    I guess I found some treasure. I came across an old K2 Proflex Beast in Lucern Valley and it has Noleen Chubbys on it. The bike needs new cables and shifters. I just now replaced the tires after 1 year of owning it. It had nice old worn out racer tires on it but I replaced them with CST Rock Hawks. I didn’t even know what kind of bike I found. I’m new to the sport.

    I have a totally uncut ,never mounted , barely can find a scratch noleen prototype fork like this one. They put in tons of workmanship into making it and even better than my other 97 Boxxer prototype . It would go past 10k usd in todays money if you find someone to design and make it for you.

    Need to pop the dust seal off then the retaining clip. Next the rough part. Sharply pull the stantion until it pull out. You'll have oil seal and inner/outer guides. They go back in with a seal driver tool. Hope thats useful albeit late 😂 👍

      If you were in Europe you could get Marzocchi forks from Italy. Those things were air sprung and oil damped back when Rockshox were still trying to convince people that lumps of highly temperature sensitive foam were a perfectly acceptable way to do suspension springs. The open bath coil/oil forks they came out with next (The Bomber family) redefined MTB supension and reliability. You literally can't buy a fork for any money now that will last as well as those forks did with zero maintenance. On the early model Bombers you could replace the bushings without any special tools too when they eventually got sloppy.

      Hey Alex! The Hanebrink is on the list! And yes, I do have some Englund Total Air cartridges, i'd love to tear into those! I used to use them on my Judy SL back in...1998? They're actually super simple, but it'll be fun to open them up again. Thanks for watching!

  • @eg4760
    @eg4760 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    This is exactly like a MX fork. Instead of undoing the dropout you usually put the spring back in place and compress it while undoing the lower cartridge. The pressure is usually enough for the cartridge tube to stop spinning.

    • @eg4760
      @eg4760 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Also the check valve can be replaced by what is called a mid-valve (basically a stack instead of the washer) which helps with fork dive, one of the issue of this style of cartridge. Playing with check valve spring and travel is also used to fine tune the mid-valve. If you ever plan to ride it that might be usefull. Plenty of info on MX forums.

      A friend sent me an article from a British mag about this fork when it came out, you're correct, it's literally a mini moto fork.

    your whole channel and your suspension-knowledge is awesome ✌ brings back great memories from the 90s too.
    I didnt even know this extremely good Noleen-fork...very rare.
    I'm riding e.g. a 1995/1996 RockShox Judy XC, about 65mm travel, the damper-cartridge seemingly was removed and in both sides is a
    good spring, works pretty well for light terrain, and I dont miss the help of compression/rebound much, but its a slight difference.
    as you said - these plastic-knobs which close the Judy at the top - oh oh - i dont trust them much, but til now nothing happened and they seem to
    hold, if youre not doing downhill all day long with the JudyXC
    Cheeeeers from Berlin, Germany, quite a MTB-scene here too since the early 90s

    Do you now anything about the NOLEEN Exhaust pipes? Got one off a 99 RM 250 and doesn't seem like it's for the bike but they got lucky the pipe fit the OEM silencer. The pipe fits at the engine fine no leaks. The connection to the aftermarket pro circuit silencer to the NOLEEN Pipe is off and bolt holes won't match.

    And that is the reason we ride rock shock and fox not Noleen and Proflex. Those guys made amazing bikes and tech 10-15 years ahead of time but wasted too much money. I just took apart mine 1997 Proflex Animal. Bike room fee doubled to $220 a year and no reason to keep a bike I ride maybe once a month around the block. Nr4 Pro Flex Piggy Back Rear Shock, Girvin Chubby front, Kooka cranks blued, Hellbend handlebars, Magura HS22 brakes red. Only thing I didn't like about the bike was gripshifts. I am keeping a frame as a wall hanger home decoration for all good memories that bike gave me in last 24 years.The rest goes to eBay coz parts sells for significantly more then whole bike.. Bought it new at the end of 1997 for $1500 on sell and travel through the world with it.
