I am perfectly comfortable on 25c on my carbon and thinner on my old steel. I have no doubt wider is better, but i actually enjoy the feeling of speed i get from riding a skinny tire with high pressure.

Something that's been eating at me is the whole debate on tire width. Personally, I'm fine with either 28c, 25c, or 23c; however, I do prefer my bike that fits a 28c for routes that have harsher roads (e.g., commuting such as to the office) and my other bikes that fit 23c for my training routes that have smoother roads (e.g., training). As for the loss because of vibration, I've heard that the wider tire is preferred, which makes sense, but (honest question due to my lack of knowledge) couldn't I just lower the pressure in a tire that is 23c or 25c and still somewhat achieve the same result for dampening the vibration from rough roads rather than resorting to a wider tire like 28c or wider?

I never ride on the hoods because I use downtube shifters. The braking is also never as good when done from the hoods because you have less leverage. It's like having a door handle in the centre of the door. I wonder if that is the reason so many people believe rim brakes are not as powerful as discs?

It was not easy to find the optimal position. I spent much time to try more and more settings but finally I have a good compromise for comfort and efficiency. Very interesting video!

This theft of your fantastic race bicycles is just so sad. I feel really sorry on your behalf. Hope your insurance will assist on the economic side. If you conclude that the specific Canyon is worth trying to re-establish in a way, I can support by searching in my country (Norway). Our aftermarket has one salesportal and is reasonably transparent and safe. Bikes are often in good condition (short season :-)). But anyway, when you are out cycling; every time you look over your shoulder, imagine all of us cheering you on!

Hopefully they were insured. I need to check on my insurance. I wonder if they could tell where you live from your videos. Not sure mine are worth paying a lot for insurance.

I’m in your camp yes more comfortable but I don’t think faster I’m still riding a Rim brake Cervelo S5 and I’m not convinced there is anything to gain going for a newer bike . I’m on the edge of French Alps and go up and down mountains no issues I do training rides with pros and they are on wider tyres discs and I still manage except I’m little tired after because I’m an old guy like you 😂 anyway good content I like what you do

This is another reason I don't buy used stuff on eBay or any other web market. If the parts aren't in the original packaging I won't touch it because more than likely it is stolen.

You do not have to succumb to the industry and buy a disc brake bike. You should search for a custom frame fabricator that will make you a frame that fits you specifically and is designed to offer you the ride characteristics you want. It doesn't cost any more than what the major brands are selling those fragile carbon frames for. The cost of frames coming out of China have risen to such a point they don't make sense. So sad to hear this happened to you. I can feel your heart is broken in your tone making this video. I keep my titanium bike in my house. I spent $11,000 dollars for the custom made frame and high end parts and nobody is going to get the opportunity to steal it.

After seeing your post I have immediately moved my bikes from the garage into the house. Fortunately, we have enough room to do it comfortably. Will also take a look at insurance options. This has been happening ever since bicycles were invented, but what happened to your bikes, let it be again a reminder for all of us to do all we can to protect our bikes. An interesting question... I think for the pros it makes a difference, 5-10 watts can decide. I know in timetrialing there have been top end range bikes which have not been fast and with them pros never managed to get e decent CDA.

I’m so sorry to see this news! Lucky enough to keep my valuable bikes inside my house as I’ve never trusted my American garage. But not everyone in expensive cities has the space. Recover and enjoy your new rides.
