Great review. Greetings from Scotland. I have an OEX Vertex Lite roof tent which looks identical to this and is 1100 wide. Also the Wildland roof tent looks the same. I had condensation in mine with only me in it and windows open possibly due to temp and heavy dew in morning. Bought a battery fan which I'm sure will cure it. I like the lightness of it and due to the base construction you won't get condensation there as not a solid floor like some RTt"s. My car is si ilar to Golf R estate except a Seat so the lightness helps with long distance and stability. Roofnest are doing a similar design to this too. A wee tip, when you are putting the ladder away the horizontal red sliders at the base overide all the red buttons on the rungs so you only have to slide these in and the whole ladder will collapse. Thanks great review look foward to you using it in the rain like we get in Scotland !
that is EXACTLY the same dune rooftop tent called Nomad 130cm. I have one of those and i can assure you it's the same tent, rebranded and different colours. so funny lol
Is it common to get the suspension upgraded on a jimny? Also are the stock roof racks suitable for the drifta lite rooftop tent? Finally how best to limit noise on the roof when driving?
Hi from Brisbane:) I am waiting for my Jimny 3 doors, and definitely need a rooftop tent! Thank you for the video! Wondering where I can get one from BNE ?
Thanks for the video, people should consider rooftop weights more, even on bigger cars. I've got a prado but 100kg limit incl. weights of bars is still a limitation. Keen to hear more about how you go with this tent, seems like a good lightweight option, easy on the wallet/ budget too.
Thanks mate. So you’ll likely see it being used in the wild on the Tv show, in my camping videos and on the wildtrak channel prior to the next videos. I’m hoping to have the install done by November but worst case I’ll do it later after I do the review. The install itself is more about the new roof setup rather than the tent install itself.
Thanks for sharing this video Tony you’re Roof top tent looks awesome and your Jimny is definitely looking the part. A couple of questions can you leave your pillows and Dunna inside your tent when packing it up ? And are you able to set up inside it ? .
Have had the desert cruiser style for a couple of years now and it’s been excellent. Only downside is that you can’t leave a lot up there. But apart from that they are well built for the price.
@@MightyOverlander Yours looks a bit cramped you can’t kneel up to get dressed. Also it will be a bitch when your ladder gets dirty as it’s hard to close.
Quality stuff Tony. I've always been a tent/swag camper and haven't had anything to do with rooftop campers. My Jimny is also my daily driver/work vehicle so I'm not interested in carting everything around every day and being mindful of carpark clearances etc. What's involved in mounting unmounting it?
Looks awesome!! How do you reckon a stock Jimny would do with that tent on top? Was thinking I could just keep the ladder insider the car to further reduce the weight
So far it’s been great. I’m STILL waiting for some bloody rain in WA so I can give it a full review haha it’s just been so dry over here. About the only downside is the mattress is very hard. It is a personal preference thing but I’m finding I need to put a topper on it if I’m going to spend a few days in a row in it.
@@xwhels I don’t think so as you would be exposing the underside of the flooring and water would get inside the tent itself I think. Whilst deployed the floor would protected by the tent itself, but when folded up I don’t think so. Other than folding it up in the rain to pack it away quickly I wouldn’t leave it like that for a long period

It’s the UK OEX Vertex Lite.

I have an Ironman Uber Lite I can confirm it is literally the same tent

I am here with the thoughts of buying a jimmy and getting a roof top tent. Thank you for the video mate !
It’s worked well for me over the past 6 months. Been a bit too busy to get much content out but I’m going to try and get some done soon 😅
Could you fold it with an extra matress, pillow and quilt still inside?
How does the tent affect handling on the road, esp at speed and in windy conditions?
Is the ladder load bearing too?
great review thank you
I had thought the roof weight limit of a jimny wouldn't allow even a RTT as light as this.
Hi from Brisbane:) I am waiting for my Jimny 3 doors, and definitely need a rooftop tent! Thank you for the video! Wondering where I can get one from BNE ?
I opted for the Alu-Cab LT-50 mate. Coming in at 50kg’s and with a very low profile, I’m hoping to get some joy on top of my Jimny soon. 😁
Nice!
@@MightyOverlander, did you convert your Frontrunner roof rack into load bars for the new tent set-up?
@@johanneswehrmann yeah I did, all that will be explained in the install video when I finish the roof system
@@MightyOverlander, thank you mate, looking forward to some more great content. 🤙🏻
@@johanneswehrmann thanks mate! I’ll be at the Sydney, Adelaide and Perth shows this year as well

Unfortunately you can’t leave your pillows in. And I can sit up in it but I’m also pretty short haha

@@bjgtrev1970 I haven’t had that experience yet but I’ll await the end of the year for my final review
Does the entry way door roll up at the top or bottom of the entry
Rolls down to the bottom so you don’t have a cold tent flap on your back in the morning 😂
Would love to see another review now that you used it for a while.
Expect to see one towards the end of the summer!
@@MightyOverlander perfect! Will keep an eye on your channel mate
Looking great mate! Do I spy a certain blue thumbs up on that rear window???
You certainly do my man!

Haven’t had any issues with car parks at all. You’ll be doing a full video on the install but it’s very very easy. 4 brackets on your load bars
Can you sit straight up in your RTT?
Yes but I’m short
Looks awesome!!
How do you reckon a stock Jimny would do with that tent on top? Was thinking I could just keep the ladder insider the car to further reduce the weight
Personally I wouldn’t recommend loading up the vehicle much with stock suspension.
Nice vid Tony, what roof racks are you now using?
Still front runner mate. But I’ll be changing them to the lower feet and using the quick releases when we do the install
Good stuff Tony, love your content mate.
Thanks legend
Damn. Looks like a quality item...
Yeah I’m happy so far but it will be a while before I can give it Tony’s 100% tick as I need to use it more. However it’s pretty good so far
Gee that looks like dunes an Ironman does one too ; I no dunes tent weights 38 kg too without the ladder - 45 kg all up
Hopefully someone will come up with a RTT with the perfect weight for the Jimny
.

Привет) Отличная автопалатка!
Is it waterproof without the cover ? And what are the dimensions open
Do you mean the canvas cover when it’s closed or the rain fly when it’s open?
@@MightyOverlander no when it’s closed but without the black cover

Is it the weight 38 kilos include the ladder?
I believe it’s just the tent however I’m only able to go off the website for that data.
@@MightyOverlander do you think I can keep the ladder inside the car and just install it when I want to use the tent?
@@charpwar yeah you could, it’s just two bolts
Isn't the Jimny roof loading capacity is 30 kg? How much does the tent weigh?
Yer this is my question also.
So if you go over 30kg and have an accident you’re not insured????
@@jonwhite5427 yes, that's what club members said to me.
Same as the Dune one at Anaconda
Nice tent! Are those tent covers waterproof? Would be hard to squeeze that jeep in a garage 😅
Yeah the cover is water proof. And yeah I can’t fit it in mine 😅
