We make sounds with the things that we make to make sounds with.
Folded PWM Tš-L
In this video, we explore some sound examples from a folded PWM synth voice using the Tš-L as the primary audio source.
Connecting the PWM Output to the Wavefold CV Input allows for four levels of timbre control via the PWM knob/PWM CV Input, the PWM Waveform Crossfade knob, the Wavefold knob, and the Symmetry Bias knob. The sequencer or keyboard sends voltages to Tš-L while simultaneously triggering the envelope generator. The CV output of the envelope generator opens the filter and VCA, allowing Tš-L’s signal to pass through. More traditional East Coast patches would incorporate separate envelope generators for the filter and VCA.

Love these little demo videos, keep them up :)
Awesome. Love the self patching!
Some great tones in here. I like how you both shared the patch and an idea of how to control the timbre in a musical way with this particular patch. Thanks for sharing!
Love this patch

Never thought I'd spend my Thursday night cracking a couple of cans and watching a video about all-pass filters but here I am
Hi Instruo lovelies. Any chance we're gunna get those lovely samples that came with the V2 for download. Like the sample library that was made available for the Lunbadh v2.0. Plz.
That was some thoroughly delightful modulation. I approve of this fully/
No that was a pretty good joke 😂
Hey Instruo! Please make your VCV module Mac ARM compatible soon ❤ 🤘
We're all hands on deck with hardware development. But we'll get to VCV stuff at some point ;) All the plugins are still fully compatible as x64 via rosetta 2. I still teach with them with no compatibility issues :)
Awesome!!
Supper cool! I love the electric violin
my future living room
My personal set up is Polyend Tracker into Midi to CV into the three voices into the filters/LGs/VCA into mixers into effects and Lubadh and Arbhar end of chain. I put the voices in one rack so I have them all within reach as the sequence is playing.
Please, can you upload a video of you guys just noodling with this beast, duration of your choosing, 10 minutes, 10 hours ❤
That's very much the plan!! Now that it has much better optimised, dedicated space it will feature more and more in what we create. And eventually we'll be inviting some artists in to work with it :)
@@instruo Frickin' sweet! Chookity pah
Thank You very much. There are still so many things to discover about that module. Please make few videos abouth Lubadh. Don’t stop.
Amazing as always!😮
Guys! When will the VCV Rack macOS ARM64 modules finally be ready? 🙏I miss them a lot since I swapped my Intel-based mac for an M2...
@@mpingo91 for now they are still fully compatible and efficient running on Apple silicon via rosetta2. All developers are hands on deck with hardware development at present but we’ll get to software support at some point :) I teach using the VCV suite, and I use M1 macs, so I have personal incentive to maintain them ;) It’s a case of juggling projects at present.
@@instruo Gee! Rosetta! I had forgotten about that! THX!
@@instruois that with the latest version of VCV?
@@Jin-Hu Good question! I'm currently running V2.4.1 macOS x64 It's been totally stable for me on a 2021 M1 MAX machine. The trick will be to install the x64 version vs the arm64 version. I would guess that the .pkg will be a universal macOS installer which will have both x64 and arm64 in it. There's bound to be a way to install the x64 build for use through rosetta2. This is why I like analogue gear! 🤣
@@instruo ah, that’s what I did too, took a wee bit of sleuthing lol, thanks man
Is there a plan to port the VCV modules to be able to run natively on ARM-based Macs? I’m running the ARM64 version of VCV, and the Instruo collection isn’t available.

