Voice Over Trail Reviews
United States
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 13 เม.ย. 2017
Based out of the Portland, OR area in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, whenever I ride a new trail, I bring along my GoPro and when I get back home I write a review. One of the obstacles I faced when I started mountain biking was deciding whether or not it was worth making the commitment to drive to a trail system without knowing ahead of time what the trails were going to be like. This channel is an attempt to solve that problem for the Pacific Northwest. Every now and then I get out of the Cascadia region, but this biome is my primary focus.

Devil's Gulch Mission Ridge
This canonical ride should be your first epic if you've never ridden an epic before. It's the perfect introduction to longer loop rides and the payoff in views makes it worthwhile.
Located just outside of Wenatchee, Washington, the trail is located just past the town of Cashmere.

Tiger Mountain || I wish this was my backyard.
มุมมอง 1.1K5 หลายเดือนก่อน
www.patreon.com/voiceovertrails Located in North Bend, Washington, just outside the Seattle area, Tiger Mountain is the trail system you wish you had in your backyard. If it is in your backyard, you're lucky and you should be riding it because it's awesome. This is my first ride down Atlas and I really liked it. None of the other trails were new to me, but they were totally worth riding again.
Biking Trillium Lake and Eureka Peak
มุมมอง 5458 หลายเดือนก่อน
www.patreon.com/voiceovertrails Located just outside of Government Camp, Oregon, Trillium Lake is a popular cross country skiing and paddle boarding destination. Eureka peak is one of the mountains that stands sentinel over Trillium lake and if you bushwhack to the top of it you can enjoy not seeing anything because it's forested. I used it to get points for Summits on the Air.

This is a remote adventure that's worth your while if you've got the...
Coldwater Peak

www.patreon.com/voiceovertrails www.trailforks.com/ridelog/view/55753781/ Coldwater peak is a challenge to summit on a bicycle, but the views are arguably almost worth it. Almost. It's near Portland and not too far from Seattle. It affords a great view of St. Helens Lake as well as Spirit Lake and the summit of Mount Saint Helens and the entire blast zone.
Ranger Creek Descent
มุมมอง 883ปีที่แล้ว
www.patreon.com/voiceovertrails Ranger Creek is one of the venerable 410 trails. It's often climbed as a couplet with the Palisades trail, and from the looks of things it appears that folks also descend it. Don't descend this trail when there's a perfectly good Palisades trail that is literally accessed from the same trail head! Anyway, this recreation area is roughly equidistant from Portland ...

White River From Palmer Snowfield

www.patreon.com/voiceovertrails The White River Canyon extends up to around 1500 feet above the elevation of the top of the Palmer ski lift. Try #barebones…up hills creek lake- a former fire trail and a secret, of we…#locals. #oror
I’m local. They should have called it #ridgeline. Oh, I just suffered a grade4 A/C tear at 56!
Nice review, thanks! Upper Mission Ridge is also a fun descent, with a different character over some rock screes.
Go to where ever that is. Bend sucks
My favorite way to ride is to ride up the dirt road at the 214 trailhead and ride down the catamount. The logging on the road has opened up sections with amazing views, and the climbing is very mellow. If you’re craving a longer ride, there are sections of catamount that you can loop, or loop the whole thing. This trail is probably my favorite place to ride within a decent drive from south of Portland
Wenatchee is way better
Right... Snowshoers!
Awesome video love the commentary!
Sandstone, not granite. Sorry, I can't help but correct this.
Is that road at the end paved? Big Swamp Road / 2153 Can't quite tell on my phone. Thanks!
Heyo. Nice to see you in the neighborhood again. Just fyi, Devils Gulch had quite alot of work done a couple years ago which is why it's so nice now. It was definitely a mess prior, with a ton of small rockslides along those sidehills. Made for alot of annoying little loose scrambly climbs and descents.
Well, huge thanks to the trail builders! It looks great!
That's a great old classic epic ryde don't worry about the motorcycles is very few this guy was spot-on with his review of the trail
Thanks!
Thank You! 😊
Thanks!

