Starship Simulator

เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 25 มี.ค. 2021
Welcome to Starship Simulator, a deeply immersive space exploration sandbox that combines fully simulated, realistically designed starships with a full-scale Milky Way galaxy, driven by real astrophysics. Watch the stars drift by in real-time as you venture out into the vast unknown reaches of space, all while quietly sipping a drink in your starship's luxurious officer's lounge.
This project is a marriage of our two greatest passions; nerding out over the design and engineering of massive space vessels, and gazing up to the heavens at night, wishing we could explore those tiny points of light to see what's really out there.

Thank you for adding this content, I literally had no idea how in-depth these processes are and the time you techs take on every detail. The Project looks amazing.
dream game lets go, I pray this project goes well and gets released
I literally buying a computer just to play this game
How about some conversational AI, that gets fed with news about the ship, tasks that NPC did, generated info and personality, so you can socialize with the crew and maybe almost make friends. If one dies, it will be emotional to the player. I'd love if the ship was modular, so you can customize the entire thing, even adding rooms, weapon bays, hangars...
I absolutely support the placing of cannabis plants! Especially in the med bay/sickbay!
Will there be a gamemode where one of the crew members are agents that have to disrupt the ship and cause chaos? Sorta like a ss13 inspired gamemode. Also im talkin like after the game is released and the main gameplay loop is finished.
Yes they do have that mechanic coming.
Hello, I was shocked to discover Starship Simulator by accident. Right now, I am 62 62-year-old deaf man and hardcore gamer. I used to play Eve and other stuff like Stellaire for years before I burned out. I did play Demo Starship for an hour, that I am so impressed. I like that sandbox. I will be following up on your dev progress.
Your gonna have to probably move some of the seating that runs through the cargo route or cut the route so passengers don’t see workers pushing it through
Did you forget to upload? Last update is from June 1st
Funny, I was just wondering (had to pause the stream) where those screams were coming from. Thought it was our neighbors...except it was 8 PM so I thought something was wrong. lol
Not sure if this on the road map, but it would be really cool to pick up alien delegates then transport them to a planet for a conference. Even have a VIP conference room on the ship to accommodate these delegates where they could host meetings.
Hey man, what a great job! Do you hire people? I'm a 3d generalist currently focusing on Houdini, UE5 and AI. and looking for a job. Cheers
Hi, could you email me your CV at claire.govier@fleetyard.co.uk Thanks :)
Hi, YouToube is pretty much broken for me for a few days now. Every time i pause a video it will play until its cache is empty and than i have to reload the page a few times till it runs again. This might be caused by a blocker on my side or not. I do not care as YT is the only service that has trouble to function. And i am not here to suck up stupid commercials. Would be great if you could mirror your streams over to Odysee. A lot of YToubers do this these days. Makes life much more easy.
with a plane you dont have a stiff dock to the entrance either, right? or a ship. You have a flexible part on the side in case of a plane. Maybe you could think of some flexible docking part. like you could have a stiff docking part like ISS, but then the bridge to cross from a station to the ship has joints like a cable support with a pressurised tubing going through as the cable so to say.
The amount of details and attention you poured into the spaceship design is very impressive! I also love the fact you can just fly to other stars without the kind of loading screen we have in Elite and No Man's Sky. I would love to read about of the technical details, but I also understand if the secret sauce must remain secret ^^
Unreal 5 right? Uevr mod compatibility!
We've had a few people try it out in UEVR. We'll have native VR in ASAP
Very much looking forward to this coming online. This is exactly what ive been waiting to see and watching hundreds of games come out over the years that i thought might be what i was hoping for and being let down. THIS is what ive always pictured in my head. Thanks for all the great work yoire doing!
If any “would be” indie game dev is thinking about creating a real commercial game this series of streams will open their eyes on the skills, knowledge and dedication needed to get their game started. Great insight into a indie game dev’s experience.
Thank you <3
Ive watched a handful of these videos, and I dont understand whats going on. is this game going to be this complex to play when its out? or is this him crreating and working on finishing the game?
It's the creating (and designing) phase of the game and there is still a long way to go, at least an additional year, before a "final" version will be released. These videos are meant to show how a (standalone) programmer is working, not the actual gameplay.
@@gehteuchnixan8256 I wasnt judging, or trolling I just didnt understand if I understood correctly. Im very excited for the idea of a new space game. will people be able to assist and not everyone have their own ship if its MP, its like almost every game I find forces me to pilot and captain, i cant just help out on someone elses ship.
The main premise is that you are a crew member on board 1 ship and everyone will join that ship but there are different roles like scientists and security and engineers
Amazing!!
When can we expect an update of the demo? I've been looking forward to the new features
Essentially the main blocker right now is getting the sensors UI finished and polished, with planetary scanning fully working. As soon as that work is all done, a demo update can go out. There's a lot of work to do in the background to generate the life data in the galaxy, so it's going to be a few more weeks yet.
