I was outraged to discover that you had cancelled the naming competition. Then I remembered that I actually totally agree with Matt. Watching your uploads has inspired me to build my own Marina, made entirely out of cardboard, just like Simon
I bet that hammer was made in Chyna! I saw many Marinas as a kid. I never liked them but I liked the badge. I always thought they looked boxy in the wrong way. Now I kinda like them. I see the American styling pseudo muscle car. Did they ever do a Diesel Marina? I have decided to restore a Marina myself. A matchbox Marina!
There was a number of Perkins engined diesel Marinas as fully functional in 1976 / 77 at the CAV plant Acton. I drove one many times as an apprentice our “job for the day” to drive along the Western Avenue between Perivale and Northolt / Uxbridge full throttle in various gears 2 through 4 foot on the floor to read soot emissions with a daft collector bolted onto the exhaust pipe. The work took an hour or two max, but we had most of a day to do it so cruised around West London for another couple of hours before going back to the Acton prooving facility. ps nothing like the levels of traffic there then compared to now. Take a look at some of the Sweeney episodes to see how little traffic there really was ! The roads weren’t closed for filming and a lot of the series filmed around Acton & Ealing areas.
Simon and Ryan have used them in the past but we don't possess any now. Simon did give a reason a while ago why he doesn't use them, but I've forgotten what it is!
Great to see the effort put in, all that hard work and fun at the same time. What was the problem with boring out the block? Can't have been rebuilt that often before. Even bored and sleeved is usually ok.
That inner wing looks like an absolute weldathon-I admire your determination-Its times like these you have to ask is fibreglass and underseal really so bad?😂

I really liked the Kermit idea as a name, and I will call it that in the future. And yes, men do name some of their cars, my Trabi is Dido :) Anyway, good to see progress and thorough work on this one, will be better than new if you keep it up like that.
Would using a twisted wire radial wiire brush (£7 from screwfix) on the angle grinder have not cleaned the flange sufficiently for spot welding the valance on? only asking as I've been welding repairing agri machinery all day and since getting the idea from the yorkshire car restoration channel now use it all the time as the brush is "fierce" enough to remove anything on the surface of the metal (wear ppe as it strips stuff off with some force), but doesn't really "bite into" good metal.
I've gone through a couple of those on my Peugeot Expert project - there's one brand that's probably the fiercest and most effective wire brushes I've ever used. I was reminded to wear PPE since one of the strands of wire got lodged in my cheek - I didn't even notice it for an hour.
@@julias-shedI was always taught (in electrical school) that voltage is not that important and that it is the Current which is the deadlier of the two ! (Just saying !)

I understand it's a GT etc. but was it worth it. When i was 13 years old i had a saturday and holiday job in a Garage with a old boy. We replaced panels and welded up these cars all day long. They was five years old. The amount of labour and materials you have in this car it must owe you 10 plus grand. Will it be worth that finished. Anyways. Good job.. God luck. 👍👍💪

Your dedication and perseverance during the shitbox GT resto is commendable, your enthusiasm fueled by copious amounts of banter and brews. 👍🏻
My favourite rubbish car channel. So much better than fixing my own rubbish cars.
Excellent Masterclass in tea consumption, Simon's not bad at the bodywork lark either.

A cardboard marina will undoubtedly be stronger than the metal marina made by BL

That second mug of tea looked perfect, but how the heck did he down it in one as the mug was still steaming when he finished it lol.xx

Its getting there lads.
I love that car! It brings back fond memories!

Thanks guys, you can tell Morris Marina's were built to last! 🤣
Welcome back chaps good amount of progress by the look of it.
Awesome as ever chaps!
Thanks again for the video!! Love it😊

Excellent ! you lads always make me laugh and the video's are very informative !
Thank you!

Another cracking and entertaining update👍👍.
I think that the state of the metal has something to do with sitting in a garage on the Yorkshire coast for 40 years as well as BL budget quality….
Thanks!
Thank you Jasper!
