Welcome to the Mighty Overlander. Micro-Overlanding at its best in my 2019 JB74 Suzuki Jimny completing long multi week trips to short overnight solo camp outs. Is the engine stock? How does that go carrying all that added weight?
Yeah it is stock, fuel consumption has gone up and it does turn into a bit of a slug on the highway
Young fella camping is the best favourite thing to do is sit in front of a fire and flick a line (not that i ever catch anything 😂) Tony this would have to be your best episode yet made me miss my boys being that young (both 24 now they still come camping but drink my beers lol) keep up the great work cob see ya out there 🤙
Haha yeah it’s a great age to get them into it! They certainly enjoyed themselves. I’m sure Elijah will be on the channel again at some point. He loves getting out there, even more so when we can have a campfire!!

Does the slap on the hull affect the fish? What about approaching bonefish, redfish, tarpon etc … is this too much noise?
I don’t fish for those species personally but I imagine it might. Best bet would be to slow right down. When there is no chop it’s quiet but maybe the outback has a better hull shape for that?
Isn't the Jimny roof loading capacity is 30 kg? How much does the tent weigh?
Yer this is my question also. So if you go over 30kg and have an accident you’re not insured????

Simple & robust is ideal.. hard to do these days, we got a Dual Cab and good n all (yep fill them with to much crap) but TBH way too much electronics on em.. miss my old Ford Courier (pre ranger) still see it driving around.. Govt clamping down on stuff too..

How are you finding the rooftop tent so far?
So far it’s been great. I’m STILL waiting for some bloody rain in WA so I can give it a full review haha it’s just been so dry over here. About the only downside is the mattress is very hard. It is a personal preference thing but I’m finding I need to put a topper on it if I’m going to spend a few days in a row in it.
Nice if you can add more technical info on product reviews like size profile actual weights , as with all jimny owners we try to keep total weight on roof as low as possible.

hey mate! the solar on the bonnet is bolted down with rivnuts. i wish i knew about VSS as they have solar specifically designed for FJ and other cars

Is it waterproof without the cover ? And what are the dimensions open
Do you mean the canvas cover when it’s closed or the rain fly when it’s open?

@@xwhels I don’t think so as you would be exposing the underside of the flooring and water would get inside the tent itself I think. Whilst deployed the floor would protected by the tent itself, but when folded up I don’t think so. Other than folding it up in the rain to pack it away quickly I wouldn’t leave it like that for a long period
Just rewatched this and something I've learned recently with these Back Country meals is how to get away with a regular spoon. Once the water is added, close the ziplock, and when rehydrated, instead of opening the ziplock and hoeing in, cut the top half of the bag off and suddenly its the size of a regular bowl 👍
Oh yeah I knew this however I am a Gumby and every time I do that I tear down half the side and lose my meal haha
