    I guess I found some treasure. I came across an old K2 Proflex Beast in Lucern Valley and it has Noleen Chubbys on it. The bike needs new cables and shifters. I just now replaced the tires after 1 year of owning it. It had nice old worn out racer tires on it but I replaced them with CST Rock Hawks. I didn’t even know what kind of bike I found. I’m new to the sport.

    When I let the air out of my ZEB, the piston fully retracted. What would cause this? Love the vid, cheers!

    • @ButterSuspension
      @ButterSuspension 8 วันที่ผ่านมา

      That happens when the air in the negative chamber doesn't bleed off through the equalization dimple at the main air piston. If you let the air out too fast (or if the negative chamber became over pressurized) the air in the negative chamber gets "stuck" and it pushes the piston into the upper leg.

    If you have a C1 it can be vented. It's maddeningly hard to get info other than the official rockshox "reverb c1 vent" video. But you "need" their special tool. The secret is the thing under the seat labeled "vent" is actually just a shraeder valve cap. It's the cap itself that needs to be pressed down to do the procedure; this can be done using an undersized (eg, 8mm) socket on a wrench, and following the steps RockShox gives. (push vent down while seatpost is extended AND holding the seatpost to prevent it from dropping - once in vent position, push seatpost down, hold 2sec, let go of vent position, let go of seatpost). FWIW the schrader cap is 9mm if you need to unscrew it. Rockshox says 300psi but mine was at 200 and still works fine so I'm not going to risk overpressuring it. Bike only has 350 miles on it so I highly suspect it'll sag again even sooner next time, and eventually I'll have to junk it. But for now, this works.

    I can't figure out how to remove the coil from the 2021 shock. The rebound knob and housing is too big to slide that coil over. How do you do that?

    • @ButterSuspension

      Sometimes you can thread the adjustment knob all the way in to make clearance, but if that doesn't work you can remove the knob.

    • @ButterSuspension
      @ButterSuspension 27 วันที่ผ่านมา

      The piggyback doesn't unthread on this model, so you'll need to blow air through the bleed screw hole. They describe this on the Fox service site I believe.

    So I have a question, so I have a Trek 6500 and I feel a need to replace the forks, it's over twenty two years old, I think it's time, any suggestions? I need a travel of 63mm and the spacing between the drops for the wheels is 100mm and of course I'd need a v brake config, the only thing that seems to meet the parameters is a Suntour for around $130, I'd prefer a higher caliber name brand although if you'd vouchsafe the Suntour I'd go with that, any suggestions? :)

    • @ButterSuspension
      @ButterSuspension หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'd looked for a nice used fork. Rockshox, Marzocchi and Fox all made awesome forks back then, and there's still some good used forks out there. Just know that EVERY used fork from that vintage will need a rebuild. EVERY single one. I just rebuilt a 2000 Marzocchi air fork that was brand new, never ridden, it still needed a rebuild because time just breaks stuff down.

      Almost 2 years! Still great, but there's a 2nd car in my future. One with A/C, power windows, way more power and way less weight. In my head I have plans to make this more off-road capable, but it's gonna be a while.

  • @aaronbehindbars
    @aaronbehindbars หลายเดือนก่อน

    I love this video and it is very informative! There is a huge budget bike community and youtube channels like Kevcentral and Wolftick seem to use forks like these on some of their bike builds. It's probably still better than the steel lower pogos that come on a lot of big box bikes. I'd still rather have a SR Suntour XCT/XCM coil fork because I know it's durable, I can get all the parts to overhaul it, and it's simple enough even I can open it up and work on it. It's not worth saving a few bucks when there are name brand forks for $200 or less. I bought a Suntour Epixon for $158 just recently. Rock Shox Judy/Recon, XFusion RC32, and Suntour Raidon/Epixon are all great budget options.

    • @ButterSuspension
      @ButterSuspension 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not sure what the exact numbers are when you swap lowers and wheel size, but I'm pretty sure it's more than 10mm. Keep in mind you're changing both the radius of the wheel and the axle to crown height to accommodate that new radius. Wish I had two setups with the same travel to compare...

    Hey I wonder if you can help me! I just got a 2019 Ripmo with the Fox X2 rear shock. At 225 pounds though, I'm off the charts for air pressure at well over 300 psi! What shock can you recomend for a heavier rider? What do you think of Cane Creek?

    • @ButterSuspension
      @ButterSuspension 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm assuming you have a Float X2? (Fox has 3 "X2" models from that year, Float X2, DPX2 and the DHX2.) All of the bigger air can models are gonna have a lower max psi, regardless of brand. I'd go with a trail oriented shock like a Rockshox Super Deluxe or a Fox DPX2. The smaller air cans have a higher max psi so they're actually better for bigger riders.
