Iron Maiden Studio Albums Ranked. Updated For 2024
There are so many post 2000 Thrash albums that are fantastic. Totally agree with your list. The German "Big 4" produced some real classics as well. Some of those "new" bands had killer albums. Warbringer´s debut, Fueld By Fire´s second record... the list could go on forever. Thrash Metal did a better job than the more modern Death Metal scene imo! Death Angel´s comeback album is my fave, a bit controversial but that´s just my opinion.
I'm sorry, but I couldn't stop at 10! I need to revisit that Sadus album though. 1. Testament - The Formation Of Damnation 2. Exodus - Exhibit B: The Human Condition 3. Heathen - Empire Of The Blind 4. Atrophy - Asylum 5. Xentrix - Bury The Pain 6. Sodom - Genesis XIX 7. Kreator - Enemy Of God 8. Morbid Saint - Swallowed By Hell 9. Exumer - Fire & Damnation 10. Destruction - Diabolical 11. Overkill - The Wings Of War 12. Protector - Summon The Hordes 13. Onslaught - VI (I need to revisit the newest one) 14. Flotsam & Jetsam - The End Of Chaos 15. Death Angel - The Dream Calls For Blood You picked the Havok and Evile albums I was going to list, but here are some others I'd like to show some love to: Reign Of Fury - World Detonation Hellbringer - Dominion Of Darkness Harlott - Extinction Condition Critical - Operational Hazard Cheers!
Im not a huge fan of Metallica but i really liked death magnetic, and i don't think they have released anything as good since.
It all hinges on production for me and unfortunately I don't get to know these new albums because a lot of the recordings hurt my ears 😔 Although I think between 83 and 91 when thrash was popular and they sound good production wise I've got a lifetimes worth to keep me going. I'm still filling in gaps from those years! Plus I would say probably only Vektor comes to mind as someone who have pushed the genre forward any.
Warbringer deserve a mention if were talking modern thrash. Ive only got two of their albums War Without End and Worlds Torn Asunder but their both really good.
@TMINE100 I've known about them for ages but not got round to checking them out. I'll have to change that soon. Cheers for watching and commenting
@mrboulder9714 Of the two Worlds Torn Asunder is the one to check out, great vocals and songwriting.
@TMINE100 Thanks for the recommendation fella 👍
@@mrboulder9714don't forget to check out riffobia aswell when u get time.
Nice UKJ top 🤘
@Dogtown16v cheers man
First off thanks for this James mate. I've at last now found you on Instagram. And I've seen you a friends request. My profile as south of heaven as my back cover and should you scroll down you will see what music I'm into mate. Anything that takes your fancy give it a listen. So pleased that you shown Havok and bonded by blood both bands are amazing to me. One band that missed is Warbringer with Woe to the vanquished or there latest album weapons of tomorrow. Both killers album for me. So just to end I hope you'll except my friends request as not it would nice to chat with you James. But also with any help that you can give me.
Cheers Darren. Friend request accepted mate. Cheers for all your support, it's much appreciated 👏
Sadus is a fine return to form - Xentrix too. Acid Reign did a great comeback album as well - not many bands can pull it off after being away for so long. I have most of the ones you have shown, but I would like to add Exodus 'Tempo of the damned' and Sacrifice 'The ones I condemn'. Overall a good video there mate !!
That Sadus is a beast. Great album from Xentrix too. I'm gonna do a part2 at some point and The Age of Entitlement will definitely be in it. Cheers Lee as always mate 👍
Testament are one of my favourite bands but Formation is their only album I don't really like. More Than Meets the Eye is excellent and then it dies away for me. I keep trying to get into it but it isn't happening. Another good video James a few albums to check out definitely.
Testament have one of the most solid discographies out there. The only album I'm not too keen on myself is Demonic. Cheers Paul
Seeing sadus support obituary on Wednesday. Are you there boulder mate? Never a big fan of them but will check it out dude. Need to get onboard with the newer thrash stuff I kinda gave it a swerve don’t know why? Ugh warbringer I Love 🤘🏻have that havok album it’s superb the vocalist is a ringer for tom araya in the vid for covering fire
Not there Wednesday mate as I have a gig in Cambridge the following night. What a line up that is though. Have a good one mate 👍
@ cheers boulder mate take care buddy 🤘🏻have a good gig mate!
