Motorcycle Troubles!
I've had three, count them, three flat tires in the past two weeks! And my attempts to capture motorcycle video have been marred by terrible sound issues with the camera and microphone. But we persevere!

I wish you luck. Good to see another one of your videos albeit short. Have a great day! Cheers!! Illinois
@@larrywade9041 thank you! Still struggling with technical recording issues but hope to get some more content out soon.
That looks hideous. Congratulations
@@DM-ci2nn yeah, I agree. I’ve gone the other way lately, to a minimal in-the-wind approach.
Hey . .I'm viewing your video all the way in Jamaica,I'm privilege to own one of these motorcycle , very nice however the 401 engine seems to be similar in physical size .are they the same in size ( the 125 and the 401engine )
@@wainwright2868 nope. The 401 has a 396 cc engine putting out over 40 horsepower. Same chassis and handling I believe. Thanks!
Mine hasn't leaked a sip
I wish I could downvote this video twice. Thanks for wasting my time, Bub!
Harley rider my entire life....at age 56, I sold all of them and just bought a CTX 1300 Deluxe 🤣😂
Ha!
Just bought mine - can't wait to pick it up!
Nice! Hope you enjoy it!
what are your thoughts 1 year later? I'm looking to get one shortly second-hand with 14k km's on it as my first bike. cheers from Australia mate!
I still love that bike. I sold it, but only because I had three motorcycles and I’m trying to economize a bit. The Svartpilen was a little bit “young” for me, if you know what I mean. I sold it to a lovely young woman in her twenties who was thrilled to get it. And I know she got a great bike. Engine, suspension, brakes, handling, all top notch. I kept my BMW R18 and my Royal Enfield Int650 because they are each too beautiful to sell.
Rlly helpful! Now I know what I’ll need to pay extra attention to when I start my hunt for a secondhand 401!
Glad I could help!
Versys X300 is overall better for me than CB500X ( i have been rent many different year models of them).
New Subscriber. This is easily the best Svartpilen content on YT. I appreciate you taking the time to share your experiences with this bike. This is going to be my starter bike... just need to decide between the 2023 vs 2024. I'm seeing the older version for as low as 4.5(k) - so I think I might spend the savings on an engine guard & a fuel cannister.
ALWAYS: Refill w/approx 3/4 of the amount specified. Run the engine/fill the oil filter. Stop and park on center stand for at least 1/2 hour. Finish "filling" using sight glass until it's JUST RIGHT. Amen
Some little chinese woman put that button there.A KN filter will def give more power but you have to follow up with free flow exhaust and fuel management chip.
Actually the first belt was introduced to Harley in 1985. Before that they were chain drive
Good to know. Thanks!
Sweet bike, and I know just what you mean. I had an FJR and I had a Ninja 250. I felt like a hero revving to 14k on that little Ninja, while not even speeding. On the FJR, two shifts and I was going >85 mph. I got a ticket the second day of FJR ownership with my wife on the back; unmarked cop in an old Chevy Corsica.
Thanks again Quentin for the informative video. Do a video for us driving that bike around for maybe 20 min. or so. I'd love to see how she handles & sounds. Have a great day my friend. Cheers!! P.S. What's the price range for these used? Illinois, USA
Check out CycleTrader.com. I’m seeing prices from $12K for low-miles used.
My friend, I believe the Amazing BMW R18 it's a so magnificent motorcycle with or without windshield!!!
I agree! Thanks.
Glad to see you back Quentin. I really liked that Husqvarna that you had. I'll miss you on it. I would like to see a video on your bmw some time. Have a great day! Cheers!! Illinois
Thanks! I am loving the R18. Should have something on it soon. 👍
Glad to see you back. Send some of that warm weather up the coast. 😅 I got rid of my '14 cb500f 2 months ago, but bought a brand new '23 vstrom 800de mid adv. What a difference. Hopefully this will be my last & only bike I'll ever need. Looking forward to your next video down the road.👊
Thanks! I am very interested in the new Suzuki 800’s. The reviews are excellent. Enjoy!
@QuentinsMotoVlog If you can test drive one, do it. Only cons for me were lack of cruise control (kaoko throttle lock will suffice) and tubed tires. I put a taller windscreen and deflector for highway use. They're definitely not like the parallel twins of old.
