And that is why The Wire is so great. Huge character dispatched with no fanfare and everyone gets on with their day. Just like in real life... Incredible

Go rewatch the scene with McNulty and the FBI profilers. They're describing McNulty down to a T. They really nail his personality and behavior. And it makes sense since he's the one staging the murders, and having made that phone call.

Omar's death makes perfect sense. His biggest defense all this time was his quick thinking and the fact that people feared what he could do if they took a shot at him and missed. But he hasn't been thinking straight for a while now, he's hurt, and very vulnerable. All it takes is for one person to see him for how he really was at that moment. Which fits the narrative of this season about how big lies have a life of their own.
Now go all the way back to season 3 and watch the episode where Omar has a shootout with the muscle in the Barksdale stash house and Tosha gets killed. When Bunk gets there to investigate the crime scene, there are some kids playing, and one says "My turn to be Omar!"
    Guess who that kid is.

He also didn’t see the little kid as a threat. He had a code where I wouldn’t even think he would have pulled his gun on a little kid. But the game is way more ruthless…

Omar.... a legend gone like he was nothing

That's exactly how Omar should have died. He was never going to get killed by someone he was looking out for or someone who was a perceived danger, but instead by someone he never would have expected, a kid. In his final scene in the store the door opens and the bell rings, Omar looks & sees it's a kid, and thinks nothing of it. But in the end it was the unexpected that gets him killed.

Omar’s death is perfect. It’s realistic , and the Wire has always been a realistic show. It would have very awesome to see him and Marlo have a “western stand off”, but like this show , life isn’t always like that. I think his death although tragic, makes a lot of sense. He never let his guard down , except when he saw a kid walk in he did for a second , and that’s what got him killed. He was blinded by revenge. Rest in peace to the best character on the show and Micheal K Williams himself , he did an amazing job portraying Omar

I don’t have a problem with the way OMAR died, I just didn’t want him off the show so soon cause he was the action part which every good show NEEDS, so eventhough the next 2 episodes are GREAT, I thought it would have been better with some action scenes which OMAR always delivered💯

You actually processed the death of Omar pretty well in real time. I've seen reaction vids come to a complete stop because the 'reactor' was in a state of shock and could not process anything farther.
Former U.S. President Barack Obama said that Omar was his absolute favorite character. Stephen King called Snoop the scariest women in T.V. history.
