in my family for almost 50 years. We sent them to an antiques specialist to have them appraised and they were discovered to be non-operable replicas. So no chance of them blowing matts Nutts off. Si has been in contact with people from Australia for parts. He's had some success.
Thanks, and yeah a few parts fitted to it are from Aus and the US. The fuel tank and filler from Aus and rear disc brake kit from the US. Could do with a good contact for parts though, Si 😉
Your aint kidding about turning cars into piles of crap…phat tyres always look like shit except on racing cars …it was interesting but you aren’t serious
I don't think we said anywhere that we turn cars into piles of crap. It was someone's assumption on Facebook that we'd f**k this one up. How are we doing?
@@crap_car …well if u are serious about the pretend wheels then you have definitely f’d up….but you arent really intending to put those ridiculous items onto it…
Haha, even we have standards tha knows. I fancy some 14 or 15" wheels to try and give a different look to the car, but suitable ones are hard to find without spending £600

Chris, you absolute star! We should have asked you in the first place!

@chrisweedon3490 Bang on that's what I do on my minis. I was taught by my dad's friend jock who is a mini wizard he's 90 years old now.
Check out the Black Mass II Marina coupe drag racing car from the 80's. From memory, that used to have on Hoosier tyres. And a 383 V8. Wheel-stands galore 😁
That is mad!
Absolutely love the Subaru Brat, that's a wonderful job
Deep funky clav 🫵🫵
Thanks guys coming along very nicely

You lads appear to be making great progress despite your recent lull, keep up the good work with the usual lashings of banter 👍🏻
Cheers. As Simon said, it'll all quickly come together.
Front end is looking bloody good now. Great work on . Subaru is nice too
Cheers Paul!
Great too see your progress coming along... I can remember when most of the farmers round here had 1 of those subaru pick ups when I was a kid obviosly not that exact model but be quite a rare sight now ...great restoration 👍
love your Marina project guys yes please full vid would be great guys
Cheers Robert!
The MV is spectacular 👍🏻
Good work chasps
Thank you!
Awesome video again! Lovely Subaru aswell, looks stunning! Very low miles
Another cracking film. It's good to see it progressing 👍👍
Thank you!
In between the banter, there is is some serious craftmanship going on. Well done lads, coming on nicely. And a couple of cable ties will fix the wheel trims to those new wheel nicely 🤣
Thanks David!
Well done guys that motor will be spot on when you finish it, it probably will survive another 50 years now 👍👍👍👍👍
Cheers! 👍🏻

Nice. You'll have to go back and watch all 11 Marina episodes to get up to speed!
I hated the Marina, it was all I could afford at the time. In the end I painted the whole thing with green hammerite and gave it to my Dad but I will be following your projects. Can’t wait for the next episode well done
Any plans for a Morris Minor GTi. Turbo.
WOW he made a fantastic job of that Subaru Brat. 👍
The Marinas going to look great when its all done. Its a rare enough version that it will draw attention from all over, despite the haters.
Thanks you. With what we've got planned, even people who hate Marinas will love it. We hope.
Fallen a bit behind this week, great video guys. If Richard B lets you borrow the BOM tyre stick-out gauge I reckon those Hoosiers are firmly in the "taking the piss" range.
You're not the only one who's fallen behind! We'll be back up to speed soon!
You're providing high quality entertainment, not to mention a look over the shoulder of artisans creating masterpieces (and whatever Matt happens to be doing😉). Some things take time to mature and nurture.
Evening all it's good to see you back and a fair bit of progress well done.
And whilst I'm here graphite grease makes the top ball swivels last that bit longer .
Evening! Thanks for the tip!
My pleasure guys.
well it's getting there great blog keep them coming good welding as well Gary from Crewe 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Cheers Gary. Glad you're enjoying it.

Great video. Cowboy status was confirmed when you tightened the top ball joint with grips 😮
We have used a crank as a hammer in the past too.
That ferret... its not a chutney ferret is it?
:P
No you're getting confused with Matt. 😂
But why are the subscribers staying behind?
Im hoping the 10k mark will be reached soon!
We may have reached the limit of people who like Marinas.
you are doing a grand job, I am still tidying my workshop up and finishing jobs I should have done years ago !! I did pull a rusty indicator out of the wing though !!
One step at a time!
Hey, we all need to be inspired by our fellow imbeciles. Stay strong brother.
I've a n/o/s battery tray and the cross member that sits under the radiator if you're interested.
We may be. Drop us an email at the address in our profile.

We haven't been keeping a total. It's been spread over the three of us. We will total it up though for a future episode.
Any chance of seeing the Anglia 105e next time mate? 👍
It will be appearing sometime.

At the end of it all though, you could almost have done an E-Type. Wouldn’t have been any hub cap action then I suppose.
Thank you! I'm sure if we were doing an E type we'd find a part to abuse.
@@crap_car
I don’t doubt that!
Where's the hubcap ? Did you finally ruin it ? A there they are at 24:53. Missed them already ...
Yes, we didn't abuse it this week. Although Matt did drop one of the muskets on it at the end of the film.

Luckily enough I am already missing my nuts, so no danger there
Haynes manuals are not what they used to be. It mostly says take off part and send to specialist now
Ah. The Moritz Magarina again. Not much left of the original car ... Thanks for showing though !
There's loads left of the original car! Not much original lof the os inner wing though.
o yes gary from crewe
Full of crap again as usual, as enjoyable as usual too. Keep it going gents.👍
I think I missed the notification guys.
26:06 Don't let your kids play with guns. Your grandchildren will be very thankful. Stupid accidents happen with handling guns like that.
I'll tell Matt he should have put the safety on.
Dis we mention they were replicas? Kindly donated by Mike's dad
I'm 2 days late.
Your aint kidding about turning cars into piles of crap…phat tyres always look like shit except on racing cars …it was interesting but you aren’t serious

Yup, they are having a joke with us. Don’t take stuff too seriously.
