Great video again James..Clansman is a banger…not my favorite era of maiden but there was plenty of good songs ..enjoy the Blaze stuff too Good Stuff Mate
Hey James! As a die hard maiden fan I have absolutely no problem with maidens 90s era. Even though the fear of the dark album I have at the bottom, there’s still some good stuff on there … but still a lot of skippable stuff 😂 If I had to choose a top 5 without thinking too much about it… 1. The clansman 2. Sign of the Cross 3. Tailgunner 4. Afraid to shoot strangers 5. Fortunes of War .. I just love that song haha Great video mate!
What you say about The Angel and the Gambler I agree 100% with! Spot on!🤘 My Top 5 are: 5. Sign of the Cross 4. Hooks in You 3. Afraid to Shoot Strangers 2. The Clansman 1. Be Quick or Be Dead
Interesting video! For some reason, I thought Part 2 was going to be everything from 1990 onwards. I guess that's because I'd struggle to find anything like enough songs I even like from this era! 😂 Other than the debut, Maiden without Adrian Smith just doesn't really do it for me. My faves from the '90s would be: The Clansman Fear Of The Dark Be Quick Or Be Dead Sign Of The Cross Bring Your Daughter To The Slaughter That's anout it, for me! Maybe I need to revisit these albums... Fair play to you for listening to all 4 of these albums enough to rank the songs, though. That's real dedication! I shall look forward to part 3. After giving 20 songs to '80-'88 and - especially - the '90s, it doesn't seem fair to only give the same amount to the following 26 years, though! 😜 Cheers! 🤘
Clansman is a great choice for no 1 never had an issue with either of the blaze albums I do like x factor more my first ever album on cd that was and strangely the angel and the gambler was the last thing I ever bought on vinyl had a 7" picture disc of that back in 98 cheers as always mate!
Great choices there James. There's some really excellent deep cuts from this era like afraid to shoot strangers, mother russia, blood on the world's hands. Angel & gambler is enjoyable for what it is, quite upbeat I think. That's a crazy price for that single, even if it is signed by the band. This was a tough choice for me actually getting some sort of order with my choices but roughly they are: 1 virus 2 blood on the worlds hands 3 the aftermath 4 sign of the cross 5 the clansman 6 the fugitive 7 judas be my guide 8 afraid to shoot strangers 9 be quick or be dead 10 futureal 11 fear of the dark 12 the educated fool 13 look for the truth 14 judgement of heaven 15 mother russia 16 tailgunner 17 como estais amigos 18 run silent run deep 19 man on the edge 20 chains of misery
As always, outstanding list dude! I can’t disagree with you really on this phase of the band’s career at all. I too would place Fear of the Dark towards the back end of the list - I agree with your sentiment exactly where that song is concerned - as brilliant as it is! Couple of tracks I’d have found room for are Public Enema Number 1 and No Prayer for the Dying. Both underrated in my opinion, but then again that is my feeling towards the No Prayer for the Dying album. I really love that record and I do not understand where all the hate for it comes from. If it’s because they went back to a basic sound after seventh son, then that argument doesn’t wash with me. It’s a lean album with some absolute bangers on it - hooks in you another and yes, I also agree with you on that one too! Really looking forward to Part 3!! 🙌🏼
No Prayer For The Dying is definitely an album that doesn't deserve it's bad reputation. I've always enjoyed it. And yes, Hooks In You is a banger. Cheers Matt as always fella 👍
Great picks james i agree with u about wasting love great song that doesn't get appreciated enough, i love it. Also great to see x factor getting some love.
I have never had any problems with the Angel and the Gambler either 😊 It was first after I heard it that I realized that it was kinda universally not liked by most fans 🤯
Nice picks. While 'Fear of the Dark' is far from my favorite Maiden album, I quite like a lot of the deep cuts like "Judas Be My Guide" and "Fear Is the Key". I have to admit that I don't like "The Angel and the Gambler", but I hope I'm forgiven :D "Man on the Edge" always reminded me a bit of Wolfsbane's "Black Lagoon". Love 'No Prayer for the Dying'. Look forward to the next one.
