Your overlanding is different from mine. You’re in AUS, I’m in GUA. As you’re young you sleep in tents, as I’m old and sleep in hotels. Yet this video was educational for me. Thanks for sharing.
    -
You haven’t used your winch yet. From my point of view having a winch is more a charity than needed for personal use. That’s why I’m going for dual diff-lockers before/if ever/ a winch.
    A trailer…?
    - Naeee … At a simple speed bump the car will bounce twice, front & rear. With a trailer it will bounce three times. Transfer that to off-roading…
    - Not my cup of tea.
I like how you, between the lines, say ‘Keep it simple, because you ain’t got space for anything else’.
That’s the core of the Jimny. It’s one heck of an off-roader, but you have to be a Spartan.
The Jimny is too small for bad attitude but it’s the largest one for happiness, laughter, and jokes.

@@MightyOverlander I would say you are lucky living in Australia for a lot of reasons but mainly -a, the great weather and scenery and b, the great weather which means your Jimny wont rust!! Here in England the roads in winter are covered in salt and the underbody corrosion on my 3 year old Jimny is really bad despite regular hosing of the underside, anti rust treatment from the factory is zero! Also the painting of the bodyshell is really poor, under the bonnet there are large areas that have not been top coated and rust is coming through there as well, a camera inspection inside the chassis rails shows extensive rusting on what appear to be weld joints in the chassis construction.

I'm delighted that you have Des Sol products on your vehicle. The one thing you did not mention was which rubber mats you are using - my preference for mats are the South African manufactured Addo mats where I have the full set plus the mat for the rear. Since I have a great deal of photographic equipment that remains in the Jimny while I am strolling away from the Jimny, I am investigating a fitted drawer system that will offer a secure lock-up facility. Other than tyres and a suspension upgrade/lift kit, rock sliders, radial cup protectors and a differential breather kit (Des Sol of course!) are what I consider essential to turn the Jimny from a 4x4 cabable into a capable 4x4 vehicle. I also have both the front and back Des Sol recovery points fitted and the Des Sol front and rear differential and transmission protectors are on my soon to-do list.
    * Under small accessories I have an Indeflate tyre inflator/deflator plus an Ingco cordless tyre inflator, an Ingco Worklamp and the Ingco USB-A charger all of which use the same Ingco cordless battery system.
    * The USB-A charger coupled to an Ingco battery is used to power a 5v string of LED fairy lights coiled into an empty though weather-sealed 2 litre plastic cold-drink bottle that I hang or place somewhere convenient when camping and this lighting system can stay on all night for security purposes without draining the battery. At night I often leave this light-bottle inside of the Jimny placed on the dashboard for ambient light around vehicle plus campsite.
    * I also carry a Gortech Scissor jack that is such a massive improvement that I won't even consider a high-lift jack.
    * A critical small accessory is the dummy-seat-belt clips that I can insert to stop the seat-belt alarm when I do not require a seat-belt away from the main roads.
    * A small collapsible umbrella is standard equipment as is a medium sized wool/acrylic blanket since there are invariably passengers complaining about freezing and whinging about wanting to go home.
Keep on making these excellent videos.

Would you please tell me the cons of the ARB Track Pack, as I remember your older videos when it was installed on your spare wheel. Actually I like its color. It will be nice looking on my chiffon ivory Jimny. But I feel it will be bulky on the stock wheel.

    • @MightyOverlander

It is crazy how much more stuff has become available for the gen4 jimny's in such a short time vs the production run on a gen3.
Our South-african guys does make fantastic products.. Des-sol for instance they are 100% all jimny they do not make anything for any other vehicle. they have also released a Longrange replacement fuel tank. and you can look into their rocksliders when you go into that in the future if they are available in Aus. They have been stress tested in the harshesed of conditions and they just keep holding up.
