I have a c64 rim with mechanical gears. Probably the best bike I will ever own. The next bike no doubt will be disc but only as it’s difficult to find a quality rim brake offering which is a real shame for those that want the choice. IMHO its sad that the narrative is pushed that rim brakes are somehow dangerous. The reason to move to disc is purely because the industry are pushing it that way. Or now maybe not…
Custom restored 2014/5 Dogma 65.1, BoB, Talon 40cm, 0 setback seat post, racing zero carbon wheels, Red 11s, EE brakes!!!! That seat post is difficult to find, it is the missing piece for my dream build.
A great steel bike like that should be a common option that you can go to any bike shop and get for around $1600, The bike industry is like the American Auto industry, they push what they want to sell for the most profit while ignoring what would be best for the customer.
Hey Federico I was wondering if you can do a new commuting guide video? Thought it would be useful for people with the colder months approaching and with so much experience doing it in the rain
@@fede1275 Yes, I’ve watched those! I believe it’s been a while since you made them so just thought since the channel has grown, a lot of people may have purchased bikes over the summer, and it’s a very wide topic that applies to people on all kinds of bicycles, that it would be nice to see.
A rim brake nowaday is niche. A 7k rim brake is even more niche. The exclusiveness is the only argument I could find to justify the purchase of this bike when you could have a Tarmac SL6 for half the price. Thanks Federico for your good video. Always a pleasure to see you smile on your bike.
I have 3 racing bikes and can directly compare old (rim brake, analogue shifting) and new tech (aero, disc brake, electric shifting) and can clearly state that the new tech is far superior.
Ciao Fede! I got excited seeing Siroko's cycling garments lineup, using your promo code they have great offers! May I ask, how tall you are and which Siroko jersey/bibs size do you wear? It would help to choose the right size for me. Thanks a lot, all the best! 👋
Great! I am 185cm tall and around 86Kg. For bibs I use L as other brands I had before like Rapha, dhb, Endura. For Castelli I am XL. For the summer jerseys like M2, M3, SRX and Gravel I wear M as I like them tight. For winter jerseys like M4, J1 and J3 I wear L.
Think it's super cool, I remember when they announced it last year. Still dont think it means much for the industry other than the Italian companies have the funding to release expensive rim brake options still. Pinarello still has the last dogma f in rim brake as well. Love it but would be shocked if it has an effect on the industry. I still like my rim brake bike too though lol
if shimano , sram and campagnolo can fit hydraulic braking in there brake/ shift levers they can easily fit rim brake cable in the levers. Campagnolo in particular would have , i believe , a huge market if they made there latest wireless esp group rim brake
The big surprise here is Shimano quietly released 12 speed Di2 Dura Ace and Ultegra rim brake groupset. There’s no rim brake options for 12 speed 105 Di2 and mechanical.
Yes, but it seems also impossible to find any of them. My dream set up is wireless lightweight electronic in rim. If Wheeltop managed to come out with half a decent option, why the big names can't do it?
I want more than anything an endurance geo rim brake frame that will take 30c or 32c tires. Disc is too fussy and requires too much maintenance. I’m just a casual rider.
Personally I feel like if I was going to buy a rim brake bike I'd rather just buy an older bike. There was a time when all the most advanced bikes were all rim brake so they're all out there on the used market and many are going to be more aero or just as light/lighter than the new colnago. I'm sure newer carbon layup tech might make the colnago more comfortable or stiffer in the BB without the harshness that used to be the tradeoff for it, but you'll save a ton of cash. I know some people say this about the new disc brake bikes but for me they're different because I value the new wider tyre clearances and thicker tubes allowed by the UCI now.
Yes, but they wanted only electric on this C68. I like mechanical as well, but it is definitely a cleaner set up with just the brake cables and wireless
@@krisbowditch827 miles better than Etap! I have had Red Etap since it debuted, and it is so slow compared to Campy mechanical. I think Campy is the fastest shifting of all groupsets.

Great a few manufacturers are doing modern rim brake frames. However for traditionalists like me, being e-groupsets only is a bit annoying. If you get a new frame, even if rim brake compatible it is electronic only so your older mechanical groupset won't fit. Then of course they stop making mechanical shifters/ groupsets because its so much easier and cheaper to make electronic ones with much fewer moving parts, and full of more plastic, rather than metal. I just hate how everything is electronic and needs an app to do anything with these days!
@@swites yes, it leave you some doubts for the future thinking that if the app is no longer working you would not be able to adjust your gears anymore. But it is pros and cons of analogue vs digital