I have to be honest this was very tough not my favorite time period for Maiden and definitely not their best years. Having said that your list is great looking forward to part 3 20. The Angel and The Gambler 19. The Aftermath 18. 2 A.M 17. Fear of the Dark 16. Wasting Love 15. Hooks in You 14. When Two Worlds Collide 13. The Assassin 12. Blood on the World's Hand's 11. Man on the Edge 10. Fortunes of War 9. Public Enema Number 1 8. Fates Warning 7. Futureal 6. Afraid to Shoot Strangers 5. Judas Be My Guide 4. The Clansman 3. Good to hear some appreciation for No Prayer for the Dying. Probably the most underrated album from the Bruce era as far as I am concerned ;-) Personally I like it way more than Fear of the Dark and more than anything that came after reunion with Bruce. Tailgunner is a great tune. Mother Russia is also fantastic. From the Blaze era: definitely The X Factor (i like the dark atmosphere of this album). And my favourite tune from this album is majestic opener - The Sign of the Cross (pure awesomness).
No Prayer For The Dying is definitely an album that doesn't deserve it's weak reputation. Same with The X Factor, like you say, Sign Of The Cross is an absolute banger. Cheers
This is some good list with a couple surprises! First time hearing Maiden live was with Blaze so X Factor album has always resonated with me. First three tracks off X factor would make my Top 20 for sure. No Prayer is my favorite album front to back of this era. Tailgunner may take the top spot. Public Enema and The Assassin are not popular tracks that I really like that would be in my 20.
Wish i could have seen Maiden with Blaze live. No Prayer is a good album that gets unnecessarily shit on as far as I'm concerned. Thanks for watching and commenting

To this day, I can't understand why people hate this era of Maiden, Blaze did an fantastic job while he was in the band. Personally never had problems with his vocals. Blood On The Worlds Hands is an absolute banger and yes Sign Of The Cross is outstanding. Never had a problem with the Blaze era either. I think some fans just wanted Bruce. Blaze did a great job. Cheers as always Kenan 👍

I went back to Tame a Land after your last video. I don't listen to it that often. A lot better than I remember. I thought "what's he talking about? Putting that in his top 20". But you could be right. 🤔 😂😂
Totally agree with your top 2 being up there with songs from their heyday. Love when Bruce sings Blaze songs live. Hope we hear more Paul songs done on this next tour, I’m not sure which ones Bruce has never attempted live.
Yes, Sign Of Cross and The Clansman are just as good as anything from their 80's heyday. I got tickets for the tour next year, so yes it will be interesting to see what songs are in the set list. Cheers Darcy
Hi James!!! this was a tough era for Maiden imho...... first the shock of seeing Adrian leaving the band and then Bruce was gone. However the first live Maiden show i saw was in 96 with Blaze and it was a chaotic show. I totally agree with your N°1 maybe the last "perfect" epic song?? i also like very much "Run Silent, Run Sleep" and a couple of Blaze's songs like the fun tunes "Lords of the Flies" and "Man on the Edge"..... cheers and be well
My first new Maiden was "Somwhere in Time" but I wasn´t allowed to go to the concerts until 1990. My first gig was on the "No Prayer" tour and that´s probably why I have a softspot for the album. I´ve seen Maiden 12 times between 1990 and 1998, great memories were made during these years. My top three would be: 1. The Assassin (very unusual track for Maiden but very energetic and brooding at the same time) 2. Be quick or be dead (Maiden goes Speed Metal???) 3. Man on the Edge (great introduction for Blaze and such a fun song to play along on guitar) They wrote some killer tracks during that period!
Underrated era: 1. Judas Be My Guide 2. Fear of the Dark 3. The Educated Fool 4. Be Quick or be Dead 5. Judgement of Heaven 6. When Two Worlds Collide 7. Childhood's End 8. No Prayer For the Dying 9. The Apparition 10. Fates Warning 11. Angel and the Gambler 12. The Fugitive 13. Tailgunner 14. Public Enema No. One 15. Lord of the Flies 16. Blood on the World's Hands 17. The Aftermath 18. Holy Smoke 19. Afraid to Shoot Strangers 20. The Clansman
Good to see Hooks In You gets some love for a change, one of my favorites. No Prayer is such a good album, even though it is far from their best, it still is a great collection of music. I rank it as their 7th best album. None of the songs from the Blaze albums would make my top 20. Or top 20,000 for that matter.
Hooks In You gets so much hate and i just don't understand it. Be Quick Or Be Dead is a banger. As you can tell I really enjoy the Blaze era if Maiden. Thanks for watching fella 👍
@@mrboulder9714 I thought Fear was overrated the first time I heard it, but after a few more listens it really grew on me. It is my third favorite on the album after Quick and Shoot.
Good stuff James but not a period I like. Man on the Edge is ok as is Bring Your Daughter to the Slaughter - no. 1 in the charts of course! The only songs I really like are Fear of the Dark and my favourite Be Quick or Be Dead which excellent. Never got into Blaze and from the other albums the songs are just bland for me compared to the early albums.
