As a CareFree Runner, I lace up my running shoes not to break records but to break free from the rigid norms of traditional training. I'm not here to meticulously track every step or obsess over split times - I'm all about the joy of the run and the freedom it brings. There are no rigid schedules, no strict regimens-just the pure, unfiltered joy of hitting the trails or even some pavement, at times.
You'll be the first to know if I stumble upon a new running technique that adds a skip to my step. If I find a nifty product that helps with my running, I'll share an honest review with you.
This channel is about embracing the run for what it is-an adventure. So, whether you're a seasoned runner or just lacing up your shoes for the first time, come along as we enjoy the running world together. Let's uncover the joy of running without the rulebook!

A Race To Remember | RAGNAR: A 200 MILE ULTRA MARATHON
The RAGNAR Road New England Relay is a 200-mile road Ultra Marathon that started in Groton, CT, passed through Rhode Island, and finished in Quincy, MA. This was a team event where you could have a team of 12 or 6; we were a team of 6. Each team member ran about 30-35 miles in total. It took us 29 hours to complete this 200-mile race.
This was a unique experience for me. I'm used to competing in races solo, but this race was loads of fun. We rented a van that held all of our stuff and was our home for 2 days. We decorated the van to our unique personalities, and we had cake, donuts, and all kinds of treats along the way. There was never a dull moment. This race made great memories, and I hope this is not the last time I'll run the RAGNAR Relay Series.

Did I Almost Get MAULED by A BEAR During the TRAPROCK 50K UltraMarathon?
มุมมอง 67หลายเดือนก่อน
Traprock 50K race is an Ultramarathon in Bloomfield, CT. In the same race, the runners had the option of just doing the 17k loop. For the runners who opted for the 50K ultramarathon, the course consisted of three 11-mile loops. This was a very hilly course, especially for me, who was used to running in Rhode Island, where the highest elevation point is slightly more than 800 ft. At the Traprock...

Rivera & Torin 6 Altra Running Shoe Review
I always wanted to do one of those but I don't think this old body would care for VanLife too much.
I don’t know, I think Van life may be right up your alley!!!!
Hell yeah, what a great adventure you captured for us!
You got to get the RAGNAR Yearbook from Eric!! Unless you have already done that.
Meh. Topo Athletic has proven to many to be a better shoe, especially with regards to durability.
I run in TOPO Athletic’s when I run on roads, but I haven’t used their shoes for trails. Do you know if they make 0 drop trail shoes?
@@carefreerunner They do indeed, it’s called the Pursuit. After experiencing and being unsatisfied with Altra’s lack of durability in the last few years, I bought the Pursuits and haven’t looked back. “Darwin onthetrail” did a great video here on youtube called “the Atra Lone Peak KILLER”. Good review there.
@DookeyRidr thanks for the tip. I may switch over. It’s hard to switch when I’m so used to one type of shoe.
Can u feel vibration when you turn them up.
It depends on the volume. If the volume is high then yes! If your music has a strong bass then possibly. I don’t listen to music but podcasts and books and these are perfect for that.
Great race report Igor. That bear sighting sounds terrifying and amazing. I hear you on the hill training - definitely some thing I also need to work on. Tough living here in the ocean state. Traprock is a race. I’ve always wanted to do but just never have.
The bear sighting was a bit trippy, nothing like a scare during a race to keep me on my toes. I got to get out on more mountainous terrain. It’s a nice little trail Race! You should try it out one of these days.
God is good
I might have to stop by!
You definitely should!! There will be a lot more people than last year!
Keep doing you bro, this is awesome. Bought myself a nice guitar this weekend, we gotta be happy about our purchases at the end of the day lol
Heck yeah! You Keep doing it too!!
I used to work in the factories that build campers... they are absolute trash heaps waiting to fall apart. The entire rv industry is a joke.
Yeah, I know but they’re fun!
I was always jealous of people that can just go running everyday instead of working a job
Yeah me too! Maybe one day I’ll be one of those people 🤞
@@carefreerunnerGood stuff lol. Mfs hating they gotta focus on the 5-9 not the 9-5
This is some real NPC screaming into the void stuff
Heck Yeah!!
You had to comment twice. You’re the real NPC watching youtube shorts not doing shit 😹😹
Ok
Congrats
Thanks!
Looking forward to what you put together for Ragnar!
A Trip to Valhalla and Back!!!
Now that is AWESOME. Jealous...
Jealous? I almost got mauled 😂 just joking they wanted me to ride them but I declined, you know with the race and all 😊
do you know the new st-5? Is it good for running, too?
I’ve never ran in them but from reading their specs they’re very similar to the st-4 model. You just have to be careful running in both of these as they both have minimal cushioning. I wouldn’t recommend running long distance if you’re not used to running with less cushioning and in a 0-drop shoes.
@@carefreerunner i ran in the flyite 5 and the magnifly 4, in "normal" life i wear barefoot shoes... but i bought the st-5 more for "walking" not for running, but maybe i'll try to run shorter distances in these.. what other shoes do you use for your training?
@dersinndeslebens9780 I just run on road in St-4s and trail with Altra Superior 6s
@@carefreerunner how long do the st4 last?
About 500-600 miles
That camper is awesome! I've always wanted to do Traprock. Have a great race there. Big Year ahead for you - I love it!
Traprock complete! 6 more races to go! Can’t wait to take the camper out!
Great! I always get half size larger shoes because I need wide toe boxes. Maybe time to switch to a five finger shoes
Love the prayer! 🙏🏼🙌🏼
I have the trail 2 ones and there so good I’m going to order another five finger maybe a casual pair
That’s great! You should definitely get a casual pair!
My foot is a UK size 9 and yet my toe fingers still find two sizes large in trail 2 tight. It’s the slit between the fingers that is causing me more problems tbh
Good for you. Whats the point of this video?
The point is to share what I wear during the winter so others have an idea what to wear when they go out running in the winter, especially if they’re new to winter running.
Looks amazing to run through
It’s a lot of Fun for sure!!
@@carefreerunner In the South of England we hardly get any snow but I guess we make up for it with sunshine. I think the shorts format I haven’t put together a long video yet
Nice! Could you have gotten to the second race faster if the car was a 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS, with a Normally Aspirated 420A Neon 16-valve DOHC 2-liter 4-cylinder engine, Stock 5-speed transmission, 75hp Nitrous Oxide System, Injen cold air intake, Bored-out throttle body, Axis Model Se7en 18″ Wheels, wrapped with Toyo 225/40/ZR18's, and AEM cross drilled front brake rotors?
I don’t think so! My Chevy Cruze is the fastest mass production vehicle ever made
i love the altra superior...every series were excellent
Yeah, I agree with you. It took me a while to find the perfect shoe and now I can’t let go!
I’m exactly 25cm, a size 40 is too snug and my big toe feels restricted, and a size 41 feels great, but my last 2 digits slip out 😔 it’s a shame, I have the v-aqua in 40 and a gently used pair of Spyridon size 41
Because these shoes are rubber they usually tend to stretch out over time, so if your big toe feels snug now it may not after a while of wearing and washing them.
@@carefreerunnerthank you for responding!! I highly appreciate it, I’ll give it some time, right now it’s rainy and cold in southern cali, but I’m definitely gonna give them some usage and see if they stretch just a tiny bit
Keep me posted! 😁
Thank you sooo much 😁 that was easy 🙏🏽
You’re welcome! I’m glad this video helped!
Le gars est quand même en short 😂
putain oui ! pourquoi pas!🤪
Border Patrollers get it done.
Heck yes!!
SECOND
Haha, this was great. There were several years I thought about trying to do this double as both are awesome race but ultimately one must choose if one wants to truly race. Nice work on completing both!
Thanks it was fun! You have to do the mews tavern race for the beer and food alone!
Are you listening to death grips?
Would saying "Let's go, ... home" be an okay compromise?

