Im a surfer and travel all around the UK enjoying my passion for the last 25 years. Usually in the crisp and clean waters of Thurso. I quickly realised the problem surfing south of the border with rancid stench and stinging eyes so I looked into it. Thatcher privatised English water implemented through the water act 1989 selling 10 publicly owned regional water companies to private companies. In comparison 'Scottish water' a publicly owned company has grown into the envy of europe with clean flowing rivers and minimal discharge rates. Our tap water is second to none. The english people need to OWN THE WATER!

Cheers for this Joe. Here's another ongoing and life-threatening scandal that is the legacy of every government since the inception of the NHS.
Yesterday, my ex-husband of 40 years passed away in hospital 2 days after being found on the floor by his carers on Monday. They contacted my daughter at work, so she came and stayed with him till the ambulance arrived. 13 HOURS LATER ! He did not live in a remote or rural area, but in an urban town in Essex. Then there was the interminable wait at A&E. My daughter all the while with him until he was found a bed 14 hours later. She even had to bring his own pillow to A&E as they no longer have their own. My daughter was exhausted after 36 hours without sleep, so after much needed rest and the sorting of toiletries and clothes for her father, she went back to the hospital to find he had passed an hour before she arrived. Despite his low blood pressure and other issues, his actual cause of death remains unclear. Although there are no signs of injury, there is a possibility that he may have fallen while trying to get out of bed and went into cardiac arrest. He was due for a CT scan and so was found by staff quite soon. But hopefully the coroner may order an autopsy and that will provide some certainty.
My ex was a slightly-built, 69-year old curmudgeon. He was riddled with osteoporosis, and quite possibly cancer. And though he had neglected his own health, especially after his long term girlfriend had died earlier in the year, he was also neglected by the system who either failed to act on his problems, which had often been highlighted by my eldest son, or just dismissed and ignored altogether. This is not just a disgrace, its a crime.
I am now 66 and have multiple mobility issues in most of my joints. Some because of the medical negligence I suffered as a child back in the 70s, and the rest because of the gradual and deliberate decimation of the NHS. As a result, I am seriously sh*t-scared of going anywhere near the medical profession in this country! In that sense, I too am neglecting my own health, but the fear of letting the so-called medical professionals, especially in a hospital, anywhere near me is just too great! I know that most of the medical staff do an incredible job under most relatively dire circumstances, but its not enough. There is insufficiently trained and qualified staff, beds and equipment. There is a total lack of understanding from the hospital suits who govern the finances of any given hospital in the UK, despite being paid obscene amounts themselves. And people like my ex, and me if I let them, are at their mercy, which is either in very short supply or doesn't exist at all. EVERY MP in EVERY UK government should hang their head in utter shame.
RIP to all who have recently passed, and blessings and confort to their families.
    😔🙏⚖️🙏🕊️

Start fasting two days a week. I do Mon and Thurs. Modern living doesn't allow the body to naturally heal anymore. On fasting days have tea or coffee or herbal teas, milk allowed, no sugar. Your body will move into ketosis and allow it to heal inflammation. I'm 61 and will try to continue this for the rest of my life.

I agree that the NHS should not cause problems, but I don't think it is sustainable at its present cost, and apparently the managers have saved it a lot of money. Without them, stupid things happen, like it paying 20x the real cost for things, as suppliers rip it off. I also don't think it should keep babies alive who've been born with their hearts outside their chest, etc. This breeds horrific illness into humanity. I think it should do more basic things, and do them well.

    •  หลายเดือนก่อน

@@alanbutterworth4219 I don't think women (especially) should drink milk while fasting, it's now come out that drinking more than two "regular small" cups of milk per day is not that good for women, there's a special type of sugar in milk called galactose that women have problems with, and which can increase inflammation and eventually hurt arteries and the heart if they drink too much. I just recently read about it.

Working with governmental organisations such as DEFRA and the Environment Agency is frustrating and eye opening with there lack of knowledge on impacts, there lack of transparency and these bodies should be named and shamed IMO for having little to no concern for the environment. Were you aware the rivers Tyne, Tees, Tweed and Clyde have lost up tp 96% of there Dace populations (valuable filter and buffer spp), in only 12 months. It’s not a planned destruction of a waterways and oceans.
It’s caused by 50+ years of investment into the sewage infrastructure that is not proportionate to population growth and the development of urban areas. A lot of our sewage networks were designed (over a 100 years ago) to take both rain and black water from houses. Sadly this design no longer works as we have concreted everything so everything runs directly into the sewage network rather than into fields. This combined with increased sewage volumes caused by population growth and more extreme weather is what’s causing the devastation.
To get out of this mess, it’s important the government keeps regulations tight and pressure is sustained on the water companies from the public to ensure they continue investing in the infrastructure to bring it up to the standard that it needs to be at it to cope with high volumes of rain water.
Please, as the public we can help in small ways to not cause further damage by ensuring we don’t abuse the sewerage network by discarding wet wipes and other non perishable items in the toilet as these will NEVER breakdown and only cause damage to the network and sewage treatment works.