Agree on "Bring Your Daughter..." & "Angel & the Gambler" not deserving of all the hate; "Wasted Love" is reminiscent of Def Leppard's "Bringing on the Heartbreak" (and a bit of Gillan's "Men of War" in the verses), good song, good album.
Yep, I've never understood the dislike for those 2 songs either. I Racer thought about that, I suppose Wasting Love is kinda similar to Bringing On The Heartbreak. Cheers for watching fella 👍
My top 5: The Clansman Sign of the Cross Afraid to Shoot Strangers Be Quick or be Dead Any thoughts on doing a Flotsam and Jetsam ranking since they just released a new one?
Excellent Top 5 here, especially The Clansman. I dont have a complete Flotsam and Jetsam discography, so it will be a while before I can do a Flots album ranking. Cheers fella 👍
Did you know that tail gunner is the follow up to Ace's high ? Which is only of my favourite tracks from no pray for the dying and another mother Russia. Fear of the dark. Other than the singles that released for me Weekend warrior. Just love that song. X factor album I would have to got with blood on the worlds hands. Virtual 11 really didn't do anything for me. But I do like the single Virus that they released.
@619dar By the lyrics alone, you can tell Tailgunner is a follow up to Aces High. Weekend Warrior nearly made the Top 20. Blood On The Worlds Hands is an underrated gem. Thanks for watching and commenting
The 90s are my least favourite decade for Maiden, as it is for most bands for me. Some songs are great though. My top 20 in no particular order: Sign of the Cross Man on the Edge Lord of the Flies The Clansman Tailgunner The Assassin Run Silent Run Deep Bring Your Daughter Holy Smoke Be Quick or be Dead Fear of the Dark Futureal Lightning Strikes Twice Blood on the Worlds Hands Afraid to Shoot Strangers Mother Russia Childhoods End Fates Warning To be honest, that’s about it. The rest I can take or leave and I’m struggling for 2 more off the top of my head
Not a fan of this ERA by any stretch of imigatation but curious which do you like better tracks from the classic years but towards the bottom Invaders , Infinite Dreams, Murder in the Rue Mourge or the better tracks from this ERA like Be quick or be dead , Bring your daughter to the slaughter, the clansman so which do you like better tracks from the 80's but further down the list or top 15 tracks like number 6, 14 and number 1?
Ughh! Can't stand those Blaze albums!I tossed them out of my Maiden collection! No Prayer for the Dying is my favorite album of the 90"s.Love it!Except Bring your Daughter to the Slaughter!!Uuunnh!Awful song!

My top 5:
The Clansman
Sign of the Cross
Afraid to Shoot Strangers
Be Quick or be Dead
Any thoughts on doing a Flotsam and Jetsam ranking since they just released a new one?
There was only one song on their first nine albums I did not like, that was Weekend Warrior.
Fear of the Dark and X Factor are the only two Iron Maiden albums I DON'T own.
Both these albums.have some excellent songs on them
The 90s are my least favourite decade for Maiden, as it is for most bands for me. Some songs are great though. My top 20 in no particular order:
Sign of the Cross
Man on the Edge
Lord of the Flies
The Clansman
Tailgunner
The Assassin
Run Silent Run Deep
Bring Your Daughter
Holy Smoke
Be Quick or be Dead
Fear of the Dark
Futureal
Lightning Strikes Twice
Blood on the Worlds Hands
Afraid to Shoot Strangers
Mother Russia
Childhoods End
Fates Warning
To be honest, that’s about it. The rest I can take or leave and I’m struggling for 2 more off the top of my head
That's a great list you put together. Thanks for watching
Not a fan of this ERA by any stretch of imigatation
but curious which do you like better tracks from the classic years but towards the bottom Invaders , Infinite Dreams, Murder in the Rue Mourge
or the better tracks from this ERA like Be quick or be dead , Bring your daughter to the slaughter, the clansman so which do you like better
tracks from the 80's but further down the list or top 15 tracks like number 6, 14 and number 1?
Plenty of decent stuff from this era for me, but definitely not as strong as their 80's heyday. Cheers Mark
Ughh! Can't stand those Blaze albums!I tossed them out of my Maiden collection! No Prayer for the Dying is my favorite album of the 90"s.Love it!Except Bring your Daughter to the Slaughter!!Uuunnh!Awful song!
No Prayer For The Dying is an underrated album. Cheers
As long as Wasting Love isn't on the list. That was such a trend-sucking glam power ballad wannabe piece of shit, worst thing Maiden ever did.
It's in there 😂 Thanks for watching
