My theatre just announced that our main stage group is doing that show and we are going to be the first theater in our town to do the junior version!! so far I have heard that the only song that got cut was “hard to be the bard”

Hello! You may not read this, but I figured this is a question we could all use (especially me): How do you calm jitters the night before to stay well rested, and ready to perform?

I’m doing hadestown teen edition at a company here and i’m auditioning for orpheus. The crew so far loves me a ton. Ive played guitar for almost 9 years and have the exact vocal range for the role, I can’t wait for my final audition!!!!

as someone that wants to play lord farquaad (my dream role), i would barely sing, since they cut ballad of farquaad and barely singing in whats up duloc (also they changed the wolfs line bc its inappropriate for schools)

I tried out for Donkey and Gingy in Shrek Jr., and I ended up getting mama bear. I’m very upset, but I’ve been trying to look at the bright side. Although I was casted as Mama Bear, I was also casted go be a featured dancer. I’m going to try to embrace my role and not complain so that my directors take consideration of me for my next musical. Thank you for this video. It really made me feel better! 🩷

My school this year did a production of “10 ways to survive the zombie apocalypse” so there were 4 “survivors” in the cast, but we made 2 groups so 4 survivors. Then that way if someone couldn’t do the show we’d understudy that way. Like you would go in for your counterpart of the other group.

I have an audition in around 2 weeks and I’m so scared! In my previous experiences with auditioning for stuff I get really shakey and feel like I’m about to pass out. Do any of you have any tips to help cope or stop me from doing that?

This is... just a few months after you posted this, but my local theatre is doing Legally Blonde next year and I'm hoping to audition for either Elle or Enid Hoops. Are there any songs you think would work with both? Or maybe just Enid?

Musical theatre and singing have saved me from depression i will forever be grateful and i practice everyday. I’m going to a 3week camp studying musical theater, i hope i land a good role, the only thing I’m confident in is my singing though…

I really want a lead roll but I've only done one other play and people said I did amazing and I really stood out from everyone else.....I want to get a lead so bad! And my last roll I had to switch rolls last minute like I only had like a month to learn a lot of lines.....and we all had like 5 months to practice....so thanks for the tips!

I’m singing What I Did For Love from A Chorus Line. Anyone who’s familiar with that musical knows that the song is a response to a question posed by the guy hosting the audition. So where should I look in that case?

It’s okay if you don’t respond but I have a theater question. So my school did Seussical and I do these theater camps and we put on a production in one week. One of the camps is Seussical. We always put on this little sheet are experience and I don’t know if I should put that I have already done the show Seussical. I don’t want make it look like they don’t need to give me a good role because I already did it(I was a bird girl and I’m hoping to get jojo) but I want them to know I have experience for the show. What do you think I should do??

As someone who as performed in the jr and proper version of legally blonde i can safely say as fun as the jr version is, the proper one really goes into a lot more depth

i was an "understudy" in my chorus classs (idk if that counts) and it was super disappointing she had me audition around 5 times, told me how good i was blah blah and i didnt get to ever did it plus when it was the concert she kinda sucked

I love theatre but I don't know if I'm in it for the right reasons. I don't care about being in the spotlight, fame or money. I just want to have those amazing experiences that come with participating in something so wild and whimsical as theatre. Is that a loose motivation? Because that's what I shoot for. Not just the spotlight (in fact, I don't much care for the spotlight at all) but the experience of being somebody, adapting to a scripted adventure, and living to tell the tale and enjoy the beauty of theatre throughout my life.

As a person who has never acted, I can confirm that these are useful steps.

I personally agree with key difference 4. Especially for me when I went to high school from middle school, I could also feel the sense of play fading away as it slowly became more of a competition sort of. Therefore, I feel like it is just life when high schoolers lose that sense of play b/c they start to realize how the real world is mostly about competition.

Would it be bad if I sang someone here over the rainbow for my Wizard of Oz audition? I don’t want them to think I’m trying to hint I want Dorothy?
