You mentioned not being able to skip dialogue in cutscenes - but you can skip cutscenes by holding shot+bomb. You don't have to mash through each line of dialogue. I haven't tried skipping the credits, because they're interactive so I just think of them as part of the game. Does the + button not bring up the main menu there? That's weird. Anyway, I've really been enjoying the game. I thought it had the right amount of depth for the price. It also has one of the best soundtracks I've heard lately.
Always here for a new SoS video. Surprised to see how this game has been universally received with surprise and appreciation by the community. I have not picked it up yet, but I certainly will.
I made one! Quite a long time ago, but a lot of the games are still only on Steam and, are mostly still the ones I consider the best available on the platform: th-cam.com/video/h_fRgjpqFDY/w-d-xo.html
I've only really dabbled in some shmups available on the NSO app, so would this be a good game for people relatively new to the genre? Thanks for the review.
Not a bad one to start with. I'd also recommend Sophstar. Most modern shmups are a lot more accessible these days, with training and/or novice options.
@@ShmupsOnSwitch Thanks for the reply. I wishlisted Sophstar. ^^ Hazelnut Hex is quite cheap on the European eShop right now, so I might take the plunge.

Oh, really, that's good to know. I'll try it next time I play.

Thanks I was thinking about getting this game but no one reviewed it.
nice review pal. I agree, great game and i enjoy it alot but lacks the content, no unlocks, modes etc. Would like to see a No.2 with more too it.
Can you make a Shmups on Steam section/channel/episode?

No online leader boards... why?!

Looks like a game targeted towards 6 year old girls.
Yeah, when I first saw the trailer, I didn't think it was going to be up to much. Happy to have been wrong though!
You say that like it's a bad thing.