@@instruo Looking forward to it. Thanks for all you do!
That's Amazing!
For those looking to use tágh to follow a live drummer, Ben from Instruō kindly did some tests for me. The tágh does follow the tempo well but it wasn't able to keep the downbeat in time with the kick drum. It's probably most useful as an in-tempo random generator (including pulses) rather than as a clock for the rest of a system. The test used a low-pass filter on a drum loop to isolate the kick drum: kick drum > envelope follower > comparator > gate out clocking the tágh.
A first fundamental approach is exactly as you describe: with filtering and envelope following a particular impulse (kick). The tagh looks for a modular clock signal. So deriving that steady BPM clock signal is ultimately the missing piece of the puzzle here. I designed the tempo follower pretty much with the use case you describe in mind. The primary factor will be regularity. The tap tempo following algorithm doesn't account for missed beats. Meaning that if in 4 bars of 4/4, missing a beat would cause the follower to try to adapt to half time, 2/4 over the duration of 1 beat, which will cause it to fluctuate and lag. How dramatically this will occur will depend on the overall tempo. Precise tempo following from a variable complex audio source (live drums) was never my intent for the tagh on its own, as this is already much better done natively within ableton and other software applications. Adapting to a tempo-variable, consistent clock is what the tagh does very well :) I actively patch and play with a modular system in conjunction with acoustic drums. (I have some videos in the works showing some of the methods I've been exploring) There are always limitations with tempo following. Ableton is by far the best consumer implementation :) Please do keep us updated on any solutions you find moving forward!
@@instruo MI Marbles has so far been the best friend for following a live drummer. I sent a file with Marbles following a loop to Ben, so you can check it out if you want to compare. Marbles was generally more consistent than tágh, and much better at landing on the beat, but unlike tágh it stops when the incoming clock stops. Marbles also tends to do wild clock multiplications when the incoming pattern changes (though it does usually manage to land back on the beat). Marbles will remember the sequence of incoming pulses, so as long as the pattern stays consistent it will follow really well. Marbles will also anticipate tempo changes if the gate length is a function of tempo. Ben did the tágh test for me so I can't be sure of all of the variables. I'm in Brazil so it's near impossible to get my hands on a tágh to do the comparison myself. Thanks for sharing your thinking! I'd love to see some videos with your thoughts and experiments working with live drums.
Fantastic patch. Time to get a couple of more cnōcs for my case! Oh, and another harmonàig! 😂
Another sterling patch by David Pollock
Nice! Would love to see some of David's ideas for patching tágh with cnōc.
Yes please!
Yum... 👌
That is one gorgeous bleep bloop machine! 😊
Beautiful 😍
So, if Instruo stopps putting new stuff out for a while, are we to assume it's because yall are playing with this beast? 😂
@@claytonlister25 ahaha yes. It Gets the creative juices going
great video! I followed all steps. copied the 2.0.2 onto the micro sd card and upated with belaetcher on osx. now when I plug in the card, the module keeps to stay in a mode where the leds are rotating endless and when I plug it back to the computer, my mac says it cant read the micro sd card anymore and I need to format 😞any ideas?
Only the 2.0.0 upgrade file is for the uSD card. All subsequent updates are done via USB. If you send us and email at info@instruomodular.com the support team will be happy to help :)
@@instruo ah thanks! I updated with 2.0 and it worked. thanks! I ll get the usb thingy from a friend.
@@faruambient Any USB drive can be used. The modules ship with a black 4GB drive which will work for applying the update.
Hey man 2 questions, A are you running trs balanced out of cuir output module. B when you mix your tracks do you slam the limiter to get those volumes up when exporting?
Yep I use the cuïr for balanced outs. It gives a bit of extra headroom at line level and can provide some improvements through common mode rejection of system noise. When producing my own videos I record audio into a zoom F6 which generates timecode linked to my camera(s) to give me ease of sync between the audio and video. The F6 is a 32bit recorder so it captures the signal at whatever level without requiring much concern of gain staging (I’m still getting used to this wizardry!). I will typically apply a basic mastering pass to the edited audio stems after side chain compression is applied which will duck the synth tracks against my voice over. Whatever setup is used, optimised gain staging is critical, especially where Eurorack is utilised.
@@instruo oh awesome thanks for letting me know this. I didn’t know the f6 did this thats pretty sweet. Gain staging is a must i completely agree. I figured you would be using plugins to polish up your stems like compressors/eq, etc…
@@joeymc5272 only the minimal amount of processing to balance levels/dynamics with the voice over, and then a basic compression and limit on the master bus to reign in any extremes for mix down. I set up an Ableton template years ago for: close mic, room mic, synth tracks. The only time I micromanage is cleanup of voice over and to reign in any synth sections that are pure tone demonstrations of oscillators and the like. Which is less of a musical context. Even on more fleshed out musical patches I tend to patch with dynamics in part of the patch so it’s only ever a stereo stem from the synth.
Oh ok that makes sense well thank you for this. Sounds great. Im still newer to recording so getting those loud clear separated sounds tends to get a little difficult for me without really processing in daw/ableton
I like the sounds of it. Made any songs with it ?
Arbhar hands down
Neoni. So versatile.
Tonto 2.0

Looks like TONTO - Look up Expanding Head Band.
I guess I better update my lubadh firmware, lol.
The update is a considerable upgrade! ☺️ Can recommend!
Nice demo! Keep it up!
will this module be a part of the vcv rack collection? will gladly pay for it.. still praying for arbhar comes to vcv rack someday
Not any time soon. But other less cpu intensive designs will continue to be added. Both Arbhar and Lubadh are running on their own dedicated quad core processors. Porting would be one of the hurdles, but then the cpu requirements would be orders of magnitude over other modules. In terms of software alternatives, I would point people towards Ableton :)
Wonderfully timed, I just got my Lubadh in yesterday and I am so excited to explore it's possibilities!
yes! this was so fun to watch. one of my favorite modules & one of my favorite creators. i really hope there’s a part 2 and/or one for Arbhar!
Thanks for having me on the channel ~ it was a very fun video to make! ☺️
This module is insanely deep and can do a LOT.
okay, i guess i have to update my firmware now
Big fan of @TheUnperson, so great to see him here. I've become such a fan of Instruo's modules, as you all seem to think so much about the music first, not just cool tricks.
Super cool, I really need to try that.
This is so awesome, really love the delay from Lubadh. Is it easy to clock KOii?
The KO2 has a clock input so it’s very easy to sync, but in the vid I’m just hitting play in time.
@@TheUnperson cool, thanks for that, so you could clock it with Pam than no worries?
I’ve been hoping someone would do this exact demonstration. Much appreciated!!
Yes!! Lubadh!! Such a great module, with so much to unlock .. love it!