I want a motorcycle I can own for over three years and to commute in a big city and have some big trips once in a while, but I cannot decide between the Versys 300x and the g310gs, it is so difficulto to choose between those great bikes.
Hard for me to say definitively because I’ve never owned or ridden 300 cc BMW, but I can share that the Kawasaki routinely wins in TH-cam comparison videos. And, the Kawasaki is a great bike. It’s not fast but it is comfortable. Maybe more importantly, I always felt good on it. It has a really nice presence. Thanks for the comment!
did you notice some changes to your fuel consumption after you installed the fuelx lite?
I did not. But I didn’t check. If it changed it was too slight to notice.
Fun watching someone riding my motorcycle. I have a red one too, with 72k miles. Nice to see a video of someone riding responsibility, not stupidly. One correction - stock USB cable does not charge your phone or anything else. These is an option for a power port in one of the rear bags. If you haven't already, check out the ctxforum for a good group of helpful owners.
This bike is nice but the sound is so bad. It sounds excactly like my Svartpilen 125cc.
Really? I love the sound. Even with a stock pipe. Of course, they’re both singles.
I have never seen an oil filter seal not stay on an oil filter. Sure enough, when I changed the oil on my R18, the seal stuck to the block. Between your video and my habit of always checking for the seal, I saved myself from the same disaster you experienced.
Great video thanks! 🙏
Thank you!
the x300 is a nice moto, I'm at almost 4000 miles on mine, but I only added a Givi 30L box and a phone mount. The manual says not for "off road" but fine for dirt roads. So, not supposed to be out rock hopping or trialing, but fun to ride. *my third moto.
Nice. I didn’t know they say it isn’t for off-road. That explains a lot!
Hi there from Australia. Returning older rider and thinking about the Versys 300. You did a great deal there. Persistent reports say the seat is seriously hard and uncomfortable. How do you find it? I notice there is (what looks like) a fitted sheepskin cover on it. Did you add that? If so, did it help? And where do you get them? I hope you got that school zone ticket waived. Cheers.
Thanks, and yes, I fought that ticket with a lawyer who cost me as much as the ticket but at least it was wiped off my record. I did put a cushion on the seat and the sheepskin. The sheepskin is a quality item that comes from Alaska Leathers. I put them on all my bikes. The best cushion I’ve found is this one on Temu: share.temu.com/v6ypX6i2uAA Good luck with your riding and thanks again.
@@QuentinsMotoVlog Saved the points, which is the most important. Excellent info on the seating. Thx.
Greetings, As always another brilliant detailed video production Y🇺🇸🍾🎉🇺🇸 Would you provide me with the link to purchase the windshield extension, and keep producing more videos about the Kawasaki
Thank you so much! I think this is a current link for this extender: a.co/d/coMi1qp
Blew threw 2 stop signs right off bat! LOL love it. Im looking at a 300 seems to be a sweet little fun 50/50 bike.
Yes, Stop signs are really just suggestions. Thanks!
I completely agree. The whole idea of riding is that YOU are the one controlling the beast, otherwise we are just bus riders. And it boggles my mind that people; even in this comment section, love all this stuff. Even to a point that they have to hurl insults, as if tech is like a religion to them. It's very bizarre.
Can you send me description on witch passenger floorboars you mounted, they look gr8.
Thanks for the question. Unfortunately this video is a years old now, and I traded in the Valk some time ago-I’ve had so many bikes in the last few years I don’t even know what I traded it for. Apologies.
Your bike is too small for me. I love my Harleys also because they are made in America by Americans... not overseas by slopes. Go ahead and enjoy your cheap riceburner. Come to Sturgis and you will probably get your scrawny ass kicked.
Great driving video. Where is this mess. Lol
Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. My own slice of heaven.
Just started riding this year (age 55) and got my INT650 a few months ago. LOVE IT! Thinking a windscreen would help with the wind, appreciate your video. Also, been looking at the Rebel 1100 as well. 😈
Thanks! Currently I have an inexpensive windshield from Ali Express which I cut down to chest level. I find that the best solution is that height. It cuts the wind blast from my chest but leaves a smooth flow around my helmet.
Very honest experience review, Thank you!
Thanks!
