The Ford That Started It All
Turn on subtitles or view the transcript at the bottom of the description if you'd like explanations on what I'm doing throughout the video
At 16 years of age, my world revolved around a 1974 Ford Gran Torino, my first car. Over the course of a few years I doubled the mileage on the odometer, replaced the engine 6 times, jumped it into a ditch, shattered the transmission, and learned all the wrong ways to try and fix a car. I thought I'd have it with me forever, but after surviving all the hardships I put it through, it was totaled when another driver rolled a stop sign. I reluctantly moved on. Years later and 6 months ago, I stumbled across another Gran Torino sitting in a tow yard a couple blocks from my house. It's an exact copy of the one I owned. 4 door, 302 engine, same upholstery, the only difference being the color. After waiting for the owner to find the title, I paid the steep asking price and began fixing it up. I have no idea how long it's been parking for, aside from a long time, but its days of sitting in the weeds are over.

The used axle came out of a very beat up plow-truck F350, I thought I could get by without replacing all the wear parts. I ...

I really like these Starsky and Hutch era Gran Torino's. Beautiful cars. Glad you could find one. I know how special a first car you owned and wrenched on can be. I'm lucky enough to have mine still after 13 years.
Well thats a mighty fine lookin automobile. I'll wager you could drive that to the Concours D'elegance at Pebble Beach and take the main prize. 👍
Keep it and put the 460 in it. I hope the mice survive but odds are against it. Thanks for keeping us entertained 😉

For that carb, were the transfer slots set correctly? Not having those set to squares can cut off fuel supply at idle
素晴らしいビデオ。
Great producer, great actor, great mechanic.
This has quickly become my favourite youtube channel. I am so damn glad I clicked on that first video. Keep doing what you're doing, you're one of a kind.
About the carb tebuild: why not soak the body and metal parts in cleaner after disassemble, before mechanical ckeaning? Like one of those carb rebuild kits that came wirh a soaking can full of solvent. The ones auto parts stires like O'Reilly's used to sell?
The gas tank rust removal idea was brilliant sir.
Very nice work.Absolutely excellent Provi. Nice Torino. I like.👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
These installments are so watchable because of the love that Mr. foreman has. He loves what he does and this kind of passion is infectious not to mention his talent at editing in a way that is routinely a crack up. I am convinced that if there was no camera, no subscribers, no likes, no followers, he would still be doing this and making it pay somehow.
man riding a motorcycle to pick up a truck so you can throw the motorcycle in the back and go home on your own is the smartest shit ive ever seen.
That was one of the good 302s back in the day Simon but hey bro I got a question to ask you can I find a way to get a hold of you and let's talk see if you can help me find an older car thanks bro
Cleaning the gas tank that way - absolutely genius

Good on ya for finding yours. 28 years later, and I still daydream about bringing my first vehicle back. I spent so much time, money, and blood keeping it on the road.
I peruse YT. Thumbnail by thumbnail passes. Then, the name Simon Fordman appears. I get a smile, then get a drink and a snack and press play. Another quality video for me to enjoy. Thanks for another gem. Your videos are awesome.
That body style of Torino is one of my favorites of all time.. Love that style of steering wheel to.. My uncle had 4 of those cars and I liked the 4 door more for some reason.
