20 years ago while I was very very high I wild camped on the side of Glastonbury tor. I woke in the night in my tent to hear strange chanting outside. Some guy was chanting in the dark outside.... I heard him chant the name shiva and thought fair enough shiva isn't Satan so maybe he won't sacrifice me in the night.... In the morning I went outside and made breakfast and a big fattie. The guy was camping right outside my tent and hadn't seen my tent in the dark. He awoke and was a lil freaked out to see me.... Glastonbury! All normal there!
That's not weird it's... "normal for Glastonbury". 😉 The water at Chalice Well won't give you any problem at all. In fact, the thing to do is to bring a bottle and fill it half way from the white spring then full the rest up from the red spring which is just across the road!
I regularly visit. It’s a beautiful feeling just being there. People are so friendly. And they are welcoming of dogs. There’s a place not to far called Rockaway at Temple cloud I highly recommend you visit. It’s like a huge community of incredible people. That water is incredible. I used to collect and drink it regularly. It has no fluoride no oestrogen no cocaine which your vile tap water is full of
I was born in the town in the late 1950s and grew up there, a true Glastonian. I could tell you many tales about the town that you won’t find written down in all but a few places. Glad you enjoyed the place.

Glastonbury is one of my favourite places to visit. I've never been to the festival, I just go for the town and the tor, I love the atmosphere and all the quirky personalities. The town is so clean and full of gorgeous independent shops and cafés. I love the lamp shop, art shops and hemp shop as well as all the crystal and book shops of course. There is also so much to see in the surrounding areas x
I live just 20 miles from Glastonbury and have been through it many times. I feel it has become a commercialised touristy hub, nice place, crazy visitors and VERY expensive trinkets.
Yep, I grew up about 15 miles away and go back at least twice a year, and it’s almost become a parody of itself now. Some of the old interesting shops are still there, but there are so many other shops that are all filled with the exact same clothing brands for increasingly crazy prices. But, there are some great cafes and restaurants there as well!
I read the title and my mind went straight to Glastonbury.. drum circles in main roads.. signs by historical buildings asking people to keep their clothes on.. 😂 and not a Greggs in sight 👍
Went through there in the late 60s to go on the annual family holiday, not been since and still looks relatively the same.seems a friendly place, the land time forgot. These hippies are completely normal to what you saw in the 60s, then, long kaftan, bells around the neck,Indian sandals, cloth headbands and John lennon glasses and that was just the men and loads of afghan coats even in summer. My traditional boring dad nearly had a meltdown at the sight of them, calling them unemployable layabout students who would never get a job in the real world. Great video again Joe, you come across as such a chill guy and your rapport with the people you interview reflects that. Most people just think of Glasto as the festival place but it’s good to see the real town being highlighted. Keep up the good work 👍🏼
Amazing. Really want to go there. You fit in with Ben and his people so well. Very glad to see you now as part of them. Love the history, didn't know about the water! The fact you know about Joseph of Arimathea and his role is amazing. Also, legend has it he brought a young Jesus with him to England, and that's why the Celts converted so easily to Christianity when it came here.
Thanks for the kind words that's awesome to hear! I love history and feel that if people knew a little more of their local history they may be more inclined to care about their local surroundings. Thanks for watching
Butt close. Lol. Enjoyable jaunt around Glastonbury, there is certainly an aura & a "vibe" about the place I can't quite put my finger on. I can almost smell the pachouli oil. Whitby in Yorkshire has similar quirky vibe. Good to see the town at street level , lots of people may just pass by or quickly pass through, ecspecially during the festival. I can't really call myself a "hippy", but I have a bit of a soft spot for fairy tales etc. I've been called Pixie & Tinkerbell, so maybe I would fit in well at the ball. Some of those costumes are out of this world. Nice one👍
Glastonbury rocks and go alpacas! I live in London, wish Glasto was closer. Still, I visit at least three times a year, love chatting with the locals. Excellent vid, thank you ✨
It was raining terrible all day off and on it was such a struggle to film. I did head up but unfortunately it was chucking it down so I couldn't film. Will definitely do it on my return in the summer.
Such a lovely town full of wonderful people . The vibe is simply amazing and the people so welcoming If you visit try Timos cafe , especially on a Saturday night .
I like Glastonbury. Especially the George and Pilgrims pub, where's it rumoured Henry VIII was sat in watching the abbey burn. Always a positive vibe in that place, although the actual residents of Glastonbury aren't usually that keen on it!
i,m a local, the locals love the vibe an the alternative, what they don,t like is benchers openly taking drugs and pushing them on tourists!! Getting youngsters to pedal the drugs for them or the drinking binges until the early hours of the morning, or the violence that happens because of the benchers!!! Most of them don,t even come from Glastonbury! most druggies (benchers) use Glastonbury for its so called reputation of a free spirited town! yes in most ways it is but these few bring the place down!!