I get it im#67 ..lol
Funny thing Quentin Fellow 401 rider here. I have exactly the same problems with the official Husqie motorshop here in Ankara, Turkey. They are the WORST lol. By the way I share your thoughts on this little beast being the most fun ride ever. I have a Ducati Scrambler Full Throttle. A beauty in its own way. Everything preem quality. But it doesn't give me as much fun as this 401. Also we have exactly the same glasses too. Lol. A brother from the other side of the world. Cheers buddy.
Thanks my friend! I love it!
@@QuentinsMotoVlog watch this video, I know our machines are beasts but I didn't knew they were such beasts. Some crazy Serbians ride them like they've stolen them lol. ep01: SCRAMBLERS / SVARTPILEN 401 & XSR 700 OFFROAD
@@bolumsonucanavari thanks! I’ll check it out. I ride my bikes but I don’t thrash em. 😎
My friend had the same issue with his collection of bikes, he rented them out and the R1 got trashed. He now runs an adventure touring rental. He sold all his Big touring Harleys and got I thin 8 Versys X 300 (yeah that many I was also shocked) he teached off rod riding skills and how to pack and they go on rides around the state. Man you should think about that. Gf has a BMW 310 GS and I have a 2024 Versys X300. (The KTM 390 I am waiting for my mate to get one so I cen test ride)
I myself have a lovely R18 Classic and I have not had any Mobility or turning issues, Im constantly in the twisty roads and the bike does well. Its not a canyon carver by any means but corners very well
Thanks. I agree. I like to hang out a toe and just glide my boot across the pavement on tight turns.
Mine goes 100
Down hill with a tail wind? Just kidding. Some people tell me they can do 100. Regardless, it is a beautiful bike.
Great vid. I have one . Smallest bike I've ever had. I love it. Nippy, turns on a sixpence proper fun. Use it mainly to commute but also for motocamping.
Nice! It has to be a great commuter.
you got a thing against STOP signs?
They are only suggestions here in the USA. ;)
@@QuentinsMotoVlog"California stops".. 😅
@@Nexus-6 absolutely. You get run over if you come to a full stop here in the US! The Brits don’t get it.
Any issue with front tire wobble?
There was a wobble. My BMW R18 Classic does the same thing. It might be related to tire wear. Leaving one hand on the handlebars solves the problem but there are times when I want to remove both hands briefly to adjust or fix something on the run, and then it’s sketchy.
Changing my neck bearing and hoping it fixes it
@@johnderosambeau4820 is your front tire worn? That could be the problem.
Q, i will be trying this trick on my 650 meteor. I think your saying to remove the center split piece in the old snorkle, have i got it correct? If i have it wrong, please correct my mistake and tell me what part i need to remove! Doug🏍️👍😀🧸🐻🤓
Yes, I think so. The idea is just to smooth out the inside of the snorkel so the air flows smoothly. Good luck with it!
You can remove the air filter, that essentially what K&N air filter does, you can see through k&n filter, it's not the best to the engine.
That’s the first time I’ve ever heard anyone complain about the K&N!
I got the Vitpilen 401 and I am absolutely in love with it. I have been thinking about the DNA and K&N filter set with a fuel lite, but that will be further down the road.
Enjoy! I do recommend both of those changes because they’re affordable, very easy to install, and make a noticeable difference. It is a great bike right off the dealers floor.
Thanks for the video. Do you still like these risers after a year? I am considering for my new PA. Thank you.
Yes, never regretted the risers. There are other options but I was very happy with these. Thanks!
Where you get that side rack for saddlebags??
Apologies, but it was several years ago and I don’t remember. I often search eBay for parts. They have a lot. Sometimes I’ll go to AliExpress or Temu, although the quality of what I get is sometimes good, sometimes crap. And there’s always Amazon, but they are not very good for motorcycle accessories.
I would say, the only thing better than the CTX1300 is the CTX700. Has all the features but weighs about a buck fifty less and is quite a bit cheaper. So comfortable and capable. The only thing the 1300 has over my 700 is the shaft drive. It’s a shame these bikes didn’t make it. Been riding for 50 years and over a dozen different bikes. This one checks all the boxes.
Does the 700 have that annoying handlebar vibration? That’s what ultimately led me to sell the 1300.
Your enthusiasm tipped the scales for me and I've ordered one. Thank you.
Cool! I am happily surprised every time I get on the 401 and twist the throttle. When you nail the engine, suspension, tires and brakes that’s a pretty remarkable combination!
