Great review: so informative & entertaining. I am a blade aficionado, and pulled these out of my collection the other day and after a day on the range put them back in my back for thr first time in over a decade (sorry Hogan Fort Worth 15’s). They are so solid and soft. Like Butter. Look forward to other reviews from you. Adams MB2’s? KZG zo’s? Thanks.

I still have my MP14s 1 iron thru PW and love them they still look like new and I used them a lot in nineties and took care of them love hitting 1i and 2i always straight up fairway … learned to play on blades in late eighties used jack nick signature MacGregor blade clubs still have those and even still use the sand wedge from that with my MP 14s - have not played in so many years due to work and family and eager to get back and look forward to my MP 14s

I so appreciate your insight and your love for the vintage. I just came from the range, as earlier today my ebay set of ultradyne II (3-pw) had arrived. Tomorrow I am hitting the links and putting the 6,8, & 9 in my bag. Interesting was the slight difference in distance when compared to today's cavity back. While the yardage with the Ultradyne was less the apex was noticably more. Now I have a question. The PW at the junction where it is connected to the shaft is missing the black ring. Thoughts and or concerns?

Mr. Vintage- I bought myself a laminated Dunlop 7 wood back in the early 80's which features a brass sole of similar configuration. Then a laminated Harvey Penick 20* "Weed Cutter" from Golfsmith. Now Louisville Golf "Niblicks" 3, 5, and 7 persimmons with the same general design. All are fine fairway/trouble woods too.

One of the original trouble clubs. Most commonly seen as a 7 wood back in the day. When these came out, these appeared in many member bags where I caddied, and they really worked especially for the high handicappers. The club actually would dig the ball out of the rough. One caveat as a caddy. Get ready to replace a lot of divots. I mean a lot the size of small forest animals.

I don't understand the big head thing. I have a set and the club is the same size as my Hogan Apex Channel Backs. I personally don't mind the insert. I had a set of Maxflis with an insert also.....I am a traditional blade player, Hogan, Wilson, Mizuno, but can woek these and they play well. The game improvement idea always made me laugh because my blades I always thought we game improvement irons......when I did not swing well they left me know in my hands, so I had to swing well to get that feeling of smoothness...LOL

If you guys want some awesome feeling clubs, buy MP-52's. I reshafted from DG S300 (130 gram) to DG 105 (105 gram) shafts. Wow! These are my clubs. Great feel and sound. 16 years old clubs are the best I ever hit. I mothballed my JPX 921 Hot Metal clubs. I lost some distance, but I gained a tighter dispersion and consistent distance. I am never going back to cast clubs.

I played with the Wilson 1200 clubs for a great number of years without any complaints. That driver was a good driver, laminated or not, along with the 3 wood and the 5 wood. One time my driver shattered on the face during a tee shot but I sent it back and Wilson sent me a replacement without a charge. And that driver was just as good as the original. Golf really needs to go back to this era of equipment and then we'll find out who the real golfers are.

A lil late to the party though the Rosa Monza is not only THE Grandaddy of the Spider line of putters, it is the OG of ALL the high-MOI putters, from the Scotty Futura Phantom to the Evnroll & LAB monstrosities. The "AGSI" moniker stands for "Anti-skid Groove System Insert," which is a insert with CNC milled grooves that “grab” the ball and impart topspin for a truer roll. Each groove is filled with a soft polymer for better feel and vibration absorption. Though it's size is off-putting to some, it still is as stable on off center hits as any mallet on the market today, along with the flexibility of altering its head weight with an available weight kit, ranging from 2mg to 16gr. Having gamed both the RM along with the "Itsy Bitty" Spider, in addition to having both the Scotty Phantom 5.5 & 7.5, with my current gamer bein the Spider Tour X Proto, if one wants a great feeling high MOI mallet, the Rosa Monza is still a superb choice. If one cannot get past its size, then it's not the putter for you, however if you can reserve judgement until ya roll a few, I believe that you'll be very very positively surprised!! In 30 plus years of playing golf, if have owned just about every iteration of Big Bertha's. Just picked up a used set of these recently. And I forgot how good they are. In this era, Callaway was run by engineers. Ditto, Ping. Then the marketers and asset managers slowly took over. And the new offerings are proof that new clubs are disposable. Not durable like these. It sounds funky to say. But it's part of the appeal of owning these old classics. And one more thing. The go to ball of that era was the balata Titleist 90 compression. Those balls and clubs like these were a match made in heaven.

My dad bought a set of Maxfli Australian Blades 2nd in 1977 (we're not from the US). They were hand me downs to my older brother and then to me. We learned how to play golf with unforgiving blades. When you hit it right, it feels so good but when you hit it off center you know instantly. The set is still sitting in my store room. Every once in a while I take it to the range for a reality check 🤣 I still a crap golfer but I love these clubs.

Had a lot of great years with the G2. I had a fairly unique 7 degree version, but I always had a high launch and too much spin even with that loft. Made some adjustments to my swing, and just upgraded to the Cobra Darkspeed LS 8 degree. Absolutely crushing it, and my ball flight and spin are beyond vastly improved...as with distance. Thanks for the review, even years later.

I love Ben Hogan irons. I was in goodwill and I picked up three Hogan Redlines ( 5,7,9) which I was happy about. I also picked up a 3 iron VIP macgregor which I have which I use as a driving iron. What the heck, could use a backup. I got suspicious when I inspected the grip and found that the grip had a tennis grip rewear on it. I actually bought my own clubs back, including the Hogans! My wife borrowed my van to take a donation to goodwill, and apparently took the opportunity to chuck some of my loose clubs out of the van! I am hoping I still have the full set of Redlines, I haven’t had the guts to search the garage for them.
