    i love terrarin's games, he's absolutely one of the best indie shmup devs going rn imo. he's always improving and expanding on his past work, and it's so good to have someone so dedicated to the more classic style rather than bullet hell.

    Great review! I played this a bit on Steam when it released because I didn't want to wait for the Switch release, though I didn't fire it up since Terarin made a big update to v2.0
    I'm never disappointed with the Terarin games - they scratch that 90s shmup itch wonderfully, and are always very tightly designed and super enjoyable. I'll probably end up buying this again anyway 🙂
    Now I'm really looking forward to Star Gagant!

      I wouldn't skip Gemini Arms; it's an interesting twin stick / hori hybrid that's quite challenging; it goes on sale from time to time. The graphics are more basic than Terarin's later games, but the gameplay is still enjoyable.

    I love Terarin's games on Switch. I have all of them and even have Image Striker on my phone, but this one's a little pricey, so I'll hold off for a sale.

    It's not only inspired by thunder force, but also by gradius in level and enemy design, and it has a speed stage that's similar to air buster.

    swear uou heard before? the trailer soundtrack on steam is an out right thunder force rip-off. 😂😂don't get me wrong I love this game but its clearly a thunder force homage to its very bones. i really wish sega put thunder force on steam. my switch is nice but its not compatible with my stick.

    I hate how power up and chain bonus and other notifications appear on the center of the screen. They already did point accumulation properly by having points you accumulate update in real time on the top left of the screen. Why not cram all notifications there instead of obscuring the player's visibility?

    I've been supporting Terarin games since the mobile days, But I think this is his first release I'm going to buy on sale. It just looks far too bland, and the power up loss thing seems like a misstep. Raging Blasters for me is his finest moment. Moon Dancer is just o.k, but not great in my opinion. Star Gagnant looks good, but is expensive. Unless it gets rave reviews I'm not dropping £30 on a digital shooter.

      @@dingusuhum have none of their previous games released physically? Shmups (physical) on switch is easy money. Just look at all the limited distribution publishers like: limited run, strictly limited, red art, vgny, etc., etc. Limited Runs best selling games are consistently shmups. Not saying you're wrong, I'm just pointing out that it is usually lucrative for these small shmup devs to take a $20 digital game, which don't usually sell well on the eshop, to a physical that is printed based on presell data, and sell very well. Theres no wasted inventory (this is a huge reason why small devs work with the limited production companies so often) and, once again, is their highest selling genre of games consistently. With AAA games becoming more and more broken junk at launch, and with the audacity to charge $10 more for a lesser experience, gamers are looking to invest in physical games that can't be taken away at the whim of a greedy publisher.
      I literally just received my LR copy of Espgaluda 2 today (I swear. Weird coincidence, lol). I have multiple ways to play it, including the digital switch version, but it's nice to know that I will always have this physical copy available to play.
      Anyway, once again, I'm not saying you're wrong, I guess I'm just saying, if they don't produce a physical, they're absolutely leaving money on the table. I promise a small print run would sell out very quickly.

    • @streetmagik3105
      @streetmagik3105 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@dingusuhum I did just look up the devs previous games because it wasn't ringing a bell. I guess I haven't played their previous games, and I'm pretty sure they've never done much more than Steam and a couple switch digital. I'd bet you're completely right that a physical isn't going to happen, which is sad. They need some better management. Wasted money is absolutely sitting on the table.

    • @dingusuhum
      @dingusuhum ปีที่แล้ว

      it's literally just one dude making these games man

    • @streetmagik3105
      @streetmagik3105 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@dingusuhum that's not unusual and has nothing to do with publishing rights allowing limited run, or whoever, to produce the physical. This single dev wouldn't be producing the cartridges himself obviously. They literally just sign and wait for the probability to accrue a new cashflow. Sure, this person would lose a small percentage of overall sales, but everything is basically free money that can go towards future projects, and based on previous sales, future contracts could be even more lucrative. It would not only create more incoming revenue, it could create an opportunity to maybe hire additional help to make future games even better.
      There are a ton of dev studios that are between 1 and 5 employees, and a number of those that make deals for physical distribution with these smaller publishers. This being a single person doesn't change anything, and isn't new. There are a ton of indie games with physical releases that are made by super small, even single, develooers.

    good but not very good. the game seems to me like a sort of fangame by an editor/maker tool stuff. thunderforce IV remains untouchable, is pure golden game design and real pixel art
