Great video 👍👍 , major disadvantage on the LED lights are the fact that they are aftermarket items and suffer from quality control . Dont be surprised if you have water ingress inside your LEDs or if they fade away over time . Another disadvantage is fitting of those resistors . They are crimped into the harness and if the plastic crimp has a loose contact you will get a hyper flash again . A better option would be to opt for a flasher that is meant for LED lights and replace the old flasher under the dash . This way you dont have to install resistors in each of the LED lights or side indicators .
Im from India and own a suzuki gypsy which is the equivalent of your suzuki sierra with a G13BB engine and a longer wheel base . I paid a fortune for my LED lights but due to the cheap built quality - over time all the above issues started cropping up . Keep the OEM lights , you can always reverse the process🙂

@@MightyOverlander Hi , did I hear forced induction in the end . Few years ago I was really keen on importing a supercharger kit from Australia to India , for my zuk with a G13BB engine as it is also under powered . I initially chose the rotrex supercharger as the kit is less intrusive and incase something goes wrong the vehicle can limp back home . With retro fitted turbo kits , reliability will suffer . Also the engine will be more prone to pinging n damage if fuel quality is bad . Seeing you take your zuk into remote locations I will not recommend the forced induction way . But its your ride n your decision finally 👍

Lots happening over the next 6-12 months. Now the rig has hit 100,000km we are going to pretty much doing a full overhaul of the set up. Suspension, roof system, cargo in the back, electrical and maybe even some under the hood goodies 😉

My Jimmy failed an inspection in WA because there were no red reflectors on the rear end (after I switched out the tail lights to some similar to yours). You'd probably get away with it due to the rear door brake light but you never know. I added some stick on reflectors from SCA either side of my number plate - job done and now perfectly legal.

I live in NSW and I'd presume it would be the same issue across all states in Australia regarding the red reflectors still mounted on the rear of the vehicle. Usually they're incorporated into the tail light housings to save on costs, but also as I think from memory it needs to be within 30cm ish from the sides of the vehicle or around that, check your states guidelines to comply to ADR (Australian Design Rules) etc.
The idea is at night if the vehicle is parked on the side of the road the red reflectors placed on the edges of the vehicle helps easily identify if there is a stationary vehicle parked there to help avoid crashing into it and you know how large/wide it is judging off the width/gap between each red reflector to help identify at a quick glance if its a large truck, or just a small hatchback car for example.
So mounting red reflector stickers from Supercheap Auto right next to your number plate might still actually be illegal, as it isn't close enough to the sides of your vehicle and doesn't meet ADR standards etc.
You'll probably never get busted but technically if you meet a grumpy highway patrol cop that knows his stuff he could still defect and fine you, also insurance could potentially wiggle out of paying out in an accident.
Again all highly unlikely, but possible.
Also if the light housings themselves are not ADR approved either, then you're facing these same issues. I'm not sure if there are any ADR aftermarket approved tail light housings available on the market yet I havn't checked myself, but the cheaper and probably safer bet would just be replacing the factory halogen globes with quality LED ones inside your factory housings like from Stedi or whoever. I plan to eventually just replace the reverse globes with LED in my JB74 to help see at night reversing in the bush.

Oh, does the Mighty Jimny have no LED-Light in the front?
I'm asking because if the Jimny has the LED Headlights, then you normally don't need the LED Load Resistor.
Taking off the rear bumper is normally not necessary, it can be done even with tires on the car.
Only unscrew the three nuts and use a small hammer for touching the screws, so that the rear lights can be taken out.

Hey mate, yes it does have LEDs headlights, however incandescent indicators and fog lights and daytime running lights. A few guys who have installed these LED tail lights have come up with the double flashing issue. I have changed two of the 4 front indicators to LED as well which may be the reason the small resister that came on the lights was enough.
And 100% you don’t need to take the bumper off, but like Phil says in the video whilst in the workshop we did it so you guys could see the inner workings behind the bumper. When I’m the good workshop with the good tools why not! Thanks for watching
