You have hit the nail on the head. Have said this myself for years. If people don't buy them at sales etc there won't be a demand or Market for them. Stop the demand and the thefts will stop.
Who do the people who buy them think they are fooling. "Oh look at my new second hand drill. Don't mind the scratches where serial numbers should be or somebody's initials scraped in "
Tools stolen here in Ireland are heading to Europe and UK and the stuff that's robbed in UK and elsewhere end up here .

I sold all my makita as a bundle when I decided to upgrade to Milwaukee. The amount of messages I got with interest on Facebook marketplace was insane, I got well over 60-70 messages when it was all said and done and that was just for a week. This shows the demand though, there are so many people who will do it. I ended up selling them all to a guy who was partially disabled but wanted a set of kit to do DIY at home, had a family and kids etc. There was a LOT of low ballers of a specific demographic