I like this type of video showcasing what's the significance of the place in history and what it has for tourists. Of course we travelled far to see interesting & historical sights because we wanted to relax and enjoy our trips. 👍
The Tor is the best thing in Glastonbury but most people can't be bothered to walk up there and just go shopping for tat in the town instead, the materialism of spirituality.
Many people regularly return to Glastonbury to depressurise from modern life. This report doesn't mention the beautiful natural Tor which overlooks the town. The views from the top are amazing and is said that ley lines run through the Tor.
I've always said I admire anyone that maybe dresses a little different or act a little different ( not acting nasty or committing crime ) I admire & have a lot of respect for them thatnthey don't care what others think or say. about them I find it brave I'm a little jelouse in a way wish there was more people like this as long as they don't hurt others well good on them. I've heard of the place Glasbonnie but never had a clue it was like this I think this is the best place I've ever seen fornits uneqness it would be a dream come true to visit. I bet the crime rate is very low I Feil it's because all these Wonderfull people are so a like and don't seem to have the personality to hurt anyone they just seem kind & happy good on all them for not carding how people would judge them ❤
Nice video Joe! I have been to Glastonbury, and just thought it was a bit odd! Will have to revisit! Have you been to Shrewsbury? Also a thriving town, well worth checking out!
We used to have a shop in Glastonbury, Colour of Sound if anyone remembers us. It’s a different place if you live and work there, more to it than you get from a casual visit. A lot is quite commercialised nowadays, but where isn’t…at least it’s fun and friendly. I miss it, never felt so much a part of things anywhere else. The water by the way is from two different sources, the red and white springs. The red is iron rich. Both much purer than anything from a tap! I used to use it for everything except bathing when I was there. If you visit again, go up the tor and also visit Chalice Well Gardens 😊
Dude seen so many videos of our crazy town but to be honest you have covered it so well. Well done really enjoyed it. I didn't go to the fairy thing as its not my thing but I was in the King William on that Saturday night and did meet a few strange people lol. Keep the coming like your content dude😎👍
Mate to hear that from a local is awesome 👍 thank you. Please share with anyone you feel will enjoy it, will certainly help me out. Thanks again for the kind words dude
Lived there for around ten years on and off, it's a dark place behind the fluffiness. Interestingly the white spring is actually from a resoviour within the tor, in 1997 they did tests and found it to be highly polluted with radon, so drink it with caution. Having said that, I have enjoyed my time living there
Sis in Law and nephew visit regularly from Weymouth. Go to some spring/cave place. Naked bathers have been seen there which they ignore and depart swiftly lol.
All too commercial for me. I remember the town when the Pilton festival now known as Glastonbury festival took place. Interesting how the hippies became so wealthy due to the upper middle classes with no intelligence and endless money from mater & pater changed this once spiritual town. It is all about money now. Glad I left when I did.
Adopted Glastofarian living a few fields away across the levels, love the place, don't find it weird at all, people are able to be themselves, the rest of the British Isles aren't able to say the same are they? Great video though and thanks for representing the town in a positive light.
Like wow man! We have a similar experience not far away in West Yorkshire called Hebden Bridge - a Northern Hippie Haven. I keep up to date with things via Glastonbury Gabriel's channel. I've been a few times, last time was for the festival in the 80's. I stayed after to clear up, so much trash for so many hippies who "love the Earth" - I think they've missed something. Many left full camping set ups, not cheap either! I go by works not words. For your edification I think you'll find that latter Romans brought "Christianity" to the UK in the late 3rd and early 4th century AD. Later was St. Columba 521 to 597ad who was said to bring "Christianity" to Scotland in the 6th century.

@@JoefishJ well I’m old enough to know better and I still love a childish joke. Check out Tittensore in the map that always makes me laugh!
I think that kind of weirdness is everywhere in Britain and Ireland. It is just more secret and not well known in a lot of other places.
A land of mystery and legend for sure! Thanks for watching and the comment
I myself am relieved at the comments referring to the water spring the water is much better for you than plastic coated pasturized apple juice ❤❤ stay woke
Thanks for watching 🙏 I hope you enjoy the content
How in the World did I miss THIS one?! This is GREAT! I so want to go to Glastonbury now. Great job, Joe! Jen
Hey my favourite Jen! Thanks so much for the support! Glasto is a crazy place, no where like it on earth! Thanks for watching and the kind words 🙏
thanks for sharing. wish more of the uk was like this, beautiful place.
