Tournament Time!!! Bass Fishing a SWAMP!!! Old Town Sportsman PDL in Action!
This month we visit Parker Lake in Jackson, Alabama and this was a place unlike anything this Hoosier has ever seen! Surprisingly I only saw one alligator, but he kept his distance and I kept mine :) There were so many Cypres trees that I had to be careful not to get lost! My Old Town kayak was decked out, took the PDL unit instead of the trolling motor for this trip. How did I do? Watch and find out.

    Ive been using one for years. I have adapted all kinds of things to attach to the ewheels. Tool cart, large wagon, zuca cart, and I use my Rovic rv1s for golf and disc golf. There is an attachment called cb sidekick that allows the wheels to follow you hands free.

      That's awesome! Very creative! I would love to figure out a way to attach my kayak cart to the wheels, that would make life a bit easier 😆 my friend and I have talked about the following feature but both of us prefer the cart to stay in front of us. I'm very intrigued by their new cart with the wheels already built in. And I think it's a great price too! Thank you so much for watching and commenting. Hit'em straight and long!

    Huge price difference between the two, not fair. Man, what a nice fishing spot. Looks so relaxing. Runcl makes a spincast reel that's in the same price range and size as the Brutus that would make a perfect comparison. I've got the Zebco Delta reel that I like very much.

      @marvinmurakami88 head to head without mentioning price isn't a fair comparison. My goal was to determine if the $70 difference was worth it. I think for the occasional fisherman that answer is no, but for the avid fisherman I believe it is. Luckily the place I filmed that is only about 15 minutes from the house so I get to frequent it often and it is very peaceful. I really appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment!

    Hey brother thanks for sharing your tournament day I really appreciate your videos especially these learning experience videos! It is so important to study these lakes in pre- fishing learning everything about the composition of the lake and the weather affects the biting conditions it definitely helps you understand and build your strategy. Like they say in the outdoors community 2 is 1 and 1 is 0 this it’s your learning year in these tournaments and you can’t have your sweet without your sour! Now how you react and come back from a day like this is what makes you a better angler, so take what you learn and build from it for the next one brother! I’m sorry it wasn’t the outcome you wanted but hang in there you will come back even stronger than before tight lines sir take care and God bless!

    I am so guilty of that same behavior. The night before I come up with a plan and I'll have 9 rods rigged up with a perfect variety of baits and then I get on the water and only use 2 of those rods all damn day! If I knew I was gonna do that I could have left the other 7 behind to make things easier but it would be better to use them all. The reason it goes like that for me is when I'm in a kayak I'm moving around so much that my favorite bait is still fresh to any fish that might see it. Although I am also guilty of staying too long in any spot that looks fishy. It's funny because when I'm shore fishing I have a 4 rod limit but if I could carry more I would definitely use them to get something new in front of the fish. The point is: I should stick to the plan!

    • @yakkittymack
      @yakkittymack 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @jasonm1884 💯 percent correct. It's like I know I need a variety of options before I go fishing, but then I throw it all out the window when I get there. I think for me it is also the confidence factor. I am confident with top water and now the Texas rig, so that's all I use. I absolutely have to break out of that if I'm ever going to be competitive. Thank you for watching and commenting as always. Very much appreciated 👍

    @Pelican Sport This company does not support their products. They broadly interpret their warranty to not warrant defects when items purchased on sale or discounted! What does a store discounting an item have to do with a defect warranty? I put this out to the community: I understand your frustration, and I apologize for any confusion regarding our warranty policy. Our warranty explicitly excludes products sold in "as is" conditions, demos, prototypes, liquidation, or floor models. While the policy does not explicitly mention "discounted" items, it is broadly interpreted to include items purchased on sale or at a discount that fall under these categories. While I empathize with your situation, unfortunately, our warranty terms are designed to apply uniformly to all customers, regardless of purchase price or promotional discounts. Based on our current policy guidelines, we are unable to extend warranty coverage to your purchase. We value your feedback and take your concerns seriously. If there's anything else we can assist you with within the confines of our policy, please let us know. Thank you for your understanding. You went all in on the toad. I'm glad it paid off. Congrats on accomplishing the mission. At least you are progressing. I have never had much success with a toad like that. A hook pointed down is no good. I do use a hollow body kicking frog that works fairly well.

