Great miniseries. Absolutely phenomenal!! But nowhere near factual. In Bastogne, the 101st were far from alone. Two tank divisions, an armored tank destroyer battalion, two combat engineer battalions, two artillery battalions, and two heavy artillery battalions. It wasn't even remotely close to what is depicted in the series. But, it's an incredible story regardless of how inaccurate, with phenomenal acting.

I'm a Bronx Sicilian from the 1960's and my whole family lived there for three generations. Between the locations and the ambience this is right on the money. I was born in the hospital Don Vito was supposed to be in ("French Hospital") The town in Sicily my grandfather was born in is just a few miles from Corleone, and that all looks absolutely right as well.

@Noahzynski -- (👁👃👁) --- If you decide to continue through all three (many consider the 2nd to be best and the 3rd to be worst) please don't fall for the temptation to do the "director's cut" "Death of MC" edition. It cuts a lot and adds nothing. Really. But "The Godfather" really IS an opera in three acts. After a brief breather, how about being 💥The First💤(often overrated) to react to the Prime 10part series about the making of "The Godfather" called "The Offer". Bitch hard to edit, but a dream to watch. At least watch it. It'll make you want to watch "TGF" all over again. -- 🍸💃🌶💃🍸

I suppose it's worth noting that '2001' is Christopher Nolan's favorite film of all time. That's why it reminds you of 'Interstellar,' which one could argue is a sort of spiritual sequel to 2001. Definitely an homage, if anything. Besides pushing film sfx into a new era, Kubrick and Arthur C. Clarke's narrative structure has been extremely influential on space movies. Both Interstellar and Brian DePalma's 'Mission To Mars' pretty much have the same plot as 2001, and to some extent Ridley Scott's 'Alien' is similar. For me 2001 still hasn't been topped and a big reason is that it remains enigmatic. It asks more philosophical questions than it answers. In that way it's akin to a great painting. This helps keep it timeless.

Critics called The Godfather "the 'Gone With The Wind' of the 70s," as it was the first movie to top GWTW as the highest grossing motion picture in history. Steven Spielberg's E.T. (1982) would topple it's record followed by Jurassic Park in 1993 and Titanic in '97.

The book gives Luca Brasi's backstory. He is almost beyond belief in brutality and evil. The only man he fears is Don Vito Corleone, and the only man Don Vito fears is Luca. The song they sing at the wedding is very suggestive, as you might have guessed by the hand motions of the old man. Johnny, the singer at the wedding, was played by Al Martino, a real singer from back in the 1960s. Allegedly, the character was based on Frank Sinatra. Michael's uniform is a World War Two Marine uniform. Check Michael's uniform and see the medals he has been awarded. One is the Navy Cross. In the book Woltz is even worse than in the movie. Clemenza, Tessio, Sonny all think of Michael as a young kid. They forget that he's been in combat. The little old man playing the piano was Francis Coppolla's father, Carmine. The man who gets out off the car to talk to Michael is Don Tomasso. If you watch the second movie, you'll see him again. Did you see the scene where Sonny was getting "frisky" with one of his sister's bridesmaids? She's Lucy Mancini. If you watch the third movie, you'll see her again. You did notice that Carlo and Sonny were friends before he married Connie, didn't you. Did you hear Sonny mention Genco? That was Vito's first consigliere and Vito's friend. Vito named the olive il importing business after Genco. You'll see him in the second movie. Did Fabrizzio set up Michael and get Appolonia instead? Remember Fabrizzio was always talking about going to the US. The irony of Michael standing godfather while all of those hits happen is striking. It's pure blasphemy when he makes the baptismal promises. The baby is the director's daughter, Sofia. You'll see her in a different role in each of the other two films. I believe that she's one of only a few actors who appeared in every film. The fake cop is Neri. The assassin who kills the don in the revolving door is Willi Cici. You'll see both of them again. The guy who killed Pauli is Rocco and you'll see him again, too. When Clemenza says, "Hello, Carlo," you know; you just know. In the book you find out that Clemenza was Sonny's godfather, so he got to do the hit. Michael skated n a real technicality at the end. He didn't physically kill Carlo, and he can say to Kay that he didn't kill Carlo, but no honest person would say that Michael ws blameless. In a real way, he was more guilty than Clemenza. Watch both of the other movies in the series. Part Two is even better than Part One. Part Three is not as good as the first two, but it is a good movie, and it ties up Michael's story. Apparently, Coppolla said that the three taken together tell the Coppolla family story.

