This is such a gift to the community. All the work that went into this and every owner of the Lubadh basically gets Lubadh 2. Instead of releasing a new module, they choose to improve the worth of the module that is already out there. Thank you Instruo 🙏👏

This video is a bit like having to read everything that's on Google in a single day, so much to digest. The only things that stick is the USB breakout and what I absolutely love is the ability to record independent of what the original recording is doing. The tape emulation is wonderful, it's all wonderful. How will I ever learn and remember all this...

Got any plans for the real Reel life 3 vid?

Took me the better part of a week, but just made it through all the demos, really impressive! I'm especially grateful for the example of using the normalled feedback pathway in the Octave delay demo. I'd used that really effectively once in the past and then never quite could find the way I had done it. Definitely going to back to that one a few times. And ordered the Làrachd to try out the foot switches.
The V2 firmware definitely seems like a long-labor of love made by serious loop-lovers! I am looking forward to learning all of its little ins-and-outs.

    • @danielmcanulty1562
      @danielmcanulty1562 ปีที่แล้ว

Now that it's arrived, the Làrachd is a great companion to the new multitap Lúbadh! The CV input to the erase button has a different functionality to the actual button (which I had missed at first), and the Làrachd is a great way to take advantage of that, not to mention a nice way to get guitar into the the Lúbadh.
Some notes for other users in case they are useful to anyone else:
DELETING TAPS WITHOUT A FOOTSWITCH/CV TRIGGER:
If anybody else is like me and missed the trick to only deleting taps and not erasing the recording, here it is from the manual:
"In a multi-tap capable mode, pressing and holding the Erase Button and then pressing the Retrigger/Shift Button will remove a playhead tap. Additionally, the CV Expander’s Erase Trigger Input can be used to remotely remove a playback tap."
      FOR FRIPPERTRONICS-ESQUE STYLES:
I finally remembered the trick for getting the samples to bounce cleanly between the reels: disable the input monitoring. Once you've done that you can set up multiple taps on both reels and hear them tossed back and forth between the two and get lots of fun emergent patterns.
      ----
The multitap redesign is fantastic, it's a little bit challenging to learn, but very rewarding.
I guess one thing I wish is that I could record all my tap settings. When you've got feedback between the two reels happening, the right tap settings are like, little pieces of gold.

incredible module, both because of its infinite depth but also because it"s so historically right, tape recording being the true beginning of electronic music but also the root of most delays effects. that update brings so many things and I don't know where to start. I want to try every preset and make my own. Congrats for all the work. Your demos are also so usefull and I spent so may hours watching them instead of working...
I'm still missing some global info I can't find in the manual and in your demos about general structure of all the module possibilies and i'm currently trying to recompose the puzzle. So far I understand that they are many options and presets are just some boxes ticked, but I don't have a global overview of all the boxes and options ( for ex speed ctrl has 2 options, classic and V/ oct, reading head has 2 options, mono and 4 reading heads ; 3rd option on time knob has 3 options ( tape modeling amount, tail length and speed slew) etc. but it's first hard to see all the given possibilities as a whole thing and a second cheat sheet would be welcome
it's also hard to understand how to change txt file to adjust my own presets ( i'm not familiar with that). I know you already gave us 3hrs of tutorials ( and I spent more than that watching them) but some help about how to make presets on the computer would be welcome ( sorry for asking...I know you already gave us so much)
It's also frustrating to be limited with 2 presets for both decks where 2 presets per deck would be less limitating ( but maybe harder to manage...) My sleep will be affected but thank you so much anyway!!!

The Lubadh is designed specifically to work with modular level signals.
Line or instrument level signals would need to be brought up to modular level to work with the Lubadh.
The module I use for this task is the Larachd which was designed as a versatile control and input method for the Lubadh (and arbhar).
It features a line to modular stage, envelope follower and comes with a dual button pedal for external control over gates and triggers.
There are also many other options out there that perform line to modular signal conversion.

The support team is here, very well equipped, and more than happy to help with this :)
The Lubadh and Arbhar are DEEP modules, and we do very much design the instruments that we want that resonate directly with our workflow styles.
That's why I go deep with videos like this and why we put a lot of effort into the user manuals.
But we totally get that everyone has very different work flows and styles.
Please feel free to reach out at info@instruomodular.com where we'll be more than happy to advise, clarify and give workflow suggestions.

Hiya! I don;t see any mention in here or the manual. I see that there is a user save location for audio files. Can you drop in a wav file into this folder to load pre-edited material? If yes, what is the wav format (bit depth/sr) etc? naming convention? The video was super helpful so thanks!

    • @instruo
      @instruo  ปีที่แล้ว +1

There are 12 folder each with a capacity of 12 samples.
There is also a 13th folder (folder 0) which is where audio actively saved from the Lubadh will be located. It will allow access to the 12 most recent saved files.
The 12x12 samples can be any audio you’d like :)
The Lubadh itself will auto convert to the optimum sample rate/bit depth upon loading. But 48/24 is a good starting point.
No naming convention. The first 12 in alphabetical order will be accessible on the Lubadh.

Great update, thank you! So it "clockable" recording available with this update? Like if I wanted to record loops in perfect time with an incoming clock source? If not, possibly there could be a future preset for this using the Retrigger CV in for the clock signal and when you trigger record, the recording would always start and end on the nearest clock pulse. This is how the Morphagene achieves clock synced looping.

I'm new to Lúbadh, could you please briefly explain how the foot switch is set up? Thank you. This module goes to the top of my wishlist 💛

      Happy to advise!! :D
The foot control is coming from a previous module of mine called the Larachd.
It's a versatile input utility module that includes a dual foot switch controller.
The pedal buttons simply produce triggers/gates that can be patched to the Lubadh to control its various parameters.

Can we get the samples without the new Extension Kit ?

    • @instruo

There is some additional website content in development :)
The plan is to host the sample collection for download on the site but there are a few proverbial irons in the fire this month so it's a work in progress!
In the shorter term I felt it added a nice little touch for Expansion Pack purchasers as a bit of an exclusive perk. The firmware is of course free to download since launch. The sample's will follow!

      Right now :)
The first wave of stock of expansion packs and the new carn modules went to distribution a couple of weeks so they would be in stores in time for today's launch!

@@instruo That's great, I I had this deep inner feeling that it was high time I sat down the with Lúbadh again and I was kind of craving doing some slow languorous looping. I spent tonight upgrading the firmware and ordering one of the expansion packs, I had no idea they were such a recent release until just now, very excited to check out all the work!
Also I owe you a long overdue email about k-bows! I haven't forgotten, I have been feeling guilty staring at boxes in my living room that I've needed to unpack for more than a year at least.
Cheers, and congratulations on the launch of this new phase of Lúbadh!
