Take it as soon as you can. Good advice.
Taking SS by itself at 62 is not enough to survive on. Only take SS at 62 if you have a decent 4O1k and/or a nice pension.
Thanks for the comment
I retired at 59, after retiring I realized I should have retired at 50 :) The US media tries to scare you about not having enough money
Yes I agree, Some of these financial experts recommend you work to 70. Life is too short.
They could have solved the problem if they would have left our money alone instead of using it like tax monies.
I agree 100 percent. Thanks so much for the comment
Well, if you take it early and then lose
25% because they will decrease
Payments then waiting longer will still be a good idea unless you absolutely need it to
Live. Also they have been saying this
About SS for
Over 25yrs as a fear factor.. And they keep changing the dates like they keep
Printing money. People will starve if they cut it by 25% and they won’t do that. My bet is they will increase the age limit before reducing payment
Thanks so much for the comment. Yes I think they will possibly just keep increasing the age limit
If high income earners only pay up to the ss wage base, and lower income earners pay on all of their income, then i think getting ss income after retirement should be baed on means. Beyond a certain means, you dont really need ss income. If one has $5M in their bank account at retirement, they dont need ss income. We all pay taxes, some of which goes to things we personally don't need. It could be the same for ss IMO.
That's a Great comment. I wonder if that idea would be enough to prevent the shortage in the social security system?
In my country 🇬🇧 UK, they are already increasing the retirement age, it’s now around 67 I believe. I was lucky I just the right age to retire when I was 65. It was worse for women, they changed the age to retire from 60 to 65 in one go, to keep it the same as men. The U.K. government is possibly going to continue to increase the age of retirement to maybe 70 in the near future!
I guess this is pretty much a worldwide problem. I appreciate the comment.
No it’s only 66 years old men and women the same in the uk 🇬🇧
And that’s not old . My dad and grandpa worked till in there late 70s building houses.. you live years after it’s not even old in your 60s 😂
I’m 50 I just started an apprenticeship 😂 i hope I can work for myself for as long as possible I don’t want to sit indoors getting fat watching tv thanks that’s all British pensioners do here in the uk . Lazy nation
I really agree with you, I have quite a few coworkers who are working well into their 70s and they really love what they do.
I was forced into early retirement at 59 and it was the best decision I didn't make. At 52, I was already married to a Filipina and making plans to retire to the Philippines at 62. Planning is the key to early retirement. My vote is retire as soon as YOU can. 67 and retired in Cebu City since 2020, now on a 13A visa.
Congratulations on the early retirement. Cebu is a great place and yes budgeting and planning are so essential. Thanks for the comment
You say that you were "forced." to retire at 59 Does that mean you decided not to pursue other employment?
@@ericlee2931I guess you could call it like that. I was "forced" out and not too many companies were hiring in 2017 in our small town. Collected unemployment for 6 months. Then took out savings to bridge the gap to 62. Sold everything I had by then, house, everything and moved to the Philippines. Too late in life to start at the bottom at another company even if I could find employment.
Where exactly is that beach?
That was at White Beach in Boracay. Thanks for watching
Lots of hotties on patrol there