Excellent reaction, unlike most you-tuber’s who tend to over do it with their reactions..not to mention their dopey TH-cam presentation expressions…I would very much consider subscribing, but after checking out your playlist..I’m hesitant…I’m really looking for TH-camr’s who would frequently react to a bit more earlier film classics…just suggesting for instance some other earlier Al Pacino films; of course The Godfather part 2 is a must…Serpico 1973 and my personal favorite Dog Day Afternoon 1975 which was filmed in a nearby Brooklyn neighborhood where I grew up in….Interesting Godfather tidbit; in the street scene (which was filmed on a dead end street in East Harlem) where the crowd is watching Sonny give Carlo his much deserved beating…there’s a kid wearing white trunks..(fast forward a good decade later) he and I would be working for the same financial firm in midtown Manhattan..his name is Kenny Savio…he would eventually become a Senior managing director for the firm…Kenny who was from the Bronx, is one of the nicest guys to know….speaking of the Bronx…the Bronx Tale 1993 is another favorite of mine…and to those people with futile complaints about the film…listen it’s a cinematic gem of a film..period! And give us a break for those who tell you to watch part two because “it’s better than part one”. Yeah Ok.

There is an old saying in acting that you should never work with children or animals because they are too unpredictable and undisciplined. Marlon Brando's performance in the Godfather is famous for defying that rule in his first and last scenes. His first scene has him delivering his lines while holding a stray cat he found on set. The cat was never in the script, but Brando delivers his lines flawlessly while keeping the cat perfectly calm, demonstrating Don Corleone's powerful control over every situation. In his last scene, Brando has the same control over the child playing his grandson as carries out Vito's death. According to Coppola, that child was starting to become impatient until Brando had him mesmerized with his orange peel improvisation. This is why Marlon Brando is often called the greatest actor who ever lived. Marlon Brando was above the traditional rules of acting that all other actors were forced to follow.

@@noahzynski Rewatch Vito's death scene. The expression on that kid's face as he watches Marlon Brando is incredibly real. Notice how quickly Brando goes from scaring the crap out of that kid to calming him down and how the kid immediately stops crying and puts his arm around Brando when he is picked up. Coppola said that children and animals were naturally fascinated with Brando whenever he was around without ever knowing who he was. Martin Sheen said that when he invited Brando to have barbecue with his family while they were filming Apocalypse Now, all of Sheen's rowdy young children calmed down the moment Brando arrived and they were immediately fascinated with him.

It's also fun to see how people misinterpret Parts 1 & 2 as anthems for wife beating and toxic masculinity. Those are the same people who are totally lost in Part 3 because the absence of any wife beating.

This is my #1 favorite horror film. So great... and there is only one. You can 'one and done' with Halloween. (my opinion for sure, and the correct one :-)

Yes the Godfather is a Masterpiece! Combine screenplay, score, set design, script, the casting, acting direction, cinematography, light costume makeup, the entire thing is a cinematic Masterpiece 😊

To call this film anything less than a "masterpiece" is an insult.

Because you are a teen and apparently not aware of respect or traditional customs, Michael asking the fathers permission and saying the family may come along is a sign of respect to the Father and his daughter.

@@noahzynski I thought it was a threatening twist to tradition, too. At the very least, he was being honest with the Appolonia's Dad about what they were in for.

Noah, I truly enjoyed watching The Godfather with you. You seem to be a young man. But your reaction/comments were wise beyond your years. You NEVER or RARELY EVER spoke over the dialogue/key scenes. I noticed you timed delivery of your personal insights at points where it didn't take away from key moments in the movie. You showed impeccable timing, knowing when to share your insights with us. Sometimes, reactors talk over key parts of the movie. I really appreciate your style of reacting to films. Great job! Thank you, Noah! 👍

The fake fighting you mentioned was left in because James Caan really did rough up Gianni Russo. Russo was furious about it and refused to shoot any more takes.

The bone transforms itself into killer satellites. Watch the making of 2001. It’s epic. RIP Stanley Kubrick.
