This channel will follow me at work, cable jointing, living in my van in and around London and anywhere else in the uk I have to go and processing the scrap cable I get due to my work. I also might upload other interesting things along the way.

I very rarely do relaxing things at work but this is one of those times. Asmr is a thing that helps people relax apparently. Is this one of those things or not? #cablejointing #electrical #electrician #cablejointer #construction #electricalwork #asmr #asmrsounds

I didn't have permission to film in the hotels but I was basically visiting to see if they could have a voltage optimiser installed. In this instance I don't think either hotel would be suitable for a VO to be installed due to the amount of maximum current required. The Landmark had 2 panels that both had 3000amp main switches. They were fed from their own transformer via busbar. The LV panels ...

Tool theft is rising to epidemic proportions it needs to be addressed 1.6 million tradesmen are affected by this every year please help us!! @OnTheToolsOfficial are making it a major priority so please get on board and make sure everyone you know is aware of what's happening #cablejointing #electrical #electrician #tooltheft #tools
This is the last straw!!

I don't enjoy doing things like this but I feel like I had no option but to point this out. If this standard of work keeps getting sent out to sites around the country it's gonna cause problems for lots of people. It's a design problem I feel. The people who are creating the product have very little hands on experience. This leads to big problems when products arrive on site. The cables don't f...

I have recently done some filming for On The Tools and CEF. This is to investigate the tools that I use every day. Tools that I could do my job without. #cable #cablejointer #cablejointing #electrical #electrician

Not enough space for a lot of big cable
มุมมอง 6K2 หลายเดือนก่อน
Recently I have been asked to finish a job that someone else had started. The cables were glanded whilst the cable gang were on site. This aided them getting the cables into such a tight space. They then realised to their horror at the limited space they had to finish the terminations. When I arrived on site they asked if I could complete the task. I said it wasn't going to be easy but that I'd...
How far do you travel for work?
มุมมอง 1K2 หลายเดือนก่อน
Most of us have to travel.some distance to get to work. Some really lucky people get to work from home and I think that must be amazing. This is my journey, which I'll be completing in one go, barring a toilet stop and getting some diesel before I get too far in. #cablejointer #cablejointing #electrical #cable #electrician #bigcables #travel #vanlife

I was working in London measuring a job and then I had to drive to Edinburgh. I thought it would be a good idea to drive the entire length of the A1 as I'd never done that before in 28 years of motoring. I filled it in with some stories about the history of the road and some of my own experiences on it. #cablejointer #cablejointing #electrical #cable #electrician #travel
How much did I earn for a Saturday night shift?
มุมมอง 5K2 หลายเดือนก่อน
This video isn't about bragging and showing off. I've uploaded it to outline the importance of your time and how you manage it. I didn't want to do the job on a Saturday night because of how it impacted my family time. The Sunday was spent mainly sleeping (until3.30pm). Don't lose sight of the fact you have a voice and are incredibly important. Your employer shouldn't ever be able to pressure y...

Sometimes you do jobs that you can't believe are real😂😂😂 This job saw me install multiple cables with tails of 10m . I filmed the biggest one just to give you an idea of the time it took. The video is slightly edited with some bits taken out and others sped up but it gives a representation of the impact that these designs have on a job and the time it takes to complete. The cable is glanded int...
Some vintage tools I acquired recently!

You can't whack old tools I'll never use them but they look so much cooler than new stuff. I'll probably make a little display in the shed. I might give the drill a go with a better drill bit in it though. It doesn't have reverse and I doubt it has a clutch so I hope I don't break my wrist😂😂😂 #cablejointer #cablejointing #electrical #electrician #cable #jointech #oldtools #vintagetools #stanley...