Glad you enjoyed it thanks for watching and the comment. Hope you enjoy the content
Unfortunately most of the UK is full or tories!
Great video again Joe, you come across as such a chill guy and your rapport with the people you interview reflects that. Most people just think of Glasto as the festival place but it’s good to see the real town being highlighted. Keep up the good work 👍🏼
I appreciate that thank you for the kind words and for watching! Hope you enjoy the content
May appear to sparkle, but don't be fooled by bells and whistles. Sadly many unstable and ungrounded folk. The land is beautiful.
Butt close. Nice one👍
Haha yes the 'butt close' joke... First to mention that! Thanks for the kind words 🙏 glad you enjoyed the video!
Nice and positive
Thanks 🙏👍
Glastonbury rocks and go alpacas! I live in London, wish Glasto was closer. Still, I visit at least three times a year, love chatting with the locals. Excellent vid, thank you ✨
It certainly does!! Really awesome place. Thanks for watching and the comment
Berry's coaches cheap enough. Take almost 4 hours
Glastonbury is on the Heart Chakra of the Planet so very powerful energetically.
Yes a lot of talk of this! The ley lines... Thanks for watching and the comment
Thank you for such a lovely review of my home town really enjoyed it Steve
Glad you enjoyed it thanks for watching and the comment 👍
Glastonbury is amazing. Can't wait to go back! 🔮
A very crazy place! Thanks for watching and the comment
I live in Glastonbury...how did you not show the Tor 🤦🏻
It was raining terrible all day off and on it was such a struggle to film. I did head up but unfortunately it was chucking it down so I couldn't film. Will definitely do it on my return in the summer.
Such a lovely town full of wonderful people . The vibe is simply amazing and the people so welcoming If you visit try Timos cafe , especially on a Saturday night .
Awesome place with very friendly people. Thanks for watching and the comment. Hope you enjoy the content
I like Glastonbury. Especially the George and Pilgrims pub, where's it rumoured Henry VIII was sat in watching the abbey burn.
Always a positive vibe in that place, although the actual residents of Glastonbury aren't usually that keen on it!
Mental place... Bonkers experience, thanks for watching and the comment mate.
i,m a local, the locals love the vibe an the alternative, what they don,t like is benchers openly taking drugs and pushing them on tourists!!
I stayed in the town a few times and the energy is amazing, I felt euphoric the whole time, smiling and laughing with people.
A very strange and unique place for sure. Thanks for watching and the comment hope you enjoy the content
Very interesting, vlog mate. I been to Glastonbury backpacking during my college years 20years ago. Brings back good memories 😊. Thanks.
I like this type of video showcasing what's the significance of the place in history and what it has for tourists. Of course we travelled far to see interesting & historical sights because we wanted to relax and enjoy our trips. 👍
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching and the comment
One of my favourite places ❤❤❤❤
Definitely thanks for watching
Fantastic video Joe! Keep up the great work
Awesome thanks for the kind words
How do you find out what events are on in Glastonbury during the summer?
I'm not sure mate, maybe there's a Facebook group or something? Thanks for watching
Go to Glastonbury online and there’s lots listed. Or Glastonbury information centre.
The Tor is the best thing in Glastonbury but most people can't be bothered to walk up there and just go shopping for tat in the town instead, the materialism of spirituality.
I did head up but it was hammering it down like it was off and on all day. So unfortunately I couldn't film... Thanks for stopping by
This place is beautiful… I think I might have go to visit here asap
Stunning! Thanks for watching and the comment
Great place .visit you won't regret it.❤❤❤
Definitely!! Thanks for watching
Many people regularly return to Glastonbury to depressurise from modern life. This report doesn't mention the beautiful natural Tor which overlooks the town. The views from the top are amazing and is said that ley lines run through the Tor.
Seems to be a hub for a lot of people. Thanks for watching and the comment
I miss Glastonbury 😢 beautiful place, glad to see the high street hasn’t changed much
At around 2:40 - poor doggies! 😭
Didn't notice I'll take a look again...
Another great vid, thanks.
Even more subs, keep going.
All the best from Southend
Awesome thanks for the kind words and for watching! See you on the next one amigo
That place looks crazy, thanks for a good video.
The craziest!
What a beautiful place! My kind of town for sure!
It really is very beautiful and unique! Recommendations always welcome also, thanks for watching and the comment! See you on the next one
I bet the crime rate is very low I Feil it's because all these Wonderfull people are so a like and don't seem to have the personality to hurt anyone they just seem kind & happy good on all them for not carding how people would judge them ❤
Well you'd be in awe in Glastonbury. Utter madness at every turn! A very unique place thanks for watching and the comment
Nice video Joe! I have been to Glastonbury, and just thought it was a bit odd! Will have to revisit! Have you been to Shrewsbury? Also a thriving town, well worth checking out!