Same people who then have to be rescued
Nah, I met people that have to be rescued and that’s not us!
Until it IS.
@@ElizaJ42 NEVER! Maybe…Oh Well😵💫
That's what people who have to be rescued say@@carefreerunner
@okdoggy1 That’s cool that you know people that have said this before and have been rescued. I personally don’t know anyone.😏Anyways this isn’t even too difficult for your average trail runners and ultra runners. This is sort of expected to encounter during trail runs! These type of adventures what makes this sport exciting!
Mine looked worse after 200 miles 😭
Dang! Where do you go running? That seems extreme!
Climbing shoes?
Trail Running Shoes. Just went on some technical trails and I think a branch or a rock cut through my shoe!
What if your foot isn’t a woman’s sized foot that is bigger than the sheet of paper?
Tape 2 sheets of paper together
Nice work. Only managed 2000 miles one year. Well done and good luck in 2024!
Thanks! And I like how you said “Only 2000 Miles,” ha ha Good Luck to you in 2024 and hopefully I’ll see you at some of the events in 2024 as well!
👍nice video
yea i guess the audio is consistent, good job
I meant this video: The PERFECT Excuse To UPGRADE Your RUNNING GEAR! th-cam.com/users/shorts_up2ZEaJFLw?feature=share
That’s some good Ol’ Timey.
I Channeled Charlie Chaplin in this one! I sort of like this. Maybe I should do all my videos silent era style!
@@carefreerunner definitely return to the format again. Happy New Year!
Happy New Year!!🎆
yo make your audio consistent💀
Yes I need to! I know it’s one of this channels weaknesses! In fact, a new short is coming out today that completely fixes that problem! Let me know what you think when it comes out at 10:00 AM Eastern Time. Thanks for the feedback!
😂 you are a riot
I try!!🤪
Is this indoors?
Yes it is!
I am craving ramen.
Which way? Did you run the out or the drag route?
It was my Opposite Day so I ran the other way continuously!
Who put all these trees there?
This like google maps for forest creatures.
GOOD TO KNOW.😁
You're somewhat correct. The blaze on top indicates whether the trail is turning left or right. But it doesn't necessarily imply an intersection - only that there is a sharp turn. I've seen that formation often where there are no intersecting trails.
That makes sense because I’ve seen the trail markers and there was no intersection just a sharp turn, I just thought it was an error or the trail gotten overgrown ha ha