    Cool pros and con video. I think you have the right idea getting the motor going now that the temps are so high. Running from spot to spot gives you a good chance to rest and re hydrate. In colder weather working the pedals will help warm you up.

      @Eightmile_Drifter thank you sir! Yeah, it will make a difference in the heat depending on the body of water. @markhumphries6020 no, I haven't attempted an outboard, and don't know if I will in the future. If I do, I would seriously consider electric. I currently only use the trolling motor and it is 55 pounds of thrust. No gonna win any races, that's for sure 😃 thank you for watching and commenting, I appreciate you! Yes sir. I run one motor on my kayak and one on my Bass Raider and neither one of them have ever had an issue. I don't really need to. Thank you for watching and commenting. I appreciate you!

    once again, you nailed it. I am comfortable with spinning and baitcasters setups and I bought the kastking for one purpose...skipping docks. throwing a lure between pontoons is tough and likely going to end up with a back lash and unexpected bang against a dock. spincast won't backlash. I'm trying to nail down the best rod for this..maybe a short rod with a fast action that I can use for finesse baits. going to put 10 braid on mine with a lighter fc leader soon. thanks again for your great content.

    Very informative. As you know, I have a paddle kayak, but occasionally I wish I had a motor. I do enjoy fishing from a paddle kayak cuz I'm old school & it does give me some exercise. I definitely see the benefits of a motor for tournaments but with my back issues, I can only kayak fish about 4 hrs so I don't enter tournaments. Great video

    Once again thanks for video. I did a similar mod on my ascend kayak with a trolling motor. But was unable to mount on the rear , so I side mounted with a Railblaza bracket. Just shy of 70 yrs it help save energy. lol. I also installed an Anchor wizard for my anchor system so I don’t drift as much. Overall I’m happy, nothing is perfect. Look forward to your next “juicy” video.

      @davidheiser1566 You're welcome! And thank you for watching!! I looked at the Railblaza system before I made my modification and was seriously considering that option, but my yak doesn't have thick plastic on the tank walls where I would need to mount it and I was concerned about that. I also looked at the Brocraft model that is very similar but drops into the rear-facing rod holders. Ultimately, I chose to keep everything up front. I turn 55 this year, so I understand saving energy. Thank you for watching as always. I appreciate you!!!!

    I watched a tournament and all the anglers getting ready to start and once they said go I saw a significant difference in they way anglers travelled to their spot. An angler with a paddle went at it at full speed trying to keep up with those who were peddling but he had no chance against the motors. He worked very hard to keep up, but crossing lots of water I would assume he exhausted pretty quickly and by the time he got to his spot someone must have already arrived their and he had to rest before he started. Motors give you a much better movement over a large area of water and having paddle control you can turn your motor completely off and slowly paddle into position and like you’re great points control the way you disturb the water to fish! I’ve heard that Spot lock helps with getting you into position and staying there without drifting out of position. Gene the fluke master says he didn’t go fishing to go exercise anymore but to relax and focus on fishing lol! It’s great to be aware what is available and what’s going to help you be a better tournament angler every second counts and weight capacity could overcome your enjoyment and hurt your progress more than help and weight capacity could effect the mobility of the kayak! Hey brother thanks for sharing always appreciate your insight and informational videos keep up the great work and until the next tournament tight lines sir!

    • @yakkittymack
      @yakkittymack 28 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @granvillej3316 You are very observant! Motors certainly have some distinct advantages and the technology they have on the higher-end models is pretty amazing. However, beyond health reasons, I cannot imagine a scenario where I would not want the option to peddle. Peddles are able to do things that motors cannot. That comes at a cost in terms of fatigue, but one that I am willing to endure. Every fisherman has their style and if I was a KVD type of angler, covering water fast....a motor would be perfect. But I'm a slow and methodical bank beater and peddles give me the hands-free control I need to do that and I'm able to manage vegetation a lot better. My 1st kayak was a paddle yak and I hated dealing with a paddle. My 3rd kayak....might just be an EPL if they ever bring that tech to the freshwater platforms. Thank you so much for watching and commenting, I so appreciate your support!!!!