The ones I remember: "M-16" Sodom (2001) "Endgame" Megadeth (2009) "The Formation of Damnation" Testament (2008) "World Painted Blood" Slayer (2009) "Antichrist" Destruction (2001) "Hordes of Chaos" Kreator (2005) "Violent Revolution" Kreator (2001) "Christ Illusion" Slayer (2006) "When Death Comes" Artillery (2009) "United Abominations" Megadeth (2007)
Some excellent picks here. Thanks for watching and commenting. Cheers
Awesome list of modern day thrash metal albums, James!
@@tainted_lord87 Cheers Tony
Fantastic picks, can get along with all those albums! Here's 10 more - Exodus - Tempo Of The Damned Vektor - Black Future Suicidal Angels - Bloodbath Kreator - Phantom Antichrist Algebra - Polymorph Death Angel - The Dream Calls For Blood Mekong Delta - In A Mirror Darkly Paranorm - The Edge Of Existence Angelus Apatrida - Hidden Evolution Traitor - Kneed-Deep In The Dead
@petegreenfield3645 Cheers Pete. I'm planning on doing a Part 2 at some point and some of the bands you listed will,be appearing. Cheers
Good list. Glad to see Bonded by Blood getting some love.
Agreed fella. A massively overlooked band. Cheers
i got a first pressing of the Ritual on vinyl and its in excellent condition. I should give it another listen by the sounds of it
I've never seen a vinyl copy of The Ritual, so hard to come by. Thanks for watching and commenting
Seventh son is my number 1 - its never been bested.
That is an amazing album. Thanks for watching and commenting
Absolutely, Badlands is one of my top 5 AC/DC tracks and the album as a whole is solid!
Yeah Badlands is amazing. An underrated AC/DC song. Thanks for watching and commenting
Kreator are one of those bands that I was aware off but never dabbled in. After watching this might have to give them a go.
Definitely a band worth checking out Glen. Cheers mate
I’ll never understand why people love Powerslave so much! Everything between 2 Minutes and Powerslave is so forgettable for me. I can’t stand Dance Of Death, except the title track and Paschendale. But man what a list! Didn’t see any of them coming!
I love stuff like Flash Of The Blade and Back In The Village, great tunes. Dance of Death is one of my favourite latter day Maiden albums definitely. Thanks for watching and commenting
I think it was a bit unprofessional of iron maiden to pick blaze as a singer, I get they may have been looking to go into a new direction but probably should have had someone with a broader range His voice is too deep and doesn't have the vocal range to sing the Dickinson songs live and they didn't down tune either to help him
I don't think picking Blaze was a mistake. They definitely should have tuned down to E flat though as it would have suited his voice better. Thanks for watching
@@mrboulder9714 I wonder if they had have down tuned their guitars to help him if they would have stayed longer with blaze
The X factor suffers from being too long I prefer virtual XI
Virtual XI definitely gets to the point more

Yes mate, you know I love that Sodom album - soooo good, their heaviest ! I love Sodom in general, my fav German thrash band. I got the box set of MI6 - great package. Big fan of Cannibal - got all on cd and the first 5 on vinyl. Love Hypocrisy - loved em since day one, got em all on cd and I have been picking the vinyl reissues out as they have been released - 2 more coming out next month ! I have been tempted with that Powerslave, but I have it on cd and vinyl already but it does look nice. Carcass are one of my fav bands but those reissue cassette box sets are just really boring and piss poor packaging - don't get value for your money which is very disappointing
Really pleased with the Sodom reissue mate, they've done a great job. Definitely need to check out more Hypocrisy. Piss poor from Earache, how hard is it to put the correct band photo on the J card!! Cheers Lee
Powerslave - classic, Back in the Village is an under rated track, excellent stuff. Necroticism - nice, had it on cd for years and just got the vinyl. Up there with Heartwork for my favourite of Carcass. Have you tried Pain? Peter Tagtgren's other band along with Hypocrisy. Industrial sound and really good, pretty catchy. Try Cynic Paradise.
Powerslave and Necrotocism are both absolute classics Paul. Not familiar with Pain, I'll check it out. Cheers mate
Great update, Mr B. I reckon I'm the only Maiden fan who dislikes the new Powerslave vinyl 😂 No doubt I'll still grab it though. Nice to see Earache excelling in their releases 😂
Loving that Powerslave reissue mate. Yep, the usual top notch product from Earache. Bloody useless 😂 Cheers mate
Classic band " The Who ", and that Carcass album " Heartwork " is definately a " Beast ". I would probably class that Cannibal Corpse coloured vinyl as " Beer ' coloured myself. And Sodom M16 'Agent Orange " coloured!. I'm interested to know how that " Powerslave " sounds as Maiden re-issues on vinyl sound patchy I.M.O Cool pick ups mate.
