- After a long drive (6hrs 15mins) through the night I got to Muirhouse in the north of Edinburgh.
My van had failed it's MOT so I had to take the wife's car and stay in a hotel. I was in the premier Inn in Leith.
The shawarma house was incredible!!! I would definitely recommend it if you live close or are in the area for work g.co/kgs/xWKLqC
it's on Groathill Road, just incase the link doesn't work.

I really enjoy your videos.
So informative.
Every day is a school day!
Many thanks.
Keep up the good work.
Let's have more 👍🙏
Yeah, watch out for the teenager gangs around there. They are trying to regenerate and clean up the area, but the gangs have been known to smash up the shops literally next door to the police station, and occasionally have attacked a cop that was there alone.
Your videos are great, explaining how you do the job with a lot of pride in your work. It's not just people in your trade, others can learn from it as well, to appreciate what goes into a good clean job.
Thanks for the comment. Very nice words and some good advice.
Great tips Tony, every day's a learning day, and you've got to be naive if you think you know it all. 👍
Wow I am impressed how you deal with those cables. My old workplace had all the wiring replaced. Old stuff was from the 1930s and converted to modern. I was amazed how the really thick cables got from the truck all in the places. They had a big team come in one Friday 6pm to blitz the place so it was all working on Monday. We even had a huge backup generator put in too. Best wishes.
Nice work Tony. Little thumbs up
When that final step off a ladder isn't where your foot expects it, 4" suddenly feels like 18"
Awesome video Tony! Those step ladders are a death trap, you nearly break your neck attempting to get on them! As far as the last two cables you made off, I definitely think that I would never manage to do it. You’re a total legend mate, keep up the great work!!👍👍👍
Every day’s a schoolday Tony. Not really within my scope of work but still love watching and learning and some of your tips could translate to other stuff. I’ve done 5C240s in the past but that’s about the limit and it’s hard graft. You’re a craftsman pal and a pleasure to watch.
I'm glad you're enjoying the vids. 5cx240s are awful things.
Is right Tony! All the best tradesmen have a growth mindset, no egos . We only come to work to pay the bills at the end of the day. Keep up the good work and content
Always great to see your videos Tony, and as always great tips for people at all levels.
Everyday you learn top tip
Nice one! Should have swung by Glasgow - home of your favourite switch and I'd have bought you a pint or 10
I want some merch Tony love your vids mate 👍 little thumbs up.
I am an old sparky and I still learn some tips from you👍
No BS REALIST, love it too right my man bugger the nay sayers like you said there are people who are starting out ie apprentices and they would find this video so informative from an established sparkie like yourself too many people feed into the shit pot and love to stir it with no repurcussions like the keyboard warriors .....keep doing what you are doing man great content from a sound individual 💪💪😁😁
Nice bit of ‘scrap’ on those 120mm tails there 😂
Each to their own Top tip dude👍
Not everyone knows everything is exactly right. Its quite often the guys who think they know everything who fuck things up. Theres always something different to learn or get better at. In life and at work.
Heroin capital of Europe back in the day Muirhouse was, some place
Nobody knows as much as "all of us". Everyday is a learning day and I’m 67 FFS!
Very rough part of Edinburgh unlucky dude 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I’m a spark in Edinburgh, it would’ve been a pleasure to meet you mate, that job is near my in-laws house 😂 I’d love a sticker mate, I’ll trade you for one!
Yup great kebab shop.
That’s rough that part of Edinburgh mate they will steal the skin of your shite if not nailed down
😂😂😂😂 I never saw any trouble but it is quite deprived. They're building new stuff around there but I hope it doesn't get "gentrified" like london
Who specs 70mms with 4 inch trunking 😢
no one is an expert when they are a beginner, and everyone is a beginner at the start
Whats the minimum bend radii on the cores? Is it 4x or 6x major axis? So a 70mm would need atleast 280mm or 420mm, so trunking gotta be atleast 300mm wide or 500mm wide?
Minimum internal redius forFiber Optic is 15x so a 70mm bundle would need 1050mm internal + 70 + half the gland.
I always work on x7. That way it's extremely manageable and nothing gets damaged. Unfortunately cost tends to get in the way of a good install.
You should put your stickers underneath the main switches where you've terminated
5:00 Welcome to the SNP's Scotland. At least the view over Newhaven Harbour looks nice 🙂
