    I'd recommend slapping a additional 50 bucks on top the purchase price of the helmet you chose, and get something that would allow a pin-lock to be installed. This does exactly the same, but won't let water in during less fortunate weather and also would not explode in your face when in an accident and landing on your face (which is likely).

      exactly and a great point about compromising the integrity of the visor in an accident.

      You guys recommending pinlock are probably right. I’ve just been too cheap, lazy or incalcitrant to try them. And I like to tinker, modify and experiment. Can’t argue with pinlock but I like my own innovations.

    Man, this is cheap and easy fix.
    I've been messing with anti-fog solutions and none that well.
    Anti-fog film, soap, vinegar, potato, shaving cream, toothpaste.
    Scientifically, your hot breath condenses on your cold visor, but if the visor has sufficient air going in to your face and visor, it should cool your breath before it condenses. Should also dry anything condensed on the visor.

    Pinlocks add another piece of plastic to look through. I like Q's idea and doubt if it compromises the helmet since they are round holes, but I am wondering if you can enhance the HJC vent system that re-directs the air to the inside of the shield? I went with the universal HJC breath box (sold online) on a couple of my helmets (yes, I have too many HJC helmets) and it cured the fogging problem even at 30*f outside. I might try Q's fix but so far, I am fog free. The breath box has a bendable band in it and the trick is to get all the warm air going south. I can see cracks compromising a piece of plastic but not holes.

      Thanks for the comment. A breath box is a good idea.

      It worked for me after blocking all the air off' Those guys are assuming a shield is going to automatically shatter with a few round holes........lol @@QuentinsMotoVlog

      Thank you! I find it works great. But, as they say, “your results may vary?” It’s pretty simple and I think it would help anyone. Low risk, tangible reward.

    Can't be riding at any decent speed, wind or rain for that matter. Water always finds a way, it is literally the most well know feature of water. Seems daft to permanently damage something in the name of 'fixing' something. If you have issues with fogging, get a Pinlock visor and the Pinlock insert.

    • @QuentinsMotoVlog
      @QuentinsMotoVlog  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well, that’s your opinion, but I’ve tested it. It works.

    • @MotoGoato
      @MotoGoato 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      agreed ... pinlocks work really well, especially the 120s, without doing any damage or compromising the strength of the visor at all. I've been using them for about a decade with no issues ... just clear and fog free vision 🙂

      @PokerMuppet 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@QuentinsMotoVlog actually, no. That it works is YOUR opinion... That it MAY have not leaked for YOU, YET... is one thing, but to suggest that it WON'T leak for anyone else is pure nonsense and you know that I am correct otherwise you wouldn't have made the comment that others experiences may be different. Water + wind + holes = leaks. Otherwise manufacturers would just include those holes in visors rather than spend millions on researching anti-misting materials and chemicals.

    I've long had a rule that I don't ever put something in front of my eyes that I can't instantly rip off; a near get-off, instantly blinded at speed on a cold and humid Georgia night taught me that... obviously I don't use permanently attached face-shields ... the trick is to get clear air in front of your eyes on a path that water/spray can't easily follow (if its raining/drizzling, dust ain't an issue...). I have the advantage of riding behind windshields (I'm past my mid-70s, so image isn't a problem). Windshield at eye height -- safety glasses pulled down my nose a touch, and just a slot under my helmet visor and generally I can see just fine in a downpour or drizzle, or fogging day -- and if worst comes to worst I just tilt my head and/or slide the glasses down for a moment... fogging isn't an issue because there is noting to fog...
    If you ever have a face shield instantly fog in one of those valley temp inversions, you'll figure out your own system, cuz it sure as heck beats trying to find the shoulder of the road by feeling for it with your boots...

      Thanks for sharing. Sounds like a good approach. And yes, I have been blinded by torrential rain on a highway before I ever thought of drilling holes in my face shields, and no pinlock or holes could have helped that. And it was a white knuckle experience to be sure.

    I would have thought that three holes in the front of the visor will let in water in the rain.

    • @QuentinsMotoVlog
      @QuentinsMotoVlog  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Some additional moisture certainly must come in, but I’ve ridden with this in the rain and it is so negligible I can’t feel it.

    • @trd4d
      @trd4d 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think you could use a considerably smaller bit and not get moisture.

    • @QuentinsMotoVlog
      @QuentinsMotoVlog  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@trd4d maybe. The test for me is how it feels. I've ridden in the rain and in the cold with four holes now. I think I can feel a little extra breeze on my mustache. I can't feel any difference in moisture. Every change has an effect. No denying that. The question is one of significance. Thanks!

      @QuentinsMotoVlog there's no way they don't, if they didn't manufacturers would have them there from the beginning. Road debris (stone, branch, a bird even) and its definitely a more risk of shattering
