That shoot out at the end is legendary. Omar is so badass just jumping out the window like that lol. Mcnutty is so far into this he can’t see how deluded he really is.
Facts!
The man who inspired Omar's character (his friend Donnie who gets killed in that shootout) actually jumped off a balcony like that once, but it was two stories higher. They brought it down a bit in the show to make it more believable.

IIRC the sole source of that claim was himself, however, so he possibly could've been exaggerating.
But that ties into the main thematic point of season 5 anyhow. Lots of people dislike it for being "less realistic" than the rest of the series, but as it's an exploration of news media and the construction and sensationalization of narratives the "less realistic" aspects (which still aren't even that far out there to be entirely unbelievable) serve as a sort of meta-commentary themselves.

Yeah personally for me I never had a problem with the fake serial killer storyline and always thought it was thoroughly entertaining and that's largely in part due to this episode. The Wire is just masterful at connecting all the pieces of its puzzle. Glad to see that you're enjoying it as well. Scott is truly something else...smfh lmao probably the most disliked character in this entire series, and that is truly saying *a lot* . Idk if you caught it as it wasn't shown in the edit but it was shown and discussed between Marlo and his crew that they were aware of Omar sitting on Monk and was using Monk as bait. My first watch I actually thought Omar was done for and was shook af 😂 We know The Wire is not afraid to go there chile, they don't play when it comes to killing off characters. But thankfully Omar being the awesomeness that he is managed to escape 🙏 An escape that was taken from a real person's experience like many other examples layered throughout the series. Such a great intense scene. Even though I will always love my Barksdales you can't deny that Marlo's crew is super efficient.
