EPISODE 2x2 of House of the Dragon is MUCH better... but still FLAWED
Episode 2 of House of the Dragon's second season was significantly better than the first episode. It was more poignant, better written, and adhered more closely to the source material. While the portrayal of Blood and Cheese was mishandled and disappointing in the previous episode, the aftermath of it in this one was depicted with great skill. The pain, grief, and the following political maneuv...
Why EPISODE 2X1 of House of the Dragon was so UNDERWHELMING
There’s only word to describe how I felt about episode 1 of season 2: underwhelming. After two years of anticipation, it's disappointing that it didn't really live up to any of my expectations. Worse, the show altered so much from the book that important moments like Jacaerys’s time at Winterfell were removed entirely; the division within the Green Faction was exacerbated by the writers; and th...
FORGOTTEN: Daenerys's OTHER dragons (VISERION AND RHAEGAL)
In the season finale of the first season of _’Game of Thrones’_, Daenerys Targaryen survives a burning pyre and emerges with three baby dragons: Drogon, Viserion and Rhaegal. Because of the maternal relationship that she seems to have with them throughout the books, the Dothraki refer to her as the "Mother of Dragons". On the show, her black dragon, Drogon, is emphasized more than the others. D...
FORGOTTEN: The BLACK CHARACTERS of 'A Song of Ice and Fire'
Black people do exist in the world of A Song of Ice and Fire, though you wouldn't know it from watching Game of Thrones or following the controversy over casting Black actors as Velaryons. While they are few, some Black characters in the series play significant roles. For instance, Nettles is pivotal in the Dance of Dragons, and Moqorro has a significant role in Daenerys’ storyline in Meereen. ...
The RUINATION of SER CRISTON COLE
One of the worst changes in House of the Dragon's first season has been the diminishment of Ser Criston Cole's importance to the story of the Dance of Dragons. Though in the show, he's still portrayed as a skilled Kingsguard knight, he is also shown to be a vengeful ex-lover obsessed with Rhaenyra. It comes across as a shallow portrayal of his character that falls short of his depiction in the ...
Are the Westerosi RIGHT about the NATURE OF BASTARDS???
In the world of Westeros, bastards are othered and ostracized. Since they are children that are born out of wedlock, they are seen as being born of lust and lies, and therefore being treacherous and lustful by nature. The Westerosi believe that bastards are inherently bad people, that they have “bad blood” and are evil at heart, and though this is a terrible generalization to make about an enti...
UNRESOLVED: Corlys and Rhaenys supporting Rhaenyra
One aspect of season 1 of House of the Dragon that puzzled many viewers was the rapid shift in Corlys and Rhaenys’s support for Rhaenyra. Despite her numerous slights against them-having an affair with Ser Harwyn Strong, bearing illegitimate children not fathered by Laenor, and being implicated in Laenor’s murder (at least from the perspective of Corlys and Rhaenys)-they seem to forgive and sup...
Who is CREGAN STARK & why is he IMPORTANT???
Cregan Stark is an important character in the Dance of Dragons, fiercely supporting Rhaenyra’s cause and becoming one of her most pivotal allies in the war for the Iron Throne, but he is actually even more important for the role that he plays after the war is done. As Hand of the King and regent to the young Aegon, he manages to bring swift justice to the poisoners of Aegon II and he secures th...
What will happen in SEASON 2 of HOUSE OF THE DRAGON???
On March 21st, two House of the Dragon trailers dropped: one from the Black perspective and one from the Green. This brilliance of the marketing actually mirrors the war of the Dance of the Dragons itself, splitting the realm into Rhaenyra's Black supporters and Aegon's Greens. The trailers suggest that the show will explore this divided narrative in a full and nuanced manner - but what exactly...
The Historical Inspirations for Fire & Blood
We all know that George RR Martin draws from historical events and characters when he writes his 'A Song of Ice and Fire' books. We know that he was inspired by the Wars of the Roses for The War of the Five Kings, and that many of the characters in his main books’ stories were inspired by characters from the same time period as that civil war (e.g. Tyrion Lannister was clearly inspired by Richa...
THE TRAGIC LIFE OF VISERYS III
Viserys III is a terrible person, both in the books and on the tv show. He is cruel and vain and a classical bully - some might even say he is a downright villain. However, is it possible that there are reasons for Viserys’s behaviours? Is it possible that Viserys’s cruelty is as a result of his circumstances? We know that Viserys wasn’t always cruel to Daenerys and that there are passages thro...
Why do book fans love TYWIN LANNISTER
Despite his death several books ago, Tywin Lannister remains a captivating figure in A Song of Ice and Fire. Though the character has many flaws, there are still many book fans that find him to be intriguing due to his effective leadership. They are fascinated by Tywin’s feats: winning the War of the Five Kings, forging alliances, and uniting the Seven Kingdoms under Lannister rule. It’s becaus...
Is House of the Dragon a WOKE show??? (or the influence of MODERN POLITICS)
Is House of the Dragon ‘woke’? There are some fans who certainly believe so, especially those who are more familiar with the contents of George RR Martin’s books. They believe that House of the Dragon is riddled with ‘woke’ agendas ranging from race-swapping characters for the sake of diversity and inclusion (instead of for the sake of good and cohesive storytelling, for example), all the way t...
Why RHAENYRA WAS WRONG for sleeping with SER CRISTON
In the fourth episode of House of the Dragon, there's a scene portraying Rhaenyra engaging in intimate relations with Ser Criston Cole. The show presents this moment as a tender moment between the two characters, but the reality is far from sweet. This scene only shows just how selfish and reckless Rhaenyra truly is. She’s completely willing to jeopardize Ser Criston’s life for her own desires,...

Hail to the true king of Westeros!! With all his flaws and weaknesses, he is ultimately my favourite character! Under his reign, Westeros would had prosper in peace!!

What about Aemond though, the show could have made him killing Jahaerys intentional like it was in the books but instead he was remorseful. So I dont think its completely bias its just leans slightly more in favor of black

I had this problem with the back half of season 1, I identify more with the greens and my wife and friends look at me like I’m gross and crazy! They haven’t read the book though. I will say that so far anyway, they have definitely more than learned their lesson for season 2. They somehow made Aegon, if not likable, then very sympathetic. They give the generational trauma of Otto-Alicent-Aegon room to breath and it looks sad instead of cruel. And for the blacks…there is that one thing Daemon does..and there is no positive spin on that.

I'm surprised people find Otto unlikable, he's been a loyal hand & a great counselor in general.

They can't, unless they want to draw the ire of the book-fans and ruin the impact of many future events pertaining to Daeron's storyline.