Stay away Seattle Lol
Great vid and awesome trail! You should head to klootchy creek trails outside of seaside for a review. It’s turned into a pretty amazing trail network for us on the coast
It’s on the list!
Please don’t come hear. Your not really welcome here like you rude people think. Seattle is everything Bend doesn’t want to be. You people have ruined Seattle with your liberal policies.
Serious answer: Bend is trendy. Snatchee is sorta grimy. Also most people aren't really that great and just want XC riding.
I've been gathering info on this one, its only a couple hours away. How accessible are the roads to the trailheads at either end? Could you get to them in a 2wd Sprinter van? Looks like the southern trailhead is easier to get to? I'm thinking of riding it over a couple days, in-out from each end to the middle-ish or further.
Do not attempt the Southern trail head in a 2wd Sprinter van, or any tall/long vehicle for that matter. You’ll be very sad. It’s a super rough road. The Northern terminus is the campground and that’s accessible by passenger vehicle.
I miss your content! Thanks.
Because Bend is the sh.t
Seattleites go everywhere. It’s a big city.
Beats me. Even for Portlanders. You have to go past so many amazing riding zones to get to Bend. I've been really trying to get some of my friends to think outside the Bend...
As someone who lives in the Dry Shtties, It's easier on my brain to get to North Bend than it is Wesnatchee.
2-3x longer drive from my house.
the clear cut portions are still very rideable 4 years later fyi
I have enjoyed and maintained these trails since 1984.
Come back brah? Where'd you go?
There's been a lot going on for the last year or so. There will be more to come this Summer!
It's actually pretty cool in the winter. No people and some really wild rime ice formations on the wind exposed slopes.
Good advice. I'll try it in Winter one of these years!
🤘🤘
Damn, i was hoping for some insight but i dont imagine you have ever been taught the basics of satcom, whether an inreach or satphone, position is everything. Heavy overhead is not good for any of the iridium networks. Chose areas to get clear skys without cliffs or other low level obstructions along the way. And as far as the SOS beacon, it does not use satcom, instead just blasts on a 406mhz freq until you are found. Misuse of a tool doesnt mean the tool sucks.
Thanks for watching!
It's cool to look at how bad some of Road 4109 was just a few years ago. Here is what some of those segments looked like on Memorial Day. It's still rough, but people don't abandon their vehicle at the side of the road these days. th-cam.com/users/shorts9QJGOeGgVI0?si=XWndUo6-Ibb1QRP7
I hear rumors that there were some off the radar volunteers who made that happen! Thanks for the update!
Neat trail but built for the 1% of riders who can hit features like the ones built here
There are ridearounds for all significant features.

Recommending to climb Lil Maui? Seriously. It is ridiculous. Don't be that guy.
Haaa 😅
RAD... this is a nice preview of the Trans-Cascadia work party on Huffman Peak trail in June of 2024. Thanks.
Thanks! This video was made before the fire, so a lot of this will look quite a bit different. Much of it will be the same, though.
Cool review of a brutal loop, that steep trail at the end is Bootleg Mtb. the 173 forks to the right and joins up with the bottom of the rogue trail.
I'd always heard it referred to as "Deer Trail." I like Bootleg, though. Works for me!
There is also a deer trail extension we found, starts by the fire pit/dump where you exit 4104.
just like being on an exprewssway, bikes are NOT permitted on michigan ave.
I didn't realize it was an actual statute, but I don't know why anyone who values their life would even want to try.
I have a car, but have biked in the city for well over a decadde and just purchased my first new bike in well over 10 years.
Love your commentary
Thank You!
Math is off a lttle. Gifford Pinchot is not point seven times the size of Texas. Actually it is 0.007 times the size of Texas. Texas is 132 times the size of Gifford Pinchot. Math is off for Rhode Island and for Connecticut as well. Thumbs down.
Ha! Good catch! I realized I screwed it up after I'd already posted the video! Obviously I need to fire my fact checker! :-P
Awesome vid bro! Are there any super steep trails you'd recommend out there?? Always on the hunt for some good chutes
Best steep chute I've found in the GP is the Bluff trail. It's hard to get to, but worth the effort if you're up to it. www.trailforks.com/trails/bluff-trail-139408/
How long did it take to ride that trail?
About 7 hours because I had to stop and look at stuff.
Thanks!
We just hiked this today and I can confirm everything he said in the video is accurate.
I hope you didn’t get any poison oak!
I knew I was going to like this video when it started with “this is a 4 sandwich climb” 😂🥪
😂 You have to stop climbing when you run out of sandwich.
This trail is also pretty good on a motorcycle. Much better than pedaling
I didn’t even realize motos were allowed on it.
@@VoiceOverTrailReviews yep, there’s a few trails around that allow them. That one is horses bikes motorcycles and hikers. FYI if you run into a horse anywhere in oregon they have the right of way 100% of the time.