Or now maybe not…
Definitely discs have their advantages, I just hope to have a small run niche still alive
Me gusta muchísimo los frenos de pinza. Me gustaría comprar ese c68
Love my Cannondale super 6 rim. I never ride in the rain so really don't need discs and light the lightness of my bike.
Such a nice bike
Custom restored 2014/5 Dogma 65.1, BoB, Talon 40cm, 0 setback seat post, racing zero carbon wheels, Red 11s, EE brakes!!!! That seat post is difficult to find, it is the missing piece for my dream build.
Great spec!
The price for the frame is wild.
😅
A great steel bike like that should be a common option that you can go to any bike shop and get for around $1600, The bike industry is like the American Auto industry, they push what they want to sell for the most profit while ignoring what would be best for the customer.
In economic terms it is called the prisoner's dilemma - making people pay more than they need to.
Hey Federico I was wondering if you can do a new commuting guide video? Thought it would be useful for people with the colder months approaching and with so much experience doing it in the rain
@@Millicente I have done a couple in the past, but might need to put the info together in a better way
@@fede1275 Yes, I’ve watched those!
Great point
I have 3 racing bikes and can directly compare old (rim brake, analogue shifting) and new tech (aero, disc brake, electric shifting) and can clearly state that the new tech is far superior.
@@user-d32658 and the majority of riders are with you on that. I am just asking not to cancel the small other minority 😀
Personally as a leisure rider, I still prefer lighter bike with rim brake. Easy maintenance/service, bike more responsive and climb faster.
it is kinda cool but i feel like if you want rim brakes, might as well just get a Colnago Master frame, which they still make in 2024
I looked at it while checking Colnago website, it's amazing
Just to keep the very small rim offering alive it is good news to me
@@fede1275 oh it definitely is totally agree there. The c68 is a beautiful bike too
Not just posting it
I will get one of those frames already connected my local colnago distributor to know ootions available
if shimano , sram and campagnolo can fit hydraulic braking in there brake/ shift levers they can easily fit rim brake cable in the levers. Campagnolo in particular would have , i believe , a huge market if they made there latest wireless esp group rim brake
They could definitely offer the option, Wheeltop managed to do it, they could do it as well
Banksy - a pound shop Tony Hart! (I also love rim brakes).
You'd better get saving Fede! 😎 12 speed DI2 is available with rim brakes...
My excuse is that it is impossible to find...
@@fede1275 Let me help by removing that excuse... it's available now in the UK - just search 'DI2 rim brake groupset'
Nice video ❤
C68 with rimbrakes. The Bike of the Bikes.
Did I see you in RP today?
I was on a C60 rim brake
Not today, I was there Saturday. Nice bike, would have been nice to see it
Have a Cilnago V1R with Rim Brakes and Campagnolo EPS...so may the guys need to search for some older stuff 😎
Tadej wants to take a rim brake bike up the mountains?
@@dougpence3862 they had to work hard for him to like the new V4RS disc...
Rim brake ❤
Shimano still sell 12 speed rim brake groups. It's wired though
I believe they should have an option for electrical rim, maybe only 1 version to still cater for the minority of rim brake users
I wonder if any of the top manufacturers will follow suit
Maybe not, but it's something
The big surprise here is Shimano quietly released 12 speed Di2 Dura Ace and Ultegra rim brake groupset. There’s no rim brake options for 12 speed 105 Di2 and mechanical.
Yes, but it seems also impossible to find any of them. My dream set up is wireless lightweight electronic in rim. If Wheeltop managed to come out with half a decent option, why the big names can't do it?
4:34 i think its an art. an IBEX looks for the highest point to avoid predators.
Banksy added some more animals in London recently
I wonder if the pros would ride this.
No chance 😂
yes, depending on where you live and ride you never need disc brakes
I want more than anything an endurance geo rim brake frame that will take 30c or 32c tires. Disc is too fussy and requires too much maintenance. I’m just a casual rider.
Best ride feeling = Bianchi Oltre XR4 rim brake and mechanical shifting. (But disc brake bikes does brake better)
Trek Madone SLR with Campagnolo 12 speed with rim brakes
I am still very tempted by the older Aeroad in rim, beautiful bike!
Did they not make the C68 with a lower stack and longer reach than the previous C series?
Not sure about that
This is so Tadej can win the Vuelta in 2024…..think I’m wrong?
Not sure if this is linked, but for sure Tadej had difficulties adapting to the new disc V4RS
Super record mechanical shifts like a dream, on par or better than sram red etap 👌
What a surprise a seller at last, robbing cartel industry, well said you.

Жаль что перестают производить велосипеды с rim brake. Я 3 года езжу на дисковом велосипеде и понимаю что эти диски не нужны. Еще совсем недавно все ездили на rim brake и все было хорошо.
Абсолютно
One thing they forget to mention....changing a flat...rim NO problem...disc a little more difficult...always skip that part 😅
@@miguelduhamel3394 that's true
you ideal bike: Bianchi xr4 rim brakes the peak of rim brake bike
@@lorenzodestefano4043 nice one! It comes maybe second only to a Dogma F in rim
@@fede1275 True. I do love the idea of wireless systems- just a bit beyond my budget. My friend had one of the first generation sram 11sp ones but the battery clip broke off his rear derailleur so he had to tape it on each time after charging to get it to work! Quite expensive to replace these new high tech derailleurs these days when before it was just a few hundred dollars.
