Dating Sims set in universities are really rare, and there are some games where the protagonist is university student that dates(or in eroge, worse.) middle to high school girls. Bishoujos over 18 are too old for the genre it seems. The girls should stay away from Namil as far as possible. The stuff with Aeran was like, ugh girl just leave.

Back in the days there was a wave of MC x Nanjo or Brown and sometimes Kido doujinshis that I knew their names even before playing Persona. I think Mikimoto's art has that universal charm that can be accepted anywhere and at any time period.

On average I think it's not any more sexist than other Japanese Dating Sims or game featuring Bishoujos. But that Food Stand event ew Good thing Mikimoto is a prolific artist so there will be lots and lots of reference! He has this distinctive watercoloury vibe; it's def. a good challenge recreating that in sprite art.

Some games really do feel that way.

At the very least they had CG events and endings. Some Dating Sims have dudes as half the main cast that don't even have endings.

There's this event CG with younger Akane and the protagonist and I couldn't for the love of my life get to see it. According to the person who saw it it's super rare since Affection raises randomly between 1~5 when talking to her in lunch sessions. And there's no way of checking her stats via Yuka since Akane's a side character. Tried three times and had to give up T_T At least someone cared enough to upload the deleted endings. Mikimoto fame ftw

Everyone's entitled to their opinions, but there's nothing to discredit about the genre. In fact, one of the reasons I made this channel is because of the 'ha ha dating sims funny lulz' narrative I keep on seeing. And I bid you welcome to this secluded place! Hope you enjoy my stuff. Finally you can make the playable character look super weird but we can't date any of the fighters boo I say. A Darkstalkers Dating Sim would have the most diverse romantic interests ever. Back in the days I was confused cuz Aulbath/Rikuo looked so handsome yet he's a fish lol

Imagine you just want to play sports but required to build an entire food stand for a month. I assume it's voluntary. (But there's always peer pressure) The game's quite addicting and yes, the music's quite catchy! I too was impressed that this game had surprisingly more tan girls than an average Dating Sim(which is as you know not a lot). Shouko's a bit more tanned compared to other girls, too.

The memories did stick for me as well, but not necessarily good ones 😅 I did learn to opt out of these stuff as convincingly as possible lol I guess in order to make the state-of-the art Network Machine convincing it really had to be set in the future. Oh and the Science Club made a robot I guess.

​@@MissSun23 Looked further into it; seems like Imagine Happy Cooking/Master Chef kept the original design. Happy Cooking(without the Imagine title) was the one with the different looking Komugi and Usa-chan, but in fact she was a completely different person called Lisa. So you didn't lose anything in terms of aesthetics, hehe. Sorry about that.

afaik, it's currently in WIP. But tkmk2 has WAY more text than the first one, so that will take lot more effort on the translation team's part. Only if we could get an official localization..

WanNyan Animal Hospital can be interesting since the pet treatments do require a bit of strategy, but the overall grinding from pet treatment to the Ratings Stat really takes a lot of fun out of it. Fab Style has a translation?! Hope it will be finished. I consider it an Otome game set in modern Japan but with Hollywood film vibes. And not a lot of Japanese dating sims have a half-black romantic interest, so that was interesting.

I enjoy Isekai like it's just fun and mindless and as an adult who wants to run away from all my responsibilities it tickles a very specific part of my brain. The Twelve Kingdoms has always been a favorite but I like typical trash like Konosuba lol. Lately I've been more into Isekai like 高度に発達した医学は魔法と区別がつかない where the main character actually contributes something plus the art is super gorgeous. And omg otome gamers are SO serious about no queerness in their games to the point where I am baffled. I am aware of the history of otome games and defend the genre's distinction as well but there were upset fans when Tengoku Struggle came out because an LI was a sex worker in his past and since it included male customers some felt it was a betrayal.

I read Twelve Kingdoms because of the cover art, and the things I remember was that the fact babies grow from trees are hilarious and the writer was a Reinhardt(from Galactic Heroes) fangirl. Probably was too young for it. Like I said in the video, I absolutely don't mind the Otome protagonist making her(the player's) decision to romance another female character, but that doesn't seem to sit well with some Otome gamers. As for BL in Otome, when I see BL doujin between the romanceable characters in Otome games I too scratch my head. But it's fanwork so anything can go. I do find it a problem in games like St.Valentine school(a BL game) where the romantic interests completely ignore the protagonist to do their own fluff cutesy BL stuff amongst themselves. But being annoyed by an ex-sex worker character who had rando male customers? That's intolerant imo Then again, I remember male Otaku having a book burning event for Kannagi because it was revealed Nagi was not a virgin -_-

@@bapsago absolutely agree! And lol at that being what you remember from Twelve Kingdoms. Idk I am a hardcore fan for the series but it also is a Isekai that doesn't operate as an escape like she was basically dropped in hell but it's a story of self discovery and finding your inner strength. And yeah it's strict over here in otome world sometimes and like the crops are dying let's try to remix things sometimes. Idk if you've played Chou no Doku but I remember being thrown for a loop when I saw a female character was listed as a target character although to call her that is giving a lot lol. But still it was interesting and it made sense for the story!

When I played Tokimeki Restaurant and Fab Style, I named the player & business name Beyonce and Blue Ivy lol

Princess Debut is a well made game. It also made waves being a Cave game that wasn't a danmaku shooter with 'hime' in the title lol

The DS is one of the first consoles and games I bought with my hard earned money, so I also have a lot of attachment to it. The thing still works, too! I found Fab Style quite boring when I first played it back in the days(Ruby Party made a 3D Otome game that looked way better than Angelique Trois. Must Play.), but after playing Girl's Mode figured I was too harsh on it. Young me was such a pessimistic know-it-all-critic. In order to progress through Fab Style, you have to read up stuff on Marketing and Fashion and take a quiz on it, so menu translation isn't enough, unfortunately. Although it's multiple choice so brute-forcing or using emulator save states work, too.

They literally just stealth dropped Model Debut 3 nicola on the Switch American eShop a few days ago..! It's not groundbreaking, but if you want a fashion game with a story, there's that. I think that there was a 3ds nicola released in English, too..? I've played through the first game ( in Japanese ), and the fashion model game was fun enough to waste at least a single playthrough on. Ironically enough, I'm waiting for the 2nd game I ordered to come in.