What happens if you double up on the busbars per phase but the cable length per phase differs in length…. Like your L3 might be longer than L1 cause the cable entry is more towards L1 side and then cable 2 enters more towards the L3 side making your L1 length longer on cable 2 than on cable 1?
Youre only talking a few inches maximum, i dont reckon it would cause that much disparity.
Just get it done! Reminds me of a an alcoholic supervisor who looked like something out of LOTR great guy, rubbish super. 😂
"Can you just"... words no-one ever wants to hear!
Normally on a friday isnt it🤣🤣
@@jointechcabling9103 Why its only 2 inches on the map on your way home
I definitely would have gone back down for my voltage tester to make sure them bars were dead 😂
I hadnt connected the mains downstairs so i knew they were dead. 🤣🤣🤣
The reason I hate bolting banjos so much is because unless you’re terminating into a plastic housing, they’re fucking pointless! To prove a point, I once tested the resistance between swa and earth bar with and without banjo… Would you like to guess how much of a difference it made? 😂
On a side note, for smaller cables, storm glands are great as the earth nuts are designed to bite into metal housing therefore no need for banjo! 🪕
"They care more about the batteries than they do the workforce" 😓 😰 😎 😂
Me every 10 minutes 8:57
"just" is a weasel word. People only every say it to make things sound more acceptable or easy than they are. Case in point: "Just" stop oil. Obviously that'll be easy too.
You say they care more about batteries - I know of a hospital that has spent about 20 grand in total replacing ups batteries that died from the heat, but refused to spend 3 grand for air con to stop the replacements from facing the same consequences! The next year, you can guess what happened….
there is nothing as a 5 min job
You forgot the vacuum to clean everyting up.
Tony. why dont you use heatshrink sleeving on the lugs rather than tape?
Probably because you would have to carry a heat gun and extention cord up there aswel
Client preference. I dont supply any gear just labour.
Problem is the managers have never done the job, they are clueless.
And a day without all the unneeded PPE is a Bonus😊
Just go and do that job. It'll only take you 10 minutes That sentence is up there with Dont worry, the guys onsite will sort that out. Little thumbs up Tony.
Good to see Emu getting a day out!
It was a guy,Willis Carrier,he's known as the Father of air-conditioning...The more you know!!😉
The Makita battery vacuum must have been out of shot for all of that swarf 😊
You do like to moan 😝😂 I'm amazed you don't have a voltage tester and proving unit to ensure the panels and cables are dead. I know some have to be locked out before you can remove the cover, but some are just bus chambers. No torque wrench for correct tightening of the bolts/lug? I very rarely take the mimimum amount/type of tools, sods law you will need something else. 😕 Ps - Nice use of a vacuum to clean up 😉
Same story not Sparks ,no real understanding of theory and therefore the task.
Those little bob in there jobs are usually given on top of a days work you already have, only the other day this 5 minute job took me nearly two hours lol
Every manager thinks every job is a 5 minute job
I'm fed up with it TBH
Willis Carrier invented AC you can still see his surname on refrigeration equipment today …mainly refrigerated transport now
I'd just like to say that I put all my banjo screws in myself. And file my own unistrut too. The way you were talking about putting the covers on the panel, I take it that it wasn't live?
It wasnt live. We're turning it on today. If they can get the generator running for the shut down.
What batteries and adapters are you using?
Its a dewalt flexvolt. I ordered the adaptor from ebay.
U should make a web site an list all your tool.
Hey buuuudy!

Great work! Very skilled and interesting to watch!
Well thats 3:22 mins I'm not getting back. Many thanks Tony 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂❤❤
So relaxing I fell asleep🛌Thanks Tony.
I think you had much fun.
send the video to the company along with an invitation for their designers to attand the cabling of their products.
It's good to know that I'm not the only idiot around. 😂😂😂😂
I've been saying this for years, the people designing these things should field test their products...OR, here is an idea, get a sparks in during R&D to point out ways of making things easier for the guys on site!!
Nice jop
Not sure I would like to live there, but trains being unreliable aside, always find the place interesting.
Ah yes a good old class 387 “Electrostar” electrical multiple unit, yes I know my trains 😂😂😂😂
Neck Oil and Brixton..........2 of my go-to's........ as I mature! 👍 Lived in London for a bit during my 20's, but the appeal and novelty wore off after about 18 months, and I headed back to my rural roots of Dorset / Devon.
How come you get this work in London? Are there not sparkies in London?
Tony's a one man band. A firm who does what he does would charge probably 1.5x the cost, atleast.
@@Walktheline1991 thanks for the reply. He must have a really good reputation being called down to work on hotels in London.
You can keep the place for me Tony, I used to enjoy heading down and working there, but these days, just a pain in the arse. Hopefully you get the job.
Those seats on the train look comfortable 🙄😁
Another neat little video.
so, who's stealing the tools? could we narrow it down to a certain ethnic group?
Those cuts are to small
Graduates with no practical experience. This is the problem.

I sold all my makita as a bundle when I decided to upgrade to Milwaukee. The amount of messages I got with interest on Facebook marketplace was insane, I got well over 60-70 messages when it was all said and done and that was just for a week. This shows the demand though, there are so many people who will do it. I ended up selling them all to a guy who was partially disabled but wanted a set of kit to do DIY at home, had a family and kids etc. There was a LOT of low ballers of a specific demographic
Ohh the usual suspects 🤨
Hey Ynot You have hit the nail on the head. Have said this myself for years. If people don't buy them at sales etc there won't be a demand or Market for them. Stop the demand and the thefts will stop. Who do the people who buy them think they are fooling. "Oh look at my new second hand drill. Don't mind the scratches where serial numbers should be or somebody's initials scraped in " Tools stolen here in Ireland are heading to Europe and UK and the stuff that's robbed in UK and elsewhere end up here . Bonkers. Keep up the good work.
not a big fan of those makitas. I had one burn out the same way after making 2 holes in drywall
