Good to hear your thoughts on the albums James. Yeah the top 3 are in a league of their own. Some really good albums further down the order, but it's a very strong year and they had to fit in somewhere.
Good to see you picking up some Exumer, them & Accuser round out my German Big 6. That Onslaught is another high end thrashterpiece. Glad to hear you had a good time at the festival 🤘
You can only Lars bash if you're able to play better than he did on Master of Puppets ....which most people can't lol. I got into Thrash in '87 & Master of Puppets along with Among the living, Peace Sells & Reign in Blood made me a Thrasher for life. Good reviews mate, everyone's going to have their own favourites, opinions & different orders but you're always close to the mark 🤘🙂👌
Lars hate is very trendy in Metal circles but he played some great stuff back in the day. So many Thrash bangers released back in 86/87. Thanks for watching Rob my friend
Great ranking James! Nice to hear a little from your Bloodstock experience too, a friend of mine went and really enjoyed it too. I'd love to go next year but the tickets for the weekend are almost gone already!! I just can't commit that kind of cash so far into the future unfortunately, so it might be another year without going for me. Awesome list, I'd have The Force towards the bottom for me. I've never liked that album, the vocals are bad. A lot of these albums I need to check out like Sodom, Destruction, Nuclear Assault, Possessed and Exhumer to name a few. Can't really argue with your top 3, they're the most well known and probably the best Thrash albums from 86'. Maybe the order would be slightly different for me. Having listened to it recently, Voivod's Rrrroooaaarrrr would make my list for this year. Nice one mate! 😁🤘🏻🤘🏻
@mrboulder9714 OK, fair enough man. Those high vocals are annoying and very gimmicky. I remember every verse and chorus he'd do the exact same thing, got very boring after a few tracks. I honestly prefer all their other albums to this one, this is the weakest one for me. They have a great catalogue though 🤘🏻🤘🏻
@JoshKeech They do have a very strong catalogue. Some of their more recent albums are just as strong as what they were putting out back in their hey day
Hi James!!! Glad to hear you had a good time at Bloodstock festival...... Cool list awesome albums and nice to see a couple of great German bands too. I also discover Exumer just a couple of years ago thanks also to the VC and seeing them so high on your list was a nice surprise!!! cheers and be well
Great video again, Mr B! Many thanks for the shoutout. It was fantastic to meet you at Bloodstock, too! It's hard to argue with your top 3 here, whether predictable or not! I'm surprised you rank Sanitarium as the weakest on Puppets, as it's one of my favourite Metallica songs, full stop! It's tough to pick a weakest track from an album that great, though! Such a great year for Thrash Metal, and it's always interesting to see how people rank the classics! Cheers! 🤘
Hatd to not put those 3 classics in the Top 3 of this year mate. 3 absolute bangers. Was epic to meet you guys and hang out. Tickets are already booked for next year, so if you guys do end up going I will see you guys again at Bloodstock 2025
Your no 1 would be my pick as well mate first metallica album I ever heard and it's still my favourite gonna give megadeth another chance always wanted to like them but I've never been able to fully warm to dave's vocals but recently picked so far so good for cheap havn't spun it yet though thanks as always!
Great ranking, can't argue with most of those picks. I have a few different albums on my list but overall the lists are similar. 1. Slayer - Reign In Blood 2. Metallica - Master Of Puppets 3. Angel Dust - Into The Dark Past 4. Destruction - Eternal Devastation 5. Whiplash - Power And Pain 6. Kreator - Pleasure To Kill 7. Megadeth - Peace Sells... 8. Deathrow - Riders Of Doom 9.Onslaught - The Force 10.Exumer - Possessed By Fire 11.Nuclear Assault - Game Over 12.Possessed - Beyond The Gates 13.Voivod - Rrroooaaarrr
Great video James. I'm glad you've enjoyed and had a great time at Bloodstock festival! Some fantastic bands buddy. Xentrix and Sadus still delivering live 🤘 I have to agree with your top 3 here, it might be cliché but these are the *top* records here. Those albums made history 🙂 Slayer's Reign In Blood is a masterpiece, firing on all cylinders there. 28 minutes of pure brutal thrash metal 👊 Seen Megadeth in Tilburg about 2 months ago, they've still got it. Dave sounded great live, they've played "The Conjuring" that night. Absolute superb track 🎶
Cracking year for Thrash mate. Onlsaughts The Force is up there for uk thrash and for me it holds its own against other stuff from around the globe too. Ventor sings some belters on Pleasure To Kill but as you say Mille kills it on there, great voice and a total nasty beast of a record! Youve got the heavy hitters covered in this list for sure James. looking at it, id have to have Reign In Blood on top of the pile. They took the Devil from the murky dank teenage bedroom and dropped him straight into a street fight with that record haha! Still sounds powerful. Perfect length for a Thrash album too. Class vid James, all class records. Good to hear Bloodstock was a blast mucker! Cheers.
Great ranking video James! As usual we disagree, but not in a bad way of course, I'd have Game Over a bit higher and throw Agent Steel and Death Row into the mix. Complete agreement on the #1 though!
I'm pretty sure Agent Steel didn't put out an album in 86 mate. Not familiar with Death Rownso that's something new for me to check out. Definitely mate, Master of Puppets is an amazing album. Cheers Andy. Good to hear from you mate 👍
Beyond the Gates is more of a death metal album to me. But it's still good. 1. Flotsam and Jetsam - Doomsday for the Deceiver 2. Metal Church - The Dark 3. Metallica - Master of Puppets 4. Megadeth - Peace Sells... But Who's Buying? 5. Slayer - Reign in Blood 6. Kreator - Pleasure to Kill 7. Sepultura - Morbid Visions 8. Destruction - Eternal Devastation 9. Sodom - Obsessed by Cruelty 10. Dark Angel - Darkness Descends 11. Whiplash - Power and Pain 12. Exumer - Possesed by Fire 13. Razor - Malicious Intent 14. Nuclear Assault - Game Over 15. Tankard - Zombie Attack 16. Sacrifice - Torment in Fire 17. Onslaught - The Force
@fjuczer667 I wasn't sure if I should include Possessed, but if you Google the band name it says they are Thrash Metal. Cheers for watching and sharing your excellent ranking fella.
Again a great year for Thrash!! Those would be my top 3 also! Tankard I just started listening to about a year ago great band! I do agree that Sodom album sounds awful, I actually have that same version on CD also! Really enjoyed this video!🤘👍
@georgegsroomofrock9868 Tankard are superb and a little underrated for me. Yeah, that Sodom album sounds terrible. The snare drum just overpowers everything. Cheers George
Great rankings. The top 2 are like an immovable object and the unstoppable force. Both are implicitly assumed to be indestructible. 1986 was a great year...🤘
It's definitely worth a revisit Mike. Yeah, it's kinda predictable to have the ones at the top where they are, but they do live up to the hype. Cheers mate

Metalica - Master of puppets Not my favorite album of theirs but still a good album
