Like every other offroader, the one piece of kit you hope you never need to use. Looks the goods mate.

Really informative video. There are so many winch reviews that show bugger-all info about the actual winch. Manufacturer Videos are even worse.
Donating a $1200 winch to The Mighty Jimny is probably the best use of advertising budget Warn have ever invested in.
That said, in my opinion, winch solenoids siting in the top centre of bull bars do look so naff. Complements the ARB Summit bar perfectly though...

Thanks for this - I am thinking of having this installed in our Jimny.

Glad you liked it. It’s a pretty straight forward install and a great piece of kit!

Running the Earth direct to the battery, and bypassing the Current Sensor on the Earth terminal means that the Smart Alternator is not aware of any current the winch is pulling. This will damage the battery over time. Considering that most winches have the potential to pull more current than the 370CCA battery can provide, this can be extra dangerous on the Jimny.
You are much better off earthing outside the sensor, either by extending/replacing the earth terminal (ideal) or earthing to the body at the other end of the earth cable (less than Ideal).

Great video. What battery do you run for winch and gear? Is the stock battery good enough?

    • @MightyOverlander
      @MightyOverlander  ปีที่แล้ว

Yeah just the stock battery for winch and car, nomad PDU for fridge and camp accessories

Great vid. Are you concerned about the diminishing performance with every accessory? She's starting to get seriously heavy. My friend has a very similar setup to yours and its a lot less capable than my minimally setup JB74, especially in the dunes.

It depends on what kind of 4x4ing you plan on doing. If I was setting out to create a comp rock-crawler then my focus would be on exactly that. I’m aiming for a micro overlander/tourer where I can tackle most tracks, have quality recovery options when needed and have all the gear I want for multi-week trips!

    Final comment,
Always isolate the positive cable of your winch.
You don't want a live wire in the crumple zone of your vehicle.
You also don't want someone to maliciously fold your 4wd down the middle using a paperclip...

This is actually happening this week, I just didn’t have time to grab the isolator for the video 😂 this isn’t actually my job (however I wish it was!)

You need to get a Yankum Rope fair lead.

Warn gave you the shittiest Chinese winch they produce. You should've told them to give you a M8000-s. It's smaller, lighter, and more powerful.
Also, your bull bar looks like it requires an offset fairlead.

Haha yeahhhh it doesn’t really work like that buddy. I don’t demand anything I am a small content creator who appreciates any help I get as it’s expensive to produce these videos everyone gets to watch for free. Thanks for watching.
