We have the same top 3 my dude. KOF 13, 98 ultimate match, and ‘02 dream match are my favorite, followed by 11 and 2000.

Muchi Muchi Pork is my favorite Cave game, and probable shooter all time! Bug Princess Dragon Party is probable better though. I played the first one years later since I do not have a Japanese Xbox, and I would agree the second Bug Princess game is much better.

What a Great shmups .. Sega Saturn still one of my favorite even in this days. But I’m really not understand this empty hype about this “ Radiant Silvergun” Very superficial game , graphics mediocre , very high difficulty , overall looks not very good ! Soukyugurentai Is Much much better shmup .. it’s piece of art ! Look at this amazing graphics, this animation this effect level , look at this style … this is incredible how game looks like in 90’ . Thunder force 4 is still amazing too , and of course Layer Section 2 !! Incredible style , amazing level of visual perception !! Best shmups games on Saturn .. one of the greatest 100% .. my opinion

Anyone notice he backtracks from his initial intro hook. he said only the top 5 or 6 are worth playing but ends saying no you can pretty much play every game when he said the exact opposite in the beginning. So why not just review every single game? except that one rpg your too lazy to play.

I played this year from PD to Zwei to Saga to Orta and yes ist was absolutely worth it. Especially Saga was an amazing experience

I played a game like these Raiden games but with helicopters . Do you know which game that was? On the 2nd level the whole stage goes fast as if the helicopters boost real fast throught the whole stage.help me find the name of it

Hey, can u search a PS1 SHMUPS game for me? It's horizontal plane shooting, bosses mostly Zodiac signs (Leo, Capricorn, etc).. And after defeating the boss u can equip it to upgrade ur plane.. Also, u can choose the next stage after defeating the boss.. I look everywhere but can't find it..

Yes hi I'm also a collector and have various systems, but unfortunately not everything I would like to have because a lot of shit is expensive and I don't see it to pay 160 euros and more for 1 game, some of these games you can get for the NIntendo Switch in a pinch, I got at least some games that are really very good, Radiant Silver Gun 17 Euros or Re Tail 60 Euros for the Switch and Thunder Force 4 and AC in the E Shop each 6.99 Euros and on offer 3.00 Euros and you can play it on the go

I remember the Christmas I had it back in 96. I wanted it because I knew it was by the people who did Sonic and . . . I didn’t like it At first I had no idea what I was doing or what I was meant to do, and left it alone to go play SEGA Rally for a week But something kept me coming back to try again, and eventually the purpose of it revealed itself to me and I got better at it. And better at it. Until I beat it. Which looking back is kinda theme of story and game mechanics coming together. It was the start of me beginning to think of games as art like movies and books. I’m not sure I feel that way anymore but that doesn’t stop NiGHTS being a formative experience for me

I was lucky enough to get it years ago and I'm glad I did. It really is a fun story. The parts that I have the most difficult time with are the ice area, and climbing the tower. The tower wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't timed. Id like to see this get a remaster. Maybe a full remake alongside Solatorobo. I haven't played that one cause I never had a DS.

I think Fichina deserves to have a higher spot, im pretty sure its simplicity is intended as its most players’ introduction to the medal system. Its 50 kill requirement means you most likely get the medal without even trying and that feels really intentional. There’s no other mission that really hands you the medals like this one does, so it feels really intentional. Also I agree that Venom 1 should’ve been the real ending. Just try playing that shit on expert, it’s impossible

Please DO NOT play DoDonPachi DOJ on 360. It's a very, very broken and bad port. A few years ago I definitely would've recommended everyone get a FreeMCBoot memcard for a PS2 and play the PS2 port that way, but nowadays the absolutely excellent M.2 Shottriggers port is available on PS4, so I'd play that if I were you. But DO NOT play it on 360.

Raiden V might not be the best game in the franchise, but you can't deny it has some absolute bangers in it's soundtrack (Not to mention the same person who made the OST for Raiden V is also the person who made the OST for Elden Ring, Yoshimi Kudo). Raiden IV will still be my personal favorite from the entire franchise from a gameplay standpoint because it has that perfect level of chaos for me without going overboard. (It's also the first Raiden game that I got 100% Achievement completion for on Steam, with Raiden V following soon after)

Darius Gaiden for the Playstation was a well known dodgy port especially compared to the pretty much perfect Saturn one. The best (imo) shooter for my 2nd favorite console. Darius Gaiden is still great for PS even with it's flaws, (frame rate, many special effects being cut etc) as the games sheer quality shines through.

This is the first time I see someone put XX higher than 1, X, 3.

A whole "review" that doesn't mention the game's main mechanic of using fighting game inputs for amazing maneuvers. Or the overspeed that lets you pickup power ups without losing much time. Brutal 👎

This and Burning Rangers I never had the chance to play, dont own my Saturn anymore. Those are the games that deserve a true to the spirit Remake nowadays.

it's cool to see Compile get mentioned on this list; it's worth noting that many of the devs that went and formed Raizing and developed Sorcer Striker were originally from Compile, so some of the studio's DNA ends up in some of those earlier Raizing games.

I've always really liked the Raiden series but was totally surprised and blown away when I eventually played the Raiden Fighters Aces collection on the Xbox 360; all the games were easily as-good (but turned up to 11). Had never heard of them before that! Great video!

Aside from the "undisputed king of shmups is undoubtably the Sega Saturn" comment (I grew up Sega as well but it's obvious to any shmup fan that the PC Engine/Turbografx makes that "undoubtably" part a complete lie since every single time this topic or poll shows up it's a super close race between the saturn and the PC Engine, even though I only became aware of the PC Engine in my late 20s, it's clearly a huge contender/challenger) and the fact you completely failed to mention how utterly broken the Saturn Dodonpachi port is, this was quality content! You've earned yourself a sub, my dude! Even though I personally find it sacriligeous to see Batsugun ranked so low! :D

Just got a modded 360 with 1992 games on it. I didn't know they had all these great Shooters. I just finished two that were on the list. Great so far. I thought my Dreamcast was king of the shooters. Thanks for the list.