The Powerslave reissue sounds good mate. Heartwork is a superb album and The Who have so many classic songs in their discography. Cheers Keith
Just back from testament , kreator and Anthrax. Possibly the best concert I have been to. All three set lists, sounds and crowd atmosphere was amazing (Dublin)
@Dm-ui1fi Yeah, I went to the same gig in London on Saturday. Epic stuff
Excellent video again me ode, The Sodom remaster & remix are excellent. (I have the M-16 box set). I've just watched an interview with Tom Angelripper (Jorge Botas) and he said that BMG have aquired the whole of the Sodom SPV back catalogue. The Sodom deluxe set is ok but it should have been in a box set, hopefully Noise will release the BMG stuff in future and we all know how awesome their box sets are. take care me ode
Really enjoyed that new Tapping The Vein reissue. Looking forward to their other stuff being reissued too. Cheers Neil as always mate
Excellent update video James as always. Nice seeing some Sodom here, they are extremely hard to come by. I've never seen a Sodom cd here in The Netherlands, let alone vinyl. "Tapping the Vein" is a brutal record, One step over the line I do like on that one. "M-16" on the other hand is one of my favorite Sodom records, absolutely superb. Hope they'll continue these Sodom reissues. Check out their ninth studio record from 1999: Code Red. That one blew me away first time listening. Cheers as always buddy 🤘
I've never heard Code Red so I'm looking forward to checking it out. Cheers as always Kenan 👍
Tapping was the Last sodom lp I bought and loved in the day . Bought the next one and binned it lol😂.. I should try some newer ones and m16 is the one I will try I think ..
I highly recommend the most recent album from Sodom. That is excellent. Cheers
@mrboulder9714 a lot of the bands who messed up in the 90s (imo) I haven't returned to . I know their new stuff is good in many cases but I still feel tetchy . I need to let it go 😂 .. Added m16 to my list
Cool pickups James! Some great stuff like Sodom, Cannibal Corpse and Iron Maiden. That's so funny about the Carcass boxset, how can they get that so wrong!? Could be worse, what if Megadeth did one of these and they used a Metallica picture! 😂😂🤘🏻
Earache shouldn't be making those kind of school boy errors in this day and age Josh. Cheers mate
@mrboulder9714 Oh definitely! You expect so much better than that! It's not like they're a well established record label now or anything! You're welcome mate 😁🤘🏻
Like you I’m pumped to get Tapping The Vein, hope there is more Sodom reissues planned. That sucks that your Evisceration Plague didn’t show up, hope you track down a copy. Great update James 🤘
fancy seeing you here me ode LOL. I've been listening to a few Tom Angelripper interviews recently and 2 things i got from them are, 1- BMG have aquired the entire SPV back catalogue & He's hoping the NEW Sodom album will be out next March. take care
Fingers crossed I can pick up another copy of Evisceration Plague at some point. Looking forward to more Sodom reissues. Cheers Darcy
Love a good update..🤘 thanks Mr Boulder
Cheers Dave as always 👍
Nice update. I have Tapping the Vein on original CD ( Not as exciting as an OG vinyl) And great Maiden announcement set top notch album!
Loving that Powerslave anniversary edition George. It's definitely a reissue done the right way. Cheers
I might pick up that Sodom album. I have M-16, decent album. Torture is an absolute beast. That Hypocrisy is great, they.got worse as they went on. Only the first two are Death Metal really. Typical Earache, too busy releasing shite like skindred and Massive Wahons snd other dad rock pish and then drop a bollock with that Napalm Death pic. Considering how much they reissue both bands you'd think they'd know what they. Look like. Great stuff as usual James!!
No way should Earache be dropping a bollock that badly in this day and age, not good enough mate. That Tapping The Vein reissue is certainly worth grabbing Dave. Cheers mate
@mrboulder9714 I still can't believe they gucking released it anyway!
@@thegrimmfluencer Clearly not enough care being taken mate
I've been thinking of getting the 3 disc reissue of Tapping the Vein as it's about £18 online you might have pushed me to pulling the trigger depending on what price it's at now 😅 Nice M16 reissue and CC always deliver. Hypocrisy have at least a couple of stinkers, Catch 22 and the self titled. My favourites are probably the first couple, The Fourth Dimension and I remember liking Virus quite a bit but yeah they have a pretty good discography overall. What a bulls up by earache I agree no excuses for that. Good stuff mate 🍻🤘🏻
That Tapping The Vein reissue is really decent Simon. Yeah, it's inexcusable of Earache ti screw up that badly. How hard can it be after all! Cheers for watching mate
Heartwork is a BELTER. Like you say - title track a blinder, Arbeit Macht Fleisch is disgracefully good - along with every other bloody track on it!