Awesome place do go and check it out! A really wacky day out. Thanks for watching and the comment
Right... I'm selling up and moving there lol - wish I could, my kinda people!
A very unique place for sure! Thanks for watching and the comment
Thanks for sharing your local insight. Thanks for watching and the comment
Having said that, I have enjoyed my time living there
Thank you for sharing i need to visit, haven't been here since i was a small child.
You should it's a crazy place. Thanks for watching
Sis in Law and nephew visit regularly from Weymouth. Go to some spring/cave place. Naked bathers have been seen there which they ignore and depart swiftly lol.
Naked bathers!! Yes apparently that's popular there. Thanks for watching and the comment
Thanks for the video, truly amazing place.
It really is bonkers! Thanks for watching and the comment
Many viewers have said the same thing.
I love the weird and wonderful.
You'll love Glasto then, absolutely bonkers. Thanks for watching
Adopted Glastofarian living a few fields away across the levels, love the place, don't find it weird at all, people are able to be themselves, the rest of the British Isles aren't able to say the same are they? Great video though and thanks for representing the town in a positive light.
I want to live there.
Extremely surreal place... Thanks for watching and the comment
i love the art u get from these shops
Some unique stuff for sure! Thanks for watching and the comment
no-prob-lem@@JoefishJ
Learned so much from this, great content. Keep em coming.
Thanks, will do! Hope you enjoy the content
What a unique place. You can feel the love 💛 Would it be possible to get a trip to the Witch Museum please?
Very cool! This place was insane! Thanks for watching and the comment. Hope you enjoy the content
Maybe I’m a bit crazy because I stayed there and didn’t notice any craziness 🤷🏻♀️ I enjoyed my stay and thought it was a nice place.
Love that! Definitely a nice place but undoubtedly crazy! Thanks for watching and the comment. Hope you enjoy the content
You found your tribe 😊 Most of the rest of the country is crazier imo!
@@JoefishJ yes, I very much did enjoy the content. Thank you 🙏🏽 ☺️💞
@@Solitude11-11 I think you’re right :) X
Thanks for the tour ....very interesting ❤
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching
Glastonbury would be an ideal placement for 670 male migrants. Ideal.
This is uks pagan capital city ...a place where the old ways still live comfortably with modern times ...
Yes unmistakable! Thanks for watching and the comment
Good to see King Arthur's grave. Have seen the spot where St Edmund was shot to death locally but I forget where it was now.
A truly unique place! Thanks for watching and the comment hope you enjoy the content
Glastingebury as it use to be known is the best place to be apart from Cornwall😊also it sits on good ley lines that run from Cornwall to Glastonbury.
I didn’t know this, but I have said before that I feel Cornwall has a real atmosphere to it, and Glastonbury definitely does, so it now makes sense
Thank you @@Victoria-kl7su ☺
Love both! Cornwall for me is best. Kernowfornia. Thanks for watching and the comment
Cornwall is my spiritual home, especially Boscastle. It's magical xxx
yes it is🤗@@Pinkbubble702
Loved this 💖

Startin to like your channel a lot man. Cheers and hello from US
Awesome mate thanks for the kind words 👍 hope you enjoy the upcoming adventures
@5:40 affiirmation cubes only a fiver for a 1 inch cube of wood, with a few words laser etched onto each side, I could make one for about 10p i reckon, Need to get to one of these stall places and take some pictures, and knock this tat out for a fraction of the cost, this time next year i'll be a milliiunayre Rodders.
This time next year! Brilliant. Thanks for watching and the comment
I live in Glastonbury, and i have a video clip of a beautiful fairy that touched me on my back 🧚♂️❤️🙏🏼🤗
Wow incredible would love to see it!
I’m that fairy in her video…
Try Bridport in Dorset on a Saturday (market day). Brilliant town.
One of my faves, my grandparents had a caravan in Charmouth! Thanks for watching and the comment

Hey Carlos! I always look out for your comments, since the beginning you've been supporting! Thanks again Carlos! See you on the next one.
Glastonbury is a wonderful place, I love it, I regularly visit when in Bristol, so much so I plan to retire there
It's certainly a unique and beautiful place no doubt 👍
I love Glastonbury 💜 so much history and a vibe you can’t find really anywhere else 🙏 There are stories that Jesus visited there but I am very unsure about this claim if I am to be honest 🙏⭐️
Yes definitely totally agree! I'm not going to claim Jesus Visited but Joseph of Arimathea almost certainly did. Thanks for watching
