Use olive oil or something, churning it on an actual bike would make this next level!

@@ButterSuspension but if you did it on a bench fork just to use the spring to rebound the damper shaft to ease the thickening stage. Use round one butter to lube fork for round 2? Maybe try on a grip damper with a leg half full of heavy cream?