The new ship is looking amazing!
Thanks! :D
If I ever get this game (I always dreamt of game like this) I would want my missions to be serious--a real simulator.
If I ever get the opportunity to own a copy of this, I want a ship dedication plaque that says, “‘Give me a fast ship, for I will fly into harm’s way.’ ~John Paul Jones, paraphrased”
Greatest moment of this stream is at 40:28. Dan is great!
Thats so great to see you work on the ship. And at the same time i can walk inside the same half finished ship. That is a whole new level of iii-mm-öö--rshen 😁👍👍
Another great stream. Really love watching the replays of these as I cant make the live ones. Hopefully in the next stream Kiwi Dave can supply a link to HIS ground breaking game. ;)
This is absolutely magnificent! I love it!
88 Keys is the way a Keyboard should be~
Release that giant D ship under a different name eh.
An idea I had (not sure how hard it would be to code) for a great feature would be making all display screens touch capable. Using the mouse can be a bit cumbersome to get pointer precisely where you need it, and in some cases affects FPS.
I only found out about this game a couple weeks ago but I am fully redirecting my stream courtesy of this game. I find what you are making to be very inspirational and will simply be flying around the milky galaxy until I can make more immersive content with crew members. I am slowly building my crew from fellow Dual Universe players that I have known for months or years who are jaded from playing a game that has been all but abandoned by the devs. I am currently playing the part of the lonely ship captain who is in charge of too much ship and not enough crew. I spend a lot of time staring wistfully out of windows.
I am on a lonely journey towards Sagittarius A* right now with an estimated 23 hours and .3 hours remaining. Regards, Captain Larkin NSFW White Star Will be paying for Commodore Access on Ko-Fi in a few days. I had a few unexpected expenses.
A piano should have 88 keys.
As a musician myself, I have been WAITING for the opportunity to play that piano! x
I appreciate the dedication :)
Ive always wanted a sort of “Star Trek” Simulator. This seems to be the closest attempt at that, that I have ever seen. Nice work! I hope it works out and I can’t wait to play the final product
Any chance of adding bearings and headings in to navigation and helm? It might be more rewarding to steer manually if you can tell what angles things are relative to yourself, or your own angle relative to the galactic center and plane. It might also be worth separating Navigation in to a separate station from Sensors. The sensor station could be using a selection of different types of sensors to gather different information. Like an infrared sensor to provide a list of contacts, then an "FTL Radar" to get bearings, headings, and velocities, then a spectrometer to get specific information like class of star or planet, or type of ship. The navigator can then either select from this list of sensor contacts or from star charts in order to lay in a course for the helm to then execute. (This list of sensor contacts could also be fed in to the Tactical station for combat situations.)
I noticed in the engine startup module that if you don't follow the way points exactly, A.V.A. will not activate the next task. There are two sets of stairs starting on F Deck and as I just used whatever one to get to the Bridge, I had to go all the way back to F Deck and retrace the steps following the way point. That's a weird mechanic for that particular module.
We have a lot of people who need a slow tutorial, with very specific instructions, to be able to learn the functions and their way around. You can press 'enter' to skip, or 'backspace' to go back a step. Those will be put on the tutorial soon.
Exact same thing happened to me, I got to the bridge and stood there for like five minutes before I figured it out
thanks for sharing this series with us truly awesome
This ship could replace Star Citizen of you play your cards correctly. My stream will likely be dedicated to it shortly once we have most of the ship to RP in. Regards, Captain Larkin NSFW White Star
Game* (not ship)
Could we get the ability to change the emblem of the ship on the floor of the bridge?
Custom Uniforms (specifically, custom garment/department colors) would be hot as well. The fact that you can change the registry number's format and even the starship prefix suggests these ships might not be all part of a singular military fleet, but rather an array of pseudo-paramilitary groups with their own codes, rules etc, maybe operating as subcontractors to the overarching Space Navy.
Thank you very much for the hard work you put into Starship Simulator.
This game is designed to be extremely addictive because of lots of things to explore. Infinity out of 10 for me. Can't wait to play this and get hooked into this more than I spent time creating digital products.
This should be an MMO so a whole crew can work together to operate a ship.
It doesn't need to be an MMO for that :) The whole point of this game is to have a whole group running the ship together. Multiplayer is already in game :)
This is truly an incredible undertaking. I've been exploring the starship, and WOW you all have put a lot of passion into this. I know there is a lot more to be fleshed out, but what you have thus far in the demo is a work of art. Once you have fully released this to the public, I will definitely being buying it! One thing I hope will be coming soon is optimization. 30 or 60 FPS is giving me only 11 to 13. Whether graphics are high or low it is still the same result. Other than that, bravo on a heck of a simulation!!!!