An absolutely killer record from start to finish Matt. Cheers as always mate
Napalm Death on a Carcass cassette?! I reckon carcass switched the photos without the record company knowing, because like you say, it’s an aural mess and they probably wanted to distance themselves from it, so they thought, “I know! Let’s blame it on napalm death?!” 😂
Haha. Maybe that was the case Matt. Cheers fella 👍
Hahaha, that Carcass cassette is hilarious!
@mercyfulmetal7324 What a stupid mistake that was to make. Cheers Thomas
No Prayer For The Dying is superb, absolutely love the song “The Assassin”,surprised you don’t like it. For me “The Number Of The Beast” is Iron Maiden’s greatest album
No Prayer For The Dying is an underrated album. I don't dislike The Assassin, I just think there are better songs on that album. Cheers for watching
Great update mate. I recently ordered Sodom Tapping on vinyl so hopefully it arrives soon, had it on cd for a few years so definitely looking forward to the vinyl version 🤘🤘
They've done a great job on this reissue mate. Hopefully yours will arrive soon
Some cool pick-ups there :) All the CSI songs are on that The Who comp :) The first couple of Hypocrisy albums are pretty good. I haven't heard the ones they put out after they changed their logo. Wow... that Earache blunder is so ridiculous that I wonder if they did it on purpose. I wonder whythey didn't include 'Swansong' in that boxset.
That Earache screw up is inexcusable in this day and age. Definitely going to be doing a more deep dive into the Hypocrisy discography. Cheers mate
I adore abducted it's their best by miles imo
Nice Who , The Canibal corspe looks very heavy aggressive, I heard of Hypocrisy , nice Iron Maiden- Powerslave , never heard of Sodom , Penatrila , do you have Powerslave on multiple formats say cd and Cassette as well as vinyl? carcass , simple sickness , do you have any of these 5 star albums on cassette kiss- from 1974 to 1979 less than 5 from 3.5 stars to 2.5 kiss from 1981 up until the end? Black Sabbath 5 stars the Ozzy ERA? Dio the 2 albums the rest which is probably along the lines of 3.5 stars Def Leppard 5 stars the first 4 albums less than 5 from 1992 up until the self titled say 3.5 to 2.5 stars ? Ac/dc 5 stars from the begining up to Flick of the switch 5 star albums? from 1985 up to power up from 2.5 stars up to 3.5? Iron Maiden 5 stars from the debut up to 7th son? 3.5 stars up to 2.5 stars from No Prayer to sinjusti? Ozzy 5 stars Blizzard , Diary , Tribute , No Rest for the Wicked , 4 stars Bark at the moon , 3.85 stars Ultimate sin from 1992 or so 3.5 stars to 2.5 stars last album? Judas Priest Rocka Rolla 5 stars up to Turbo , 3.85 stars Ram it down 3.90 stars of Painkillers? from 1992 or so up till the last album 3.50 to 2.50?
I have Powerslave on all 3 formats. Cheers Mark

Hi James!!! Nice to your latest video update and those new stuff you picked up...... cool to see those two great Sodom reissues really well done, but then Earache showing how quality control is not supposed to be, come on guys it's not that hard!!! I think i have some mixed feelings about the latest 40th anniversary of Powerslve, it0s cool but the kind i wanted from a very important album. cheers and be well
Earache definitely shouldn't be making those silly mistakes in this day and age. Those Sodom reissues are excellent. Cheers Cristian
Can’t go wrong with those Sodom albums and Powerslave album. Nice boxset of Carcass. Cheers mate.
Really pleased with all these new pick ups. Cheers mate as always 👍
That’s awful quality control from Earache Records… a bit like their current roster to be fair, lol. I must pick up that new ‘Powerslave’ reissue… it looks fabulous doesn’t it. Good to see you sir🤘🏻
School boy error from Earache mate, absolutely ridiculous. That Powerslave reissue is great isn't it. Cheers Marc as always mate 👍
I bought every Sodom release on vinyl when it came out but I never owned "Tapping..." for some reason. Good to see it reissued. Iron Who?- Power What? Never heard of that, hahaha... Nice Carcass boxset, that proves what happens if you let the trainee work on it, hehe...
Really pleased with that Sodom reissue Jurgen. You should check out Iron Maiden mate, I,think you might like them 😉 Stupid mistake by Earache, just not good enough really. Cheers mate
