Would’ve been better if they added a way to zoom in when you rotate the screen. There’s no reason to play in tate if doing so makes the screen even smaller.

Bought this on a whim because i kept seeing people talking about it and god damn, this is a fun game.

Thanks for the great review video man. This is my number one shmup on switch as of Dec 2024. I'm fairly new to shmups and I've noticed that there are a few categories for the genre. Cute em' ups, bullet hells, side scroller, horizontal, if im missing any let me know. But I'd def consider this a horizontal bullet hell. I lean more towards cute em ups l though. But this was a phenomenal game. I've also noticed that Xbox 360 probably has the best shmups of all time. Japanese exclusive titles.

Is the switch version the same as on other consoles like the xbox series x? Or are there differences??

The landing/takeoff sequence gives you a breather between stages. Maybe not a big deal when you have infinite credits but in the arcades when one of your hard earned quarters was on the line and you had an audience judging you it was more important.

Was planning on buying this on switch before tomorrow when it's delisted but I think this one just looks too complex for me and also I've got a few cave games now and I am unable to get good enough to get past level 3 of mushihimesama on 1 credit after hours and hours so I think I need to admit that these games are just too hard for me!!

Man, I was really hoping they would have included the terrible English voice acting. That was part of the charm. Super dissapointing.

How do you get the true ending? After I finish 1 - 5 it goes back to stage 1-1 again.

Never personally care about scoring systems, they have their place for a certain kind of elite player, but give me a game like this and I just wanna win, not flex on some dumb score system.

Got the steam version cause I liked like dreamer and it was $8. So glad I got it.

Unfortunately this game has been delisted on the Switch store due to a license issue. The same version is on Steam although it lacks the 1.5 mode which must be purchased separately as DLC.

they also have gimmick style attacks and and having touhou patterns mixed in with the cave patterns

Well i actually went ahead and brought this game and in all honesty im glad i did it is pretty awkward but in a fun way

Just sell your Switch, get a CoreGrafx, a Kyukyoky Tiger HuCard, a 21 inch stereo Sony Trinitron, and you'll still have money left for Final Soldier, Galaga 88 and a sixpack of Leffe Blond.... Playing this on a huge OLED with a Switch is lame.

Can you list a few awesome shmups that are exclusive to Switch? PS, I don't really like bullet hell. Those games are ugly to me.

I came at this completely backwards because I'm a fan of Cybattler and Blanche was how I found out about Psyvariar but holy shit this game rules. The game itself is incredible and then for a one little dlc purchase you unlock Cybattler 2 I'm in awe

When the player returns to the moon base at the end credits, the date is shown to be 2048. The action in Daifukkatsu begins in 2008 which means that the player only goes 40 years into the past and not 1000 years into the past like you mentioned in this review.

Wish this included robo aleste and musha but sweet collection of games.

My local gaming group and I were super hyped about Ikaruga coming out for Gamecube not because it was great looking or the first shmup to get mainstream recognition, oh no. We were hyped about it because it was the first and only time, at the time, where Treasure broke their seeming policy of having no sequels. But yeah, if I had a choice of getting Project RS-3 or Sin and Punishment 3, I wouldn't even hesitate - Sin & Punishment 3 is what I would want.

Late comment but I really disagree with the negative comments on Deathsmiles II. I think the gameplay is great and the bosses in particular are amazing, and while I love the spritework of the first one I don't think 2 looks bad at all.

I just 1cc Novice so proud lol. Normal is still waaay too hard though. I am almost done with my 1cc Novice for Do Don Pachi too, but that one is waaay harder to me. Anyway great review i give it a like!
