Difficult? It was a little bit!

- Difficult situations call for ingenious solutions!!
This job took a lot of working out and a lot of suggestions before this one was believed to be the best one.
It took some working out and although it was a pain in the arse, I'm happy with how it worked out.
This was filmed in May and it was very cold, but that's what you get from the north east of England. I should know, I spent 36 years there, not in Sunderland but not far away.

I recognise that carpark from the steel cladding. Nice to see someone who gives a shit about how the finished job looks, nice work.
Loved the whispering voice overs! "and hear we see the lesser spotted bearded cable wrangler in his natural environment, fighting with the unwieldy and unforgiving snake and finally overcoming it"
The voice reminded me instantly of Fred Dibnah.
"And once he's finished having a slash; he gets on with the work" 😂
How come they ran the swa past the beginning and not feed the bus track from the other end saving cable?
Tony, that was a brilliant video. This real world problems content is brilliant. You chatted to me in 2021 when I was first starting to terminate big armoureds and your advice was invaluable and has really helped me move forward in my career. Happy New Year fella, keep it coming
I consider myself a good spark and pretty experienced with big swa but you are a master mate.
Cheers bud. It's taken a long time to learn it🤣🤣
Man you guys love your armoured cables. Here in Australia we would use non armoured cables which are a heap easier to work with, and then install duct cover onto the ladder to protect any cables below 2 meters. I do like the protection Armoured gives you, how ever it looks like such a pain to work with.
Well done Tony!! Them 240’s are hard enough without the small enclosure space to work with. It just would not have worked without the extension box!! I know you said it wasn’t your best job but it still looked bloody great. Well done
Great video 👍
Thanks for taking the time to film the work you do I know it's a lot of effort to film and edit let alone your principle job!
Thumbs up
Top job! Made it look easy. I remember making off 2x 240mm cables in parallel and it gave me sleepless nights 😂
Great job as usual.
I enjoyed that- thankyou.
Great job as usual, especially given the tray layout and other fittings. Love watching your videos Tony, great to see inside some of these industrial type installations; keep it up!
As Usual top job you should send this video to the designers of the carpark to show them what a bad design does to create extra work on the ground for guys like you that have to make it work, well done sir
Always happy to see a new video of bigger cables and looking forward to seeing more backlog vid Tony. Even as a perfectionist, only a handful of people (2-3) people will ever look in that box (except all of us of course!) and be able to guess how much effort went into it. Great job mate!
Brilliant video, looked impossible did that, top job 👏🏽 keep it up
Well done Tony, that was an impressive job. Especially when it was cold and it is like wresting an anaconda.
Sweet Jesus that’s ridiculous how you managed to get a 240 to bend like that fair play to ya lad some graft!
Well done I felt cold just watching that.
Lovely stuff. How you manipulate those 4 core 240s is genius. Keep them coming.
Amazing work ! You really know solutions for every complicated situation 👑, but sometimes you can use an extra hand XD.
You did an amazing job on that. Never any thought for the person terminating.
Thease designers never think off the jointer it looks great on a computer screen but were the poor feckers wrestling it in 😂😂great work as always 👍
Top job as always Tony, bloody good job you hit the gym regularly buddy🙂.
Hard graft on your own that shag! As an ex-board lad I wouldn’t dream of even attempting owt like that without having a mate with me 🤣
Love the strapping idea, I'll be using that in the future, hopefully I'll leave less claret on site😂😂😂
Kinda makes you wonder wtf we aren’t using tri rated rubber insulated cables instead of swa,, the cable is up on ladder rack isn’t going get damaged and you can always lid ladder rack if wanted…we struggle with swa far to much 😮 could set the ladder rack up closer to the extension boxes so you had less of a set in the cable and it be supported further along its length..yet again you made a pig of a job look easy. 😁😁😁 think the install could of been designed a lot better ..😊😊
Who TF designs 240s into that tiny tiny box? They should be made to come out and _give you a hand_
I had to install 6 or 7 of those schneider bus bars for EV chargers with 4x185 aluminum cables that had Cca rating sheathe, hard as rock. It was a parking garage as well. I fantasized about those extension boxes and broke my arms bending those cables into place. Mind you I installed those cables without that extension box! I thought they didn't even exist and asked my boss about it but he just shrugged it ahahahaha! It seemed impossible even though I was working with 185 aluminum. Those extension boxes make it seem super easy. Worst 3 days I ever spent struggling with those trying to crimp the lugs and make the connections solid. Awful, simply awful.
what regs cover massive armoured cable that the public can reach out and touch? no enclosures nothing just ladder rack is fine?
So lots of explody battery cars charging in an enclosed space.
What could go wrong?
Just a big bang waiting to happen, If it does they'll just shrug and say we can't predict every problem.
luton car park, inferno two point oh
ah mate this is brilliant - thanks for taking the time to video it! so how hard is it to use the exhaust pipe cutters to ring the armoured? Can you feel it cut?
Had your work cut out on that one. Excellent work
Awesome videos pal what are you using to ring the armouring on the cables please
Excellent workmanship as usual, however that must be the worst design I've ever seen!!
Thanks bud. Trust me, this was about the 8th idea that was suggested. Designers...robbing a living.
Well done Tony , even though it looked a complete pain in the arse , watching it you’re very calm and methodical and actually made it “look easy” in the end , hats off to put that away on your own . Love how you never shy away from any job and look like you seem to relish the challenge 😂
Great content pal
Any preference of Exhaust Cutters, or is it pretty much a consumable so whatever is stocked wherever?
I got mine from euro car parts, I think they still sell them.
How is the new van going? Warm enough?
Excellent work as ever! How come you are using the weedy wire Tirfor winch instead of the mini chain block (I’ve just bought one having talked to you at the NEC CEF show, another life changer thanks )
Ignore that, I’ve just seen the chain block 😅
Hahaha I just needed lots of pulling implements because it was really awkward
…… and for those of you watching in Black & White, the Pink ball is just behind the Yellow….
Another case of design world not being suitable for real world, good that you made it work though, some bending radius on that 400 mm2 though 😂😂
You was a little bit lucky, because cable cores it could be twisted with 180 degrees (brown colour to be where grey is now, black to blue etc etc...) and in that situation you should been crossing brown and grey to connect at busbar, wich could not be so well.
Tell you what it’s a good thing that you have a bit of meat on you with handling conductors that size 😊
Noticed that the galv conduit isn’t even threaded, instead its that conloc stuff😢
With some jobs you need more patience than you do skill. Nice use of the pvc shieth to act as an edging trim. If I had to be super critical, I would say the grey could have done with a tighter bend and it would have looked neater to put the gland on the other side (nearer the outer wall). But great work 👍
95 amp cable = meaty!
😂 quality comment
Is 240mm the size of the whole cable or is it the individual cores?
4x 240. So each core is 240mm/sq
@@badrobert71thanks for the confirmation I myself wondered this not being a sparky.
I’m going to be a real dick now Tony; did you take into account the prescribed bending radius on the cores whilst terminating. 😂😂😂 all the best.
What an absolute shitshow 🤦🏻♂️😂 surely should have been done with singles 😂
