@@whereisgregnow5989 +15 years in Thailand working and living and RENTING condos and never heard of that.. but u probably know better..a contract is a contract..u do know that u write a rent contract..right?

so when you write a rental contract what is the length of time for you on average? 15 years is a long time and you obviously have a lot of knowledge in this area. A long rental contract is usually best for the owner also as they can depend on that income I think.

@@whereisgregnow5989 3- 6 months or 1 year is the normal and yes 1 year is cheapest with a FIXED monthy rent + government regulated electricity and water prices. Moving around in Bangkok is prefect..because every part of the mega city is different. If something breaks like fridge stove water aircon electric etc its most time owner fix that in the contract

often is the only thing u have to buy pillows and bedding gear and towels and somekitchen/ household items in some cases and thats dirt cheap

@@whereisgregnow5989 If you are going to invest stay away from these small new condos, there are way too many of them and they cater to the wrong group of people. Better to buy a large unit in an older building in Bkk and rent it out.

@@whereisgregnow5989 That’s really my point. Like most of these foreign TH-camrs that have raided Thailand and the rest of SE Asia you guys are just showing things without providing the full details. Are the flats you presented in the foreign quota? Just showing condos provides people a very skewed perspective of what is really available and the pricing. You are not the only one. Plenty of you guys running around here now spreading misinformation on visa’s and condos. Just want the public to fully understand what they are dealing with on TH-cam and not be surprised, when they come on a pack of lies from TH-camrs, and things are much different.

I'm not promoting anything. If someone is really interested they should probably contact their agent. I do these videos for informational purposes only. If I was to give out visa info it would be coming from an expert and not myself. I appreciate your comment.

@@whereisgregnow5989 so you don’t know if the condo you where promoting is priced in the Foreign Quota or Thai Quota. It does make big difference.

on thailand u dont spend as much time inside as in west so u dont need that excess space..and cooling a BIG house or condo is pretty expensive.. have friends that spend +1500 usd only on electricity on their houses in Thailand.. I spend about 40usd in my 1 bedroom condo i rent for 280 usd here in bangkok and spend most time on the rooftop lounge/pool or in the condo gym or outside when in free from the office working and eat out about 7 days a week.. different country different life

I agree with you 100 percent. Rooftop pool, gym, 280 USD per month and I am happy

@@whereisgregnow5989 i never understand that american obsession to have BIG homes with many rooms and alot of indoor space if u dont really need it as a big family. i like it smaller cozy and pretty minimalistic free from all that clutter and unnecessary things in life.

I visited the Amazon residence and it was very nice. It's been a while since I went to the complex. I can tell you that if you are looking for a long term rental at a lower price you should visit the complex and talk with an agent or owner. I don't usually see long term contracts on Agoda. I may be wrong. Thanks for the comment

@@whereisgregnow5989 One of the reviews also stated that the maintenance problems they encountered couldn't be addressed immediately, as there was never anybody to speak to, only a Thai telephone number and their English wasn't too good. This isn't my experience, as I've never stayed there. Appreciate your work man.

Hi Chris, It depends on which visa you get. Also if you do it yourself or have an agency do it for you.

It's not my dream retirement either. But for those folks in the west living in a basement or under a bridge because they can't afford anything , perhaps it gives them an alternative? The alternatives may be a better way of life for them. If a person had saved properly and invested over the years ,they probably would not be looking to relocate to begin with. What are your thoughts Zen?

@whereisgregnow5989 Pretty much agree with you. I feel I'm in a good position, and luck plays a big part. Lots of people aren't in a great place financially thru no fault of their own. It's all relative, I guess. The prospect of retirement in Thailand is a double-edge sword that fills me with excitement and anxiety. The idea of remaining in the West induces mostly dread.

My thoughts exactly. It's not so much regarding how much you earn but how much can you save every month. If you cant save it leaves you in a bad spot. I appreciate your comment.

Prescriptions are more readily available ,but you do need prescriptions for certain medications.

I'm definitely not a financial advisor but check with an attorney regarding a living trust and will. Your question is a great one and I wish I had the answer. I do know that Thailand has a great medical system and is ranked much higher than the US according to the World Health Organization. My personal opinion is enjoy life to the fullest while you can. If you want to leave your country to travel then go go go.

Sorry for the late response, Thailand has more food choices than probably any place in the world. However if you get away from the main tourist areas you really need to learn some Thai. It can be extremely hard to communicate once you are out of the tourist areas. In the Philippines English is taught in schools. it's very easy to communicate. The people are extremely friendly and giving. The Philippines has incredible malls and restaurants in the major cities. In Thailand the health care system is ranked very high. For myself I also find this choice a little difficult. But one think I can say for sure is. If you choose Thailand or the Philippines, Your quality of life will probably improve a lot.
