  • Welcome to Yakkitty Mack. I'm at it again. Trying to learn how to bass fish from my kayak in preparation for the upcoming 2024 tournament season. I'd like to invite you to watch, teach, and enjoy a beginner learning the ropes and filming my successes and failures and having a bit of stupid fun along the way. I'd be eternally grateful if you were to subscribe and follow along. Now, let's get outside and play! ‪@KastKing‬ ‪@OldTownCanoeKayak‬

Nice job ! It's hard to beat that texas rigged worm for a good day fishing ! It's nice to watch a video of real fishing. Not like the others where the videos are edited into an outstanding day on the water every time one is posted. Stay safe and keep in touch .

@fishingwithhouse thank you for your kindness. The realness is also what makes your channel refreshing. It's nice to just come along with someone for a little time in the outdoors without feeling like someone is trying to sell you something or get enough clicks to get paid. Thanks for watching! I appreciate you!

Great video sir! It’s nice to catch a lunker but it’s nicer to appreciate the pure joy in catching a fish. I’m afraid a lot of folks have forgotten that joy, it’s plain to see you have not. Keep on having fun,the big ones will come!🎣

@johnnybrown7542 It was fun. I wish I could have stayed out a little longer but the wind got pretty rough. I'm gonna have to pitch into some shallow water to see how these baits look. Having a swimming pool would be great for something like that. Like I wonder how a straight tail worm looks versus a curly tail or a jig or a crawl. Thank you for watching and commenting. I appreciate you!

I agree completely that high visibility line has no impact on the fish. We're dealing with animals here that have a pea sized brain and zero reasoning capabilities. They certainly don't understand that people are trying to catch them, even if they've been caught before. Their environments are filled with way more junk and organic matter floating around than most people realize. Consider this: if someone snaps off their line on a log and its drifting in the current, will THAT forever spook every fish in that area?! Loving these videos! You may not be catching huge quantities of fish but I'm definitely "hooked"

@jasonm1884 wow man, you always make me feel good about what I'm doing, I appreciate that! I agree 💯. I think we have a tendency to attach human thoughts and emotions to nonhuman species. I'm going to keep using the high visibility line and just try to not over think it all. Hopefully the numbers will come up as I gain confidence and size would help too. Thanks for following along and participating. It means a lot!

Beautiful day until the front came through, glad you were able to catch a couple. Confidence is being built. Look forward to next update.

@davidheiser1566 thank you. I hated cutting the day short, but I pretty much had to. I'm feeling better about my progress than I was a month ago that's for sure! I'm having fun learning and sharing and I really appreciate you being a part of it. Thank you!

@@yakkittymack I’m kinda like you, recently retired and haven’t fished for 50+ years. Basically starting to learn everything new, so many changes. I mainly fish farm ponds & very small lakes, bank fishing. Late summer bought a cheap kayak after getting frustrated with all the weeds around bank & in water. Hard to cast far enough. Also a non-swimmer too. Enjoy your channel!

@@davidheiser1566 I'm glad you enjoy the videos! I'm assuming this is your first time fishing from a kayak? How do you like it? Do you find it hard to relax being a non-swimmer? My first several times I was a nervous wreck! My first yak was a Vibe Yellowfin 100 and the Old Town Sportsman is so much better (so much more expensive too) but I am completely at ease on that kayak. Going on 2 years with it and I couldn't be happier. As a non-swimmer I almost chickened out of getting a kayak. I'm so glad I didn't. I appreciate you watching and commenting! Enjoy the retired life...wish I was there. 😆

I am glad you are getting more confidence. Depending on water clarity, line can play a role. As I have gotten older, I found using high vis braid and use a fluorocarbon leader. This helps with line visibility, better feel, and less line stretch. Only way to get real data on the effect of hi vis line is to have multiple anglers fishing the same bait in the same water fish the exact area and determine catch rates over multiple trips. I try and take advantage of every tool I can to help. If you are going to fish tournaments, you may want to try it out. Tight Lines, and don't give up, looks like you are having a great time!

Thank you. It feels pretty good to be gaining confidence. I'm still not sure if I'm working the lures in the best way, but that'll come the more I do it. I have tried braid a couple of times but not for very long because if I get a backlash it's impossible to pick out. I'll give it another go. I really appreciate you watching and offering up your experience!

Need to get rid of that yellow line- or color the last 10’ of it with darkish green marker

      I like the marker idea!
