It's not just Camborne, and nearby Redruth. Falmouth has the image of yuppie yachts, beaches and designer flats, cafes and hotels but the reality is that Falmouth is also very poor outside of the tourist bubble, and still one of the poorest places in the country. This problem has been going on for DECADES but Cornwall County Council does nothing except promote the holiday visitor stuff which doesn't actually benefit the average Cornish person at all. Most of that money ends up in the hands of investors far away.

Why we’re putting illegals in hotels when there’s so many empty houses they could put them in? They keep saying there’s a housing shortage but there’s plenty that could be fixed up instead of building on the countryside.

Cosmetically the state of penrhys is down to Rct not up keeping the site , the guy on the bike does not live up here haha, people off site are the ones who come up to fly tip and use balloons, may not look the best but you will never find a community that will come together like they do up there

Try doing your research before making a video about a place that is the old boiler house not community centre. Also Penrhys is in the process of a massive regeneration project where the houses are all being knocked down and rebuilt for new modern houses along with new amenities. Why have you not actually spoken to any off the people that actually live in Penrhys??

before making a video of penrhys make sure you state the correct facts about penrhys.. ie rubbish side of the flat that was a rubbish day collection. that fire burning that wasn't in penrhys. them gas bottles by the boiler house that people coming up from off site doing. you want get a community like our.

I really enjoy Turd towns and loved the Bristol one you did. I think you've missed a trick on this one though. There is so much history of stupidity and failures surrounding Penrhys which clearly are still there. Starting with the shared single boiler system for all houses which failed dramatically, leading to lots of empty houses on top of mine closures. Then councils send their most difficult benefit cases there. These were marooned there because it was stuck at the top of an almost un walkable hill and shit transport. It's just disaster after disaster. However as you seen there is an amazing strength in the majority of the community in the valleys despite the anti social minorities

Unless you live here, you don't get to have an opinion. Don't believe all the things you read. The boiler house was never used as a community centre. Anything to do with the top of the site comes from people off site taking the piss, doing their drugs and leaving their rubbish. I no longer live in penrhys myself but would move back in a heart beat, the way all the community comes together is incredible, it's like a big family. They all look after eachother. It's in such a state because the council refuse to help and move people out of their homes just to leave the houses rot. Just this passed bonfire night the community came together to put on a firework display and a big bonfire which resulted in over 1000 people onsite and off site attending. There was no funding for this, this was all funded by the residents who took part in putting it on. Articles just want to show the bad of the community but never ever ever show the best side of it. Infuriates me.

I came here thinking I was going to be disgusted with the state of Bournemouth, but surprisingly I feel the opposite. The whole of the UK is in a state, yet Andy and his team bring hope to those who are homeless and vulnerable, and there seems to be an enormous amount of community support which has been lost over the years. This was a real insight into community spirit, one which we could all learn from. Well done

I'm 37 and within my adult life Bournemouth was a very desirable town. Quite posh in places, very safe, a real family location. I knew some people from there who were very well off. I used to go there semi regularly and thought it much nicer than Southampton where i live. To be fair Southampton is shit now too.

I'm from penrhys lived there for 30years I live down tge hill now pontygwaith it was the best time of my life.wasnt like it is now as most of houses been knocked down.

Thanks for sharing Joe 🙏 As a local, living right next to Horseshoe Common, I see so much of this whenever I nip into the gardens or drive through Landsdown..it's tragic yet there are so many decent people who have had a hard ride and ended up in awful situations with no support :( Your video shows how and why they have got there and it's truly tragic.
