Living in the Philippines for the past two years. One of the Expat attributes that gives one the greatest chance of success is, a steady income stream that doesn’t require employment. The TH-camr and Remote IT thing will eventually come to a technological end…then what, if you don’t have a pension? Just some advice based upon my experiences. I’d recommend that you do not attempt to do this on less than $2500.00 a month USD.

I really agree with you. You need to have a steady income as there is no security blanket. Thanks for the comment

I've often thought the same things. Life is short and sometimes it takes a medical issue, as a wake up call, to make you rethink things. Having said that, however, it is also medical issues that force people to return to their origins to get the professional care they require. This is the number one reason why a lot of expats return home (US, Canada) so that they can get the medical care they can't get abroad. My wife and I thought it might me a good idea to retire in Aruba. We looked into the real estate market there and all that, but cost is too expensive unless you're a millionaire, which we're not. We've not been to Thailand and that is a possible vacation destination yet to happen. We might rethink things after having been there, but for now, we've resolved ourselves to keep our roots here in Canada and simply take the odd vacation wherever and whenever. We'll keep our options open. Looking forward to seeing where you go with this adventure of yours.

Thanks for the positive comment. Thailand has many great hospitals. If you ever have the time you can go to the WHO and look at the rankings of countries for medical care. It's kind of an eye opener.
